For some, Goff is a huge personal and emotional disappointment, who makes too many embarrassing mistakes for them to tolerate.

I don’t see anyone saying it but Goff is trying to do too much, because he’s the offense now.

As the Rams transition through the dead money of Cooks and Gurley, he has to carry more of the load.

Nor have they replaced the fresh Sullivan of ‘17 & ‘18 or Saffold.

It’s going to take more than 4 poor performances in 2020 for me....play within yourself, 16.
I personally believe if Goff indeed gets the call today, he’s gonna come out playing with a burr up his ass, that is, he’s going to be...extra? fired up, I know I would if I’d been subjected to the past two weeks

Context absolutely matters, which is ironic considering you quoted me completely out of context.

Playing a good game under the circumstances (I actually said great but you left that out) is not the same thing as playing a good game.
There are no points given for circumstances, no participation trophies.
To win today's game will require a very good, possibly great overall game. Not an "under the circumstances" effort.
Last week was not a good game for a playoff caliber winning QB. It wasnt.
Goff is 7-0 in games where the defense gave up 7 points or less, they would have won that game had he played too
Do you know what...I completely missed that bit, and I totally apologise for it.
I skimmed your post, zeroed in on the bit I posted, and missed the above.

ya know there was a lot of us that thought that is what goff needed. i think he was a little over confident in his starting position.

I understand the criticism on Goff but what I dont understand is how quickly people are writing him off. We’ve gone to the playoff 3 of the last 4 years? I thought Wolford played well enough last game but how many 3 and outs did the opposing offense have with their backup QB? Our defense controlled that game. Youre not going to get that with Russell Wilson. For me personally, I cant be that confident in Wolford based on what Ive seen. It will ultimately depend on the health of Goff. If Wolford starts, I hope he becomes the next Nick Foles.

I'm not completely writing him off but am certainly growing tired of his play. He's got all the arm talent in the world, at this point it's all a head game.

What frustrated me is he's got a large contract, and is supposed to be our Franchise guy and yet you have no idea from game to game what Goff we're getting.

Although as mentioned, lack of deep threat and an inconsistent line don't help him.

This is exactly where I am at. Perfectly stated.

Start Goff if his thumb is good enough. He's the starter and, on balance, the better QB even if Wolford adds a dimension to this offense with his legs that Goff cannot.

But if Goff's thumb isn't yet letting him grip the football at full strength - and I imagine that might well be the case - I don't want Goff anywhere near the field. He fumbles too much at the best times. Wolford has the team rallying, has proven he can manage the game and make just enough throws, has shaken out the nerves now, and still has the "unpredictable / no game tape" advantage over anyone he faces. We can't have turnovers in the playoffs. If Goff's thumb is weak, I don't trust him enough to hold onto the football.

And I understand that frustration. We all want him to be more consistent. But I’m just saying in discussion of Goff vs Wolford against the Seahawks, wanting Wolford to start seems misplaced. Goff still gives us the best chance to win IMO. Hes still played well enough to help the rams into the playoffs and superbowl.

With a healthy Goff I would definitely go with Goff but not Goff after only 2 weeks of healing on a broken bone.

Versus the running ability of Wolford and the fact that Wolford is coming off of a win and now has 2 weeks of working with the first string offense.
Plus having Kupp this week that he didn't have last week.

Bring Goff off the bench if you have to.
