The Jets are a team Decimated-by-Injuries at a key position ... Offensive Tackle.
The Jets' plan was to move last year's Right Tackle George Fant to Left Tackle and play former-#11-overall-pick Mekhi Becton (a literal HUGE disappointment thus far) to RT.
Then Becton went on season-ending-IR, so the Jets signed 37-year-old Duane Brown who remains a legit-starter. The plan then was to play Brown at his long-time-LT-position, and move Fant back to RT.
Then Brown was injured and placed on short-term-IR, so Fant was ... Again ... shifted back to LT, with rookie Max Mitchell (a fourth round developmental-player out of Louisiana ... not LSU) forced-fed to start at RT.
Yesterday, Fant went on IR. The new LT is career-back-up-Connor McDermott who has 6 starts in 6 seasons.
The Jets' current starting OTs Mitchell and McDermott are now backed-up by first-round Bust Cedric Ogbuehi who was signed yesterday, Over-the-Hill Mike Remmers who signed two day ago and Never-Was Adam Pankey who was signed to the Practice Squad late-last-week.
Welcome back Zach Wilson!
