No. Wolford started in Seattle because Goff had surgery 12 days prior. In order for your scenario to be true we would have to assume Wolford was going to start against the Cards and subsequently Seattle regardless of Goffs injury. Do you believe that to be true?

Absolutely.

Do you believe that McVay would never sit Goff because of poor play? No. Do you believe that because of Goff’s contract, McVay would choose not to sit him? No.
Is McVay clearly frustrated with Goff’s performance that he called him out on national TV? Yes.

Wolford gives you the best shot right this minute. Not Goff. The thumb just so happens to add to the equation which allows McVays decision easier and more understandable for the public to grasp.

McVay will play the guy who gives us the best chance to win; injuries or not.

It's crazy that this has developed into a Goff v. Wolfy thread.

One thing not mentioned, which is critical, being availability. Sure Goff is injured right now but that has been a rarity since he has been in the NFL. Wolfy played in his second NFL game and was knocked out of the game and visited the hospital. Goff has had a down year, which was not helped when Whit went out. Is McVay looking to push Goff out the door? I don't think so, but one can never know what a HC is really thinking because they are all liars (not meant derogatorily, just that it's easier to tell a tale to the media when they really don't want to reveal their position in the press).

Goff is the #1 QB and that only is threatened if Wolfy does spectacular things versus Green Bay and maybe New Orleans. If he steps in and throws for 300 yards and for a few TD's and NO INTS, there might be a real conversation in my mind. But he is a long way from that right now (Wolfy).

My want to start Wolford last game against Seattle was precisely to have Goff more ready for this and future games. Unfortunately, Wolford got taught a valuable lesson. I don’t think the last game was particularly good for Jared’s thumb. My worry now is how the cold weather and past game may affect Jared’s grip considering the condition of his thumb.
Being we will likely run often vs the Pack, I’d once again start Wolford and monitor his performance. I don’t like the idea of us potentially losing Goff to injury this year when we could possibly get to the big dance with our defense and hopefully a limited turnover ratio. I think our defense will play lights out.

I really wish Goff was held to the same standard of "consistency." Had Goff played a game against Arizona like the one Wolford played, he would have gotten shat on relentlessly for his performance. If Goff was 100% healthy, Wolford never sniffs the field. There is zero chance that Wolford is a better option than a healthy Goff right now. It's a preposterous claim. But we don't have a healthy Goff.

Dude. My claim isn’t preposterous my guy; relax. You disagree and that’s just fine by me.

Tell me, why would have Goff gotten judged poorly if he had the same game as Wolford? Are they held to the same standard? If they are in your book, then that’s on you.

You’re purely speculating that with a 100% healthy Goff that Wolford doesn’t sniff the field. You don’t have any idea as to what’s being said in those meetings.

Goff has been statistically bad this season, and has the most turnovers of any QB over the past two years. But yet there’s “zero chance that Wolford is better than Goff”... at this present time.

Stop.

See this is what I mean... lol this silver guy is a clown.

Yeah I'm sure Goff called HIM.

lol... yeah okay...sorry maybe called him back?
Obviously the first thin Goff did after winning a playoff game with a broken surgically repaired thumb was ignore his super model gf and call Adam silver ...duh

Wolford is also injured right this minute, so neither of us know who gives us the best shot right now. I know a healthy Goff gives us a better shot than a healthy Wolford, but neither is healthy at the moment.

You can't simultaneously claim that a healthy Wolford is a better option than a healthy Goff and demand we hold Wolford to a lower standard. Those notions conflict with each other. If Wolford is as good or better than Goff, he should be held to the same standard. And we both know that had Goff performed like that against Arizona, he would have been criticized endlessly.

We also don’t know the extent of Wolford’s injury. Aside from that he’s day to day with a singer and practiced today.

If you’re taking a healthy Goff over Wolford, great. I’m not. Simple as that. And the fact that you feel confident moving into the playoffs with how Goff is playing at the moment (and has the majority of the season) is beyond me.... he’s been bad. That doesn’t mean he’s not a big part of the future. But again, right now? Not good.

In this present time, based on Arizona, Wolford is better than Goff; yes. And if McVay agrees with me, Wolford starts this weekend.

It's not a breakdown yet but McVay needs to handle this better. Sending Goff out to lie to the press, for tactical advantage, and when McVay had already decided to start Wolford, was stupid and demeaning. His omission to state that Goff would start as soon as his thumb was really ok was equally notable. McVay is better than this.

He does. McVay is normally a good communicator, but this hasn’t been flawless.

Please, don’t be dismissive. Politely answer my question. How did I not make sense?
I just see a fundamental disagreement between us dude and rather than argue back and forth let’s just be brothers in the team we support
