This is so far from true its disrespectful. Wolford played a good game. If you dont like him, youre entitled to your opinion and I hope whoever starts tomorrow plays great. But dont disrespect the kid because you dont like all the Goff vs Wolford talk. After the first INT and a few missed throws early, he played a damn good game. If if we dont shoot ourselves in the foot in the redzone the score looks a lot different. He cant control Akers fumble, back to back false starts, or a perfectly thrown fade right through Everett's hands. He played a damn good game all things considered. Goff had a QBR of 21 vs the Jets while Wolford had a QBR of 75.
QBR is straight shit for a stat I thought everybody knew that. Know why his QBR is so high? Just because he ran the ball a bit. Goff had a higher completion percentage, same YPA, two TD that Wolford didn't throw and had an int just like Wolford did. He was sacked one more time and scrambled less. In no world imaginable should Wolford's rating hosting the Cardinals be almost 4 times as high as Goff's vs the Jets.

And stop with this crap about it all being because we don't like Wolford, it's false and it's utter crap. Speaking for myself I have no issue with Wolford at all other than apparently I don't think he had some amazingly miraculous game vs Arizona. I hope for the best if he starts tomorrow but please stop projecting your dislike of Wolford onto me and others who are honest about the kids first start in which he helped the Rams win a game that we all celebrated.

1- It happens and it not happening is no guarantee of more points
2- Were the false starts partly his fault with cadence or something? Everybody makes mistakes including Wolford.
3- Happens to every QB by every WR/TE/RB he throws to at times.
4- Were those 3 the only drives of the game or what happened the rest of them that he couldn't lead us to a TD?

Again I don't hate Wolford but unlike some I'm not gonna give him the benefit of the doubt for others mistakes while holding the same things against Goff like most are doing. If he starts I'll cheer him on but I'm not seeing some magical performance let alone a good one that was ruined by other peoples mistakes. He had a pedestrian game last week, a bad one compared to what Jared did vs the same team in Arizona a few weeks prior.
“Were the false starts partly his (Wolford’s) fault with cadence or something?”
So only one guy moves on offense, and you’re gonna blame the QB? I understand you’re “not going to give Wolford the benefit of the doubt”, but come on!

Look, I get the stubborn defense of Goff, I’ve been doing it for years, myself. I look at those videos from practice, and the contrast between Goff and the other QB’s is noticeable. The ball “fires” out of Goff’s hand, he just looks and throws like a #1 pick, like a franchise QB.

I’m just sayin’ let’s not write off Wolford quite yet. Snead has obviously found diamonds in the rough, and McVay has talked highly of Wolford for two years now. I got real fired up watching Wolford play, once he settled in after that first drive I thought he played an excellent, efficient, mistake-free game.

I wasn't talking you but if you want to step in and defend your boy thats fine. QBR isnt a shit stat, people around here dont like it because Goff is bottom 1/3rd of the league. But my response was regarding Wolford, and the hate he's been receiving from people like you is absurd. Forget QBR, anyone that watched that game saw the great things he did.

The statements like I quoted are just plain disrespectful to a guy that gave a gutsy performance and helped get us into the playoffs. Goff is not 100%.. and people around here saying Wolford might be the better play against Seattle shouldn't be getting attacked by the Goff Army.

Just root for whoever starts tmrw and get off your high horse and stop taking shit so personal. But the sad thing is if Wolford plays deep down you wont want him to play well.

I am not singling you out Mach. But grabbing this quote because as a site administrator I need to say something;

To all; we are not picking sides within one team. Come on!

It doesn’t have to be one side or the other, and I am not seeing that... other than...

In order to discuss a topic, YOU MUST or tend to make points in conversation that are intended to challenge thinking.

Society might get that confused... But, not here, please.

I think what gets us off track; it’s our team and our players. So.... when discussing what we want to improve, it feels like a put down. So, we defend our players and our team.

That‘s what appears homerish. And... that’s what appears like an apologist.

And... HEY... guess what? That’s okay. It’s a fan site and you talk shit about my team outside of here THATS EXACTLY WHAT YOU GET.

We are all like that.

So, let’s stop labeling sides. We are here to discuss.

Today it’s a New season or Offseason

I tend to have hope, but Either way The Rams organization is in a Good Place.

The QB call is easy!! Mcvay will get it right. If he doesn’t then it is on him.

It has been a Tough Year in Sports & Looking back I am just happy The Rams Organization kept players Healthy & Save. The Season was Complete with a Playoff Berth. Can’t ask for more than that.

Right Now it’s a New Season.

LET’S GO RAMS!!!

Don't care who gets the nod, because I have faith that both guys can get it done. I could not have said that before last week. More importantly, the RAMS are the better TEAM. I just hope they play like it today.

If the Rams can somehow NOT turn the ball over, I think they win. Possibly by 2 or more scores.

Just to be clear, speaking for myself (and I’d like to think most of us) I’ve made it no secret I believe Goff gives us our best chance, I would be very apprehensive trotting out an inexperienced QB vs this Seattle team

In no way does that imply that if Wolford is indeed the starting QB im not 100% in his corner

There is no doubt in my mind Goff is playing today. I think Seattle knows it too.

What I would love to see is McVay start Wolford and let him play the first series and then put Goff in. Just to mess with Seattle’s coaching staff cuz I think you can rattle them.

After a shaky start while Wolford didn’t light it up passing what he did was move the ball with enough passes and his legs. This allowed the Rams to control the clock and ultimately the game. And to be honest Everett (dropped TD) and Akers (fumble) kept the score down. If those plays would have resulted in TDs we would be looking at something like a 27-7 score and Wolford would have been praised a whole lot more. Comparing Wolford and Goff is apples and oranges. I stated this back in week 10...if we don’t turn over the ball and our defense plays to their #1 rank level the Rams can beat anyone in the NFC. So if whomever starts at QB struggles McVay has an orange available to replace the apple. “Whatever it takes to win” will be the theme.

Long story short, I want Wolf to start. But if Goff starts, guess what? I'm still rooting for the Rams. Who knows, maybe Goff will have a new fire lit under his ass.

This becomes an issue of people giving the QB too much credit/blame for the offense IMO.

I'm not proud of the offense - I came away disappointed in Akers, VJ, Everett and with the false starts.

But I came away impressed with Wolford - with the caveat being he was bad early on. He started 1-6 for 3 yards and an INT. But after that?

21/32 228 yards (7 YPA), 56 yards rushing

I keep seeing people saying we always have our way with Arizona, which is true, but we also had our way with Seattle earlier in the season and played an even worse Jets team where the QB didn't perform this well.

That is what makes me excited about Wolford right now. He's a big downgrade from the Goff we want, but he's an upgrade over the Goff we've had the past few weeks.

Wow this is very well said! You spit the truth. We all hang on to the "Goff we want", it's so hard as an NFL fan to not do this. Fact is, Goff just isn't a great fit in our current offensive scheme. Sucks to accept. Now will McVay change the scheme a bit for Goff? Sure we've seen proof of that as Wolford had several deep ball and other opportunities that Goff has not had. It's just so strange to me. I think McVay has the offensive scheme to get a CJ Bethard type of QB 30 pass TDs in 16 games. It's just so weird. I'd start Goff but if we lose bc of him, he's not a Ram next season.

I guess I’m a Ram QB apologist because honestly from my vantage point Wolford played a hell of a game and showed winning play.

It’s really the same argument I make with Goff. The final numbers are irrelevant to how I judge a QB. If he has constant WR drops and shitty Oline play and no run game then I might see a great performance despite the offensive production or points scored. In this context I also judged Wolford and saw some great play. Same thing Mcvay saw and described.

But I keep going back to this arguement, Goff has shown elite level play with the right surrounding cast, but right now he doesn’t have the Oline to play consistently at that level so a mobile Qb might be the best play until we can fix the Oline next Year. If Wolford plays I have no problem with it and will expect good play.

Also, I don’t think it’s wise to predict Wolfords ceiling is less than Goff’s. This is a kid with lots of success at different levels including outplaying Lamar Jackson in college when their teams played. We also can’t predict his floor. He might be a jag or one hit wonder. I’m just glad he’s a Ram.

Im with you man i don’t get the wolford love. If Goff had posted than stat line he would have been mocked for it.
He did pretty much post that stat line last game at Seattle. Only difference was the special teams didn’t block a field goal, and the defense didn’t score 9 points. Only reason the Cardinals scored was because of Wolford’s INT.

Sorry but this is what's funny. Can he? How many points did we score? Three field goals against the Cards just a few weeks after Goff put up 31 points on offense against the same team? I don't want to talk shit about Wolford but that's exactly what I'm trying to say. Wolford scores 9 points against the Cards at home and suddenly McVay and the offense are better and able to open up more compared to what Goff did just a few weeks before on the road? The fact don't add up to your conclusion there IMO.
One of a couple of concerns I have with Wolford is the apparent need for him to work from the gun. It's tough to get a running game going that way.
And he's too inexperienced to beat you solely through the air IMO.
