I’d say if Goff is remotely healthy it shouldn’t even be a question that he gets the start. A couple of points:

-Neither team is going to get much going on the ground. Both teams will try to run just to keep each other honest but let’s face it-based on suspect OLs, health and ability of each team’s RBs and both teams run defenses this game will be decided by which QB plays better.

-In regards to QBs Seattle has one of the worst pass defenses in football. This is where we need to move the ball on them and Goff should be able to. I’d have him in shotgun most of the time as we should be able to move the ball. I think this is going to be a game where special teams make a difference (which scares the shit out of me) but I think Gay is going to need to have a big game.

-On the flip side Wilson won’t be able to have long play drives against our defense so we can’t give up any of those patented rainbow bombs from them. If you keep Wilson in the pocket you know we are going to get some sacks and turnovers.

-Like I said, if we limit our turnovers, convert FGs, and limit Seattle’s big plays I think we have a great shot of winning.

One other item I’ll point out about Goff that I’ve said many times-I’m critical of him when he’s playing poorly but all I’ll say is how many big games can you think of where Goff has shit the bed? In fact-just the opposite. The bigger the game the better he plays-can’t say that about the rest of the team though-especially our WRs in those big games where Goff made the throw but they couldn’t come up with the catch. Based on his historic play and even this year where we didn’t lose 2 games in a row until the end of the year he’s my guy.

I’m really hoping he’s a go because as I mentioned earlier I think this game comes down to QB play and I’d put money down that we have a better shot that Goff is better equipped to take on Wilson head to head vs Wolford. (I like the kid by the way but playoffs are a different animal and I want the guy who’s experienced it and already performed well in those situations).

Way to contradict yourself on the QB thing

Comparing having their way with the Cardinals Defense to having their way with the Seahawks Defense, now that’s just silly, btw I tip my cap to the Jets, they played a helluva game followed it up vs another playoff team victory over

This whole upgrade over the past few weeks over Goff...is based on a very mediocre Performance vs our “lets pad our O stats patsy team” the past 4 years, I hate to break this to you but the simple fact of the matter is that was the Rams very worst offensive output vs the Cardinals under McVay, that’s indisputable

That is indisputable for sure.

But Wolford wasn't the problem there. That's what I'm saying - he played well after his (understandably) shaky start. Better than Goff has in a few weeks. Nothing to dispute there either.

The only argument to compare them directly is looking at both Cardinals games - but I'm saying that's a bad idea because we can compare Goff himself in both Seahawks games and see two VERY different outputs. In the first one he torched them, in the second one he had a bad game.

So if the same QB can have two different games against the same team and it not mean he's a better or worse player (because he's the same player, obviously), then why would we use Goff's success against the Cardinals against Wolford? Especially when Goff has played worse defenses since then and NOT played well, and Wolford himself recently did play well?

I think Goff starts and has a really big, clutch game.

I'm not a medical expert but I am very experienced in fracturing bones... my bones. I've fractured my ankle, my arm, my wrist, my elbow, and MY THUMB.

I cannot believe Goff can be ready to play LESS THAN ONE WEEK after fracturing his thumb and having surgery. Even if he can grip a ball and throw it, he can't possibly have any touch on the ball.

I'd start Wolford based on that.

Lonnnngggg off season if he starts and doesnt.
Long offseason if they don't start Goff if he's healthy and ready to go too. We might never know that is what happened but Goff will.

So I'll be surprised if it's not 16.

Both Arizona and Seattle are mediocre on defense. Neither of them are a plus matchup. And yes I know Seattle's playing better now and all that. But at the personnel level they are not the usual Seattle defense we can win up front and score on these clowns and will IMO.

I'm personally hoping for the Wolf of Ball St on Saturday and hoping he is getting all the first team reps currently. I cannot imagine a way that Goff's thumb is ready for a full NFL game. One hit or bump on that thumb (which could include a snap) and he's likely out. He already was having accuracy issues, add this to that and I can't see a situation where he gives us a better chance to win this game.

Honestly I think we're in for one regardless of who does what and how the game goes Sunday.
Quit being a Debbie Downer OS. After this team rides a rejuvenated OL and stifling defense to a championship the only problem with the offseason will be the six month hangover from all the partying. :beer2:

If Goff is close enough to healthy he will play. I just don’t think he is and that McVay is playing chess by not revealing anything.

Okay, allow me to present this

Rams vs Az McVay Era - Points Scored

10/22/17 - 33 for Rams
12/03/17 - 32 for Rams —- Defense scores 7

9/6/18 —— 34 for Rams
12/23/18 - 31 for Rams

12/01/19 - 34 for Rams
12/29/19. - 31 for Rams

12/06/20 - 38 for Rams ——Defense scores 7

annnnnnnd

01/03/21 - 18 for Rams — Defense scores 9

So back to my original point, AZ has been our “let’s score lots of points“ patsy the entire McVay era, that was until last game

Cheers!

Excluding the Rams the Seahawks have faced the Giants, Jets, Washington and 49’ers in their last 5 games (the rest of their schedule was a cakewalk too). It doesn’t get any easier on a defense then facing those offenses (no smart ass jokes about the Rams D against the Jets.

But in all seriousness if we don’t beat this team I’m going to be sick. I don’t care about records because from a talent perspective there is no way we should lose this game.

Just saying let's not start acting like we're facing the Legion of Boom here dudes. Perspective. This Seahawks defense is playing good ball but they have a ton of mistakes and miscomms on tape this season and have a tendency to do dumb shit. Plays will be there to be made the offense just needs to execute. Which I think they will.
