Have they gone to far with this relationship with gambling? Even in the pregame you’re getting the line on who scores the first touchdown.

I don’t mind if you want to put money down, it’s yours to spend.

I don’t like how close they have become and don’t see how they are able to stay above fixing games. You already can’t trust the refs.

100% agree.....plus with up to date money totals. There is basically no separation and there is no check and balances that I know of.

It's a different world these days with social media etc. It's much harder for a player to hide big gambling. As for checks n balances they still have the same rules as they did before. If you're cheating or shaving points you're in a world of trouble especially with it being harder to hide. I honestly can't remember the last time there was any kind of a sports betting scandal the last one that comes to mind is that NBA ref.

But they are partners in the biggest sports books...they are part of the house.

Again, when was the last problem with a player and gambling I honestly can't remember. We've had players spending time in Vegas for years and years and no problem. We've had a pro hockey team in Vegas for 4 years and the Raiders for 2 and yet to see a problem which is impressive considering the knuckleheads they draft.

As somebody who's lived the majority of his 50+ years in Nevada peoples perception of sports gambling and gambling in general is greatly exaggerated and has little to do with reality.

Hey OS, just curious as to what you mean by this, could you elaborate a bit?

Agreed that with social media it's harder for a sports figure to bet millions and have it go unnoticed.

Generally speaking, I'm of the belief that "the NFL colluding and conspiring to rig outcomes" is highly improbable.

As far as corrupt refs? Again, I think it's somewhat improbable, if for no other reason that every call they make is so highly public and scrutinized.

Hey, I love mafia movies (especially Goodfellas and Casino, which had screenplays based on real-world info from gangsters). But successfully rigging a game in the NFL would be awfully tough to do and also keep secret, in my opinion.

Grab the sentences before that too it's all one statement. With social media it's super hard to hide. With social media the cheating is amplified by also being convicted by the court of public opinion. You're not innocent in that court until proven guilty. You're guilty and even if you're proven innocent you are still guilty by a lot of people.

It's so much harder to get away with these kind of cheating things in today's world.

It's annoying how everything has to be about gambling now but I usually ignore the halftime stuff anyway. It's always been a bit of nonsense frankly. I usually listen to music and read posts here when the Rams are playing. And drink.

Couldn't care less about fixing games. The nfl have seemingly been doing it for years.

What I care about is how every single young male has betting apps and seemingly bets on everything everyday. They've grown up with betting quotes on the screen before, during and after games. Every third commercial is about betting apps. It's sickening.

All the ads for betting appas are annoying. I don't bet.

However I think it's fun to see the lines, because it gives you an idea of the perceived quality of teams according to Vegas, and sometimes you can see that the press is not in synch with them. Sometimes it also helps keep cool, the Rams had lost three in a row, the line was at -15.5 vs Jags and we won by 30.

The owners are the ones who would be manipulating things more so than players IMO.

And I’m sure there is little chance of anything coming out showing collusion.

They already split the pot when it comes to tv deals. They undoubtedly get a big cut from the deals they’ve made with whoever runs the gambling world now.

It wouldn’t be hard to pay off a player to miss blocks, drop passes or miss tackles and still make it look good for the cameras.

Got it something that happened over a century ago in an entirely different world that people were busted for because you can't hide cheating on that level. That's got people worried with today's NFL and marketing. Whatever makes people feel better.
