I think most here would agree... if we could separate Goff at the hips, and attach him to Wolford’s lower body we’d all see a more desirable combination.

Seeing Wolford escape and move, that is clearly something that can flip a play or two a game in this offense. It’s silly to ignore that.

But, does Goff make more arm and head plays per game to offset that? He has a longer career and pro bowls of that... So we know he can.

Everyone loves the unknown QB, and dreams of a diamond... and truthfully Wolford did enough in game one to keep that hope alive. So, I get it.

It makes me conflicted, too.

Goff has won a lot of games. I trust him more, certainly when healthy.

But I am here for the ride... and it’s a lot of fun!

Go Goff! Go Wolford! Go Rams!

If my decision, I'd start Goff ONLY IF HE can make all the throws in warm ups.

If we start him, and he plays badly ... pull him for Wolford mid 2nd quarter. We NEED to win our playoff game, not worry if we might make Goff sad. So we cannot wait until the 4th quarter to pull him. It'll be too late.

But I'd start Goff.

I agree! IF, At least close to 100% start Goff but put him on a short leash! I think this is still Goff’s Team if he is healthy enough to play! But, Against the Seahawks Defense, Wolford’s mobility & athleticism could be a real asset!

I got band a bit for making fun of Goff on Halloween(Miami) game. If he is going to gof I will gof as well about his Seahag costume.

My statement was how he runs.I run all the time & people always joke run Forest Run for the longest time.

Before games Goff does his jumping thing.I’m just evaluating what I’m seeing from Jared.

Wolford said straight up he can run the ball & basically Jared can’t. That last Seahag game showed it when he had a first down easy or when he rolls out can not buy time.

That all said, put The Rams in a more uptempo game Goff strives. The question to me is not how he throws but how fast can he get the ball out.

Wonder if watching Wolford with The Rams offense helps him in the pocket?
I trust in Mcvay & like with Gurley he went with CJ Anderson taking The Rams to the SuperBowl & never seeing CJ in a Rams Uni again.

I dont see why they both cant play. Goff is your starter unless he cant go, but surely Wolford can get some plays as well. Putting him in there on a 3rd and short or a goal line sitch adds an entirely different wrinkle. And the more snaps he has, the more acclimated he would be if Goff were to come out of the game.

I am glad you answered, Memphis, because I was going to ask how the heck do you predict this?

The counter to your answer is; it is a playoff game and the backup has 1 career start. That is a safer turnover play?

So, again... heads or tails?

It is to me.

Why would it be held against Wolford that we had a fumble at the 1 by Akers and two false starts, along with the perfectly thrown dropped TD by Everett?

I'd say the same thing if it happened to Goff too btw. But those issues, along with Kupp not playing, were IMO worse than what Goff has had the past few weeks. And on Sunday, Wolford played QB better than Goff did against the Patriots, Jets or Seahawks.

Goff was better than Wolford against Arizona.

But understand - I am NOT saying Wolford is better than Goff. I'm saying he played better on Sunday than Goff has in the past few weeks. In the apples to apples comparison of Arizona, Goff was better.

My post was in response to being honest about QB play, has nothing to do with who I think is better (it's Goff).

The question McVay has to answer is whether Goff can get back to that Arizona game form. If he can and he's healthy, then who the QB is this week won't even be a conversation.
Was it Goff's fault his OL couldn't punch it in from the one last week?

Did we forget the trip down the field that ended in zero points due to a fumble on the goal line?
Yet it was on Goff that his OL couldn't punch it in from the one in Seattle. Or the two TDs that were called back against the Jets due to penalties... Or Blyth unable to block Quinnen Williams multiple times resulting in blown up plays. Yeah, that was on him.

Yea that’s pretty much how I see it. Strategically, it would make sense to have Wolford packages. If we had a top Oline we could let Goff do his thing, but our present situation calls for something different especially around the goaline where RPO gives more options and keeps the defense from crashing the lanes inside.

I’m also an advocate for a big set. Bring in Evans and Robinson and push bodies backwards. Let Gaines steamroll into paydirt.

Akers isn’t a powerful runner most of the time. Certainly not like Gurley.

And there you go, you are correct and Bravo for pointing this out

Honestly I’m a little disappointed with many of our fans in general over this, some other sites are just utter cesspools dominated by the worst of the worst trolls from the PD

My take is I just want the Rams to win this week, I’m not so sure trotting a young but very spirited miniature version Austin Davis (whom lead us to some pretty rousing victories so please don’t view that as a insult, AD definitely had his moments) coming off a rather statistically poor outing vs a below average D that we routinely have been owning...vs a playoff battle tested D at Seattle

Whomever gets the start has my 100% support, at the end of the day McVay will call the right shot, and if Goff can’t go and Wolford gets the call, go get em young man.

I think the Rams should let Wolford play behind Goff again next year while Goff's contract is putting a strangle hold on the team's cap. After next year get rid of Goff, when the cap hit lessens, and let Wolford compete for the starting job.

Neil039, please enlighten me as to what you saw as inappropriate about this post.

No doubt Goff's play this year makes you scratch your head...but I don't think it goes that far. There's something we don't know...kinda like the Gurley departure.

One explanation is maybe he got personally involved with some hot stripper, believe me they can take you down fast!

Remember when McVay said in a presser that “the QB has to play better” or maybe it was “the QB has to protect the ball better” and we all knew that was out of character for Coach to say such a thing?

THAT, to me, was the week to sit Goff and send the signal that not all things in life are guarunteed.

We have this injury thing now and its a forced sit down, rather than an elective one.

The time spent watching however, is the same and I would side with an assumtion that the time has healed Goff’s woes.

the suspense is ramping up. Two very interesting stories as far as the QB’s go, and one very interesting story about the nature of McVays frustration and its impact on a relationship.

Yeah, Wolford scores 9, costs 7 but he's the answer at QB. Lol. Because of penalties, the Rams had a TD called back which would have won the Jets game, and a 1st down nullified that at worst would have tied it, but that doesnt matter, however Wolford gets credit because the Rams false start taking them away from the 1. Oh the inconsistency
I'm not sure if Wolford gets the credit for the win because it's a team game.

Wolford operated the offense enough to get a win.
He did however, complete some critical 3rd and longs with his legs and arm and secured us a spot in the playoffs.

Not bad for a guy making his first appearance in an NFL game. ;)

there may not be a qb controversy right now but if the wolfman gets to start and beats the sea chickens there will be for sure. so i'll go with goff to finish out this year. but next year there better be an open competition for the starting qb job in training camp

If Goff is really ready, he plays. Sprinkle in some Wolf just to fuck with the Hags.

The Rams are 7-0 in games started by Goff when holding the opponent to 7 points or less, I'm thinking most if not all QB are in that range...
I really have a hard time seeing where Wolford did enough to win. The defense gave them the lead of 12-7, and at no point after did that lead feel unsafe. Heck, even Kingsbury threw up the white flag at the 5 minute mark. I mean how do you punt there? Basically ended the Cards season.
So yeah, he showed a spark with his legs, and I would love to see that integrated in the Rams gameplan, healthy Goff or not. But he also was the reason they trailed in the first place so I even hesitate in saying that "he didnt lose the game for the Rams".
