I don't buy in that a ref or ref crew favors a team.
Me either but they are favoring a more competitive game after halftime. The team that is ahead and in control is going to get Goodell'd at some point. Usually in the 4th qtr and especially if that team is on the road.

That's just it. A 34-10 blowout midway thru the 3rd qtr, for example, is not a circumstance where the officials can regularly push the agenda i'm referring to.

I believe they're for the most part calling a straight game (early) unless it's later in the game and then one or two sabotaged possessions to the team in control will clearly add "drama" and extend the game. That is what's going on.

Holding calls, ball spots, PI's, personal fouls etc. These are calls that can be made, or not made, that are non-challengable(with the exception of ball spots) that kill momentum. It's more about timing than anything else and the timing has been transparent in my eyes as a football fan and former NBA fan. We saw the same crap going on there in decades past.

It's not possible to prove any kind of conspiracy because i'm not talking about refs betting on games or fixing wins and losses which would have a tangible trail of a crime. This is an agenda to extend games for tv ratings if and when at all possible.

What you describe here is just silly. Completely incomprehensible.

Okay. We disagree. I would like to ask you just how much football you actually watch every week? In a season? Just Rams games?
Snap to snap give or take a few bathroom breaks etc.

NFL rules....he's allowed to do that and it makes sense because a kickers plant foot will go past the kicking tee.

It's a bit of a tweak and OK it's something I can live with.

It may seem like that to you but it seems equally silly and incomprehensible that refs are not “advised” on how to call a game without the league blatantly saying “keep it close”. The refs know and have been advised to look for tendencies. They form their own biases on what to look for and what to maybe let slide.

As Prime said, it’s human nature to some extent. Much as it can be for people to favor an underdog or pick out plays because they feel a player has a certain mentality.

In much the same way, a game may have a rough tone to it or the thought is that it could easily get that way, so the refs are told to keep a close eye or let them play - depending.

I don’t buy that refs feel they HAVE to call games in certain ways regardless of if they are being directed to or not.

All this aside, my main gripe is the idea that the NFL claims to care about player safety yet can’t come to grips with the idea that a league official couldn’t step in and demand a penalty that was missed or tell a ref he blew a call. It could happen in seconds for obvious screw ups. They do it in college and I don’t hear many if any complaints.

I see little question of the tactics that have been used in our last two games and probably has been used by others in other games. In this case, it is not a matter of the refs but more what the coaches are hinting at. How many years did coaches do exactly what Williams was caught on tape doing? It is still a problem and the league is letting it go. Why? Brush back for fans complaining about the sissification of the league maybe? Dunno.

I agree with the plant foot. I don’t get the idea that the kicker can pass the ball completely, run back around, and kick it the other way. It makes no sense. The receiving team will obviously shift a certain direction. That would be like allowing a QB to head jerk then pull backward, then get back under center.

Alright.........

So we seem to be going back and forth on your posts from Rams games, to all sports, to every NFL game..........to how often I piss or shit.

And this is a discussion about thoughts regarding refs calls.......not facts, feelings and thoughts and opinions.........about the actual calls.

AND.......why those calls were made.

Name the calls. Point them out. Not just against the Rams, but every bad call in the NFL.

Otherwise your point has no validity at all.

And.........

If you feel the way that you do why the hell do you watch sports???

Why do you root for a team that by your own admission is being taken down by the NFL for their own greed and profit??? Arent you among those that have said the NFL will hug SK's nuts not that he is building the facility out west.

the NFL is against the Rams this week, just look at the bad calls. But they love the Rams for building the stadium and studios.

Do you realize how silly that sounds?

You can't have it both ways.

Have you watched the last few to 15 years is a question I would ask you.

This is such a giant leap in logic and fact.

I will agree that refs are not that good.

But that they are being informed to make calls to alter games is complete bullshit until there is indisputable truth is complete bullshit, and there have never been that. Not even one iota.

BTW... I’m not saying it is against the rules as written. Just seems odd and IMO shouldn’t be allowed. Why not just let the kicker do a bunch of crazy eights back there until he finally decides to kick the ball. I mean, let’s make it a REAL circus.

The head of referees that now is a commentator has said they are advised before games of things to look at or if a game has a potential to turn sideways. In that way, they are purposefully altering a game. It doesn’t mean they are favoring one team over another but to ignore it and assume the refs aren’t advised is what is silly.

I talked about the NFL fan who might not watch games in their entirety(only watching red zone and highlights). Which if that was the case would have no clue or reference to debate what i'm talking about here.

I didn't get personal until i asked him just how much football does he watch? Not a dig. Simple question.
Watching football games is pretty important when discussing what goes on during football games. My assumption is that he doesn't sit down and watch alot of 60 minute football outside of Rams games...but i could be wrong, so i asked to clarify.
