Much like Sammy Watkins, who again was criticized here and by sports fans far and wide, he missed 8 games one year and was otherwise healthy. The numbers are the numbers.

The numbers are the numbers, but what matters is what do the numbers mean? How likely is he to miss time going forward?

Two of his four training camps he has had significant soft tissue injuries, which is the more concerning part. Once he had a badly fractured ankle - and whether there was a severe soft tissue injury because of it. The medical reports which we don't have access to would tell us about how the bones are recovering, whether there will be issues, and whether the ligaments in the ankle are okay or frayed.

Incidentally, the reports I've seen say that he is unlikely to participate in OTAs and possibly part or all of training camp. Yes, he's a stud - but will he learn the system, and how much of the season will it take?

If I understand how his contract works, he can sit out this year, not get paid, become a year older and the same conditions will apply to his contract next year because he's still in his rookie contract. So I believe he will play, even for the Giants, but he might be unmotivated and a bigger headache than he's worth.

Guys like this with this kind of mindset can be more detrimental to the team even if they are loaded with talent.

True, but he can sit out all of OTA, camp and the first 10 weeks, report week 11 for the remaining 6-7 weeks of the season and still get credit for the year.

As Pat Shurmur is installing a new offense, he'd need at least a week to even be kind of productive, he'd really only be there for 4 weeks.

That's possible. I dunno if anyone's done it because players haven't wanted to miss paychecks, but with this CBA and being a transcendent talent, it would make financial sense to do.

Worse, it would make no sense for the Giants after only getting 4 weeks from him to Tag him and pay him $1M per game for the last 6 games of the season and only see 4-5 games of production. He'd be kind of affordable, but with every catch, he'd be making it harder.

Technically, they could keep his rights and tag him for two years. They'd really screw themselves if they tagged him a third year based on only playing a quarter of the season only to have him show up prior to the first game of the year at the third year tag price. First year would be $16M, second would be 19.2 and the third year would be a staggering $27.65M

Which is why I say this whole thing is a clusterfuck for the NYG and they are damned lucky we're not just offering a 3rd.

That's why a massive contract without all of that info is just... not how this FO has operated.

And the rest of the league would have every reason to insist that tampering occured because no way a WR gets $100M coming off of an injury with the full extent unknowable by the new team.

Hell NO , it’s too much

He’s the bitch of all bitches

We cannot pay the bitch 20 mil per and send draft picks to NY as well, no way.

I get the whole Snead thing: trade for a second and get a 3 rd comp pick in return. I can live with that

This guy? I don’t see him as a player that will grow up, he is too full of himself and you know this.

That would really suck if the Rams are paying him all that money while he still a NY Giant.

It's a pretty good fake, imho.

They used the draft as a timetable which is when I think it would happen if it did.

But, by not including the compensation for a trade, it makes no sense. I mean, the Rams could agree in principle to such a contract...but if the NYG won't trade him for less than a QB bounty, then it's not going to happen and OBJ is gonna have to sort it out with them.

You guys in support of getting OBJ are crazy as hell!
Honestly if we are even thinking close to given 2 1's for that shit bag then we might as well be pursuing Antonio Brown. F OBJ.

I dunno if anyone's spent more time making the case for OBJ than I and I am prepared to explain how it works based on the patterns (which have been scary accurate these past 2-3 years)

That said, there's no way we're giving up multiple #1s, paying a $100M contract BEFORE AD gets paid, setting the new high water mark for WRs AND mortgaging our future... without KNOWING more than we can possibly know.

We don't have full access to his medical history, don't have any relationship or a chance to meet with him to ensure he's a fit, so...

It's easy to wade through the crap.

Yes, the NYG are looking to trade OBJ. They are too conservative to want to handle someone like OBJ. Eli Manning is the perfect Giant.

The Rams have apparently gone big to move the needle by offering their 1st rounder.

The NYG are seemingly acting like the league doesn't understand the cap, the CBA or the value of picks or the trade value for the position of a player entering the last year of their contract. So anything you're looking at that says crazy amounts are either trial balloons or they are fan generated.

If you see OBJ for a ham sandwich, it's probably a Rams fan.

if you see OBJ for 3 1sts and multiple other picks, then it's probably a Giants, Eagles or Saints fan.

The contract is almost certainly an OBJ fan and not legit. We KNOW too much about the Rams to even entertain that.

As I said, this will likely get resolved right around the draft.

I think the uppermost range is a 1st and a mid round pick next year, like a comp 3rd or a 4th.

Moreover, there would have to be an agreement in place and a condition that OBJ has to agree to report immediately.

That's if it happens. It's possible that the Giants price themselves out of the market and then the circus comes to town in NY...

We'll see.

If the Rams sign this Ahole, it won't be one or two games and he'll be bitching and moaning about not getting enough targets. No thanks

Guy wants to be thr highest paid wr. No way we can afford that and it isnt realistic, but i have no doubts we didnt inquire about him. I just think his antics and attitude is shit for us for the price tag etc. And without getting AD settled to boot. Good points as well.

Yeah, I honestly don’t quite understand those who DON’T want OBJ.

Snead and McVay clearly think he would be an immensely valuable addition.

Gonzalez writes that McVay thinks that Sammy was a huge loss... sure sounds like McVay thinks a deep threat to stretch the field is invaluable.

I’m amused by descriptions of OBJ: “shit bag... dickhead... bitch of all bitches.”

My response is, who cares? I don’t care if OBJ is a whiny prima donna, as long as he’s a fiery competitor who has a legit chance to push the Rams to the next level.

Deion Sanders? Unbearable. Michael Irvin? Please, shut up. Eric Dickerson? Selfish. Randy Moss? Same. Terrell Owens? Ugh.

But I would take every single one of these elite-athlete-douchebags in their prime if it meant my team had a greater chance to win a Super Bowl.

Personally, I think OBJ is an immature attention seeker. But on the field, I think he could help the Rams retain their status as the #1 Offense.

Lastly: if we didn’t have a prodigy as a head coach, and a strong core already in place, I’d be more concerned. But I think McVay (and Whitworth and Woods and Kupp and gurley and other vets) will make sure OBJ stays in line.

The Rams are THISCLOSE to being a team with a real, legit chance to win the whole damn thing. I think OBJ could be the last piece, and I for one hope he joins us.
