The more I think about it, the more I hate this decision. Say what you want about Wade, but we can do a whole lot worse then him.

time to move on & let Mcvay grow !! Taking the training wheels off Mcvay as Demoff has planned all along !!

For those that say careful, it could be worse,
I don't think it can get much worse...Giving up 40 multiple times means it wasn't just one bad game...The inconsistency was gut-wrenching for me as well...I'm not whacking on Phillips, just saying that I think it is a good time to move on...Apparently the powers that be concur...I really wish him well, it's hard not to like the guy !!!

Kris Richard, Cowboys DBs coach

View attachment 33216

A defensive backs specialist, Richard has a lengthy track record of success working with secondary players. He’d be a worthwhile addition to a defense that features Ramsey, John Johnson and Taylor Rapp, ideally making the most of their potential.

Richard is a fiery coach who’s often seen yelling on the sideline, which would be a stark contrast from the approach Phillips took. Perhaps that’s something McVay is looking for.

Plus I have a feeling McVay might prefer that style of defense he observed under Monte Kiffin in Tampa.

what about Pleasant & signing Richards as a DB coach ??

Richard is getting head coach interviews there’s no chance at all he takes a dB coach position. It’s HC or DC for him.

Belichick defensive tree is the one that varies the most. Belichick Jr fits that bill...

I think we should promote Pleasant, who by everything I have read is a special coaching talent.
I also prefer staying in a 34. Not only because there would be a change in some of the personnel.
I like the fact that the 34 is a defense that teams have to prepare for differently than the 43,
which they see most weeks. I like the fact that 34 specialty type players are in less demand on
draft day.
I also like the extra element of surprise of the 34. The oline have to adjust on the fly, because the
forth guy is usually coming, but the O doesn't know from which side until post snap.
you can certainly mix it up in the 43 with stunts and bringing a fifth rusher.
But you can do the same with the 34. Just prefer the uncertainty for the oline on every snap, using the 3 man front.

.

well we know the rams won't be hiring some big name, control freak dc.

mcvay wants in on the defensive game plans.

expect some young guy who is happy to work with the hc on the defense.

.

Well we have no idea if he wants in on that side of the ball since he is the OC and DC already.

So if they go 4-3, then Morgan Fox and Justin Lawler figure in at DE. Maybe Fowler as well, if he returns, or could he be a 5th rusher at OLB? Can he cover well enough to play OLB in a 4-3? Same with Ebukam.

Can Kiser play MLB? Might be best suited for that.

Then of course the draft would likely bring more DE's and LBs.

I think Donald, Gaines and Day could handle DT, if they can get a few DE's that can play.

It's not a huge change but it's enough that for the first half of the season the players may struggle.

I personally think this is a good move by McVay. He was the one who hired Wade so what makes you guys think he wont make another good hire for the defense?

I suspect this was more or as much Snead and McVay than just McVay.

And if you think it was a good move to get rid of WP why do you think it was a good move to hire him in the first place just three years ago. That's contradictory.

Depends on who gets the DC job. I’ve read Barry is interviewing at USC. As a non Trojan dan yes please.

agree !! I’d rather Barry at USC as a Rams & S.C. fan !!!
What about Rath ??? Both guys really take charger of the energy of the practices.

I like Pleasant because he is always yelling out plays & alignments !! Keeps the CB’s & DB’s mind sets .

Rath is a strength and conditioning coach not a position coach.

As Mcvay said -(tweeted) thanks Wade for teach me to be a better coach to men !!!
The Knowledge Mcvay got from Wade was priceless to The Rams Organization. There is a time to part ways !!!
The Rams defense is going to be totally different this next season !! The Rams still need to figure out player personnel!!
Cheers !! To new beginnings !!

I know that but there was a issue with him last season.

He actually did well though as the season went on . He brings an energy to him.

Barry does as well. Goff like to talk crap to both guys !! A good spirit. Not a big fan of Barry only because I believe he is set in his ways. not enough growth.. think Wade a little of the same . Straight line ———

There will be no difficult transition to the 4-3, we never had the personnel for the 3-4 in the first place, and still dont.

And I want a BIG name guy, no 50% chance of success, I want a track record.

If it were up to me, I would hire Jeff Fisher, if he would actually come back as DC.

I don't know. My guess is McVay is a diehard burn the midnight oil kind of guy. Not sure if WP was like that, but I know from watching Fisher he is more of a project manager these days. McVay will pick a young, aggressive, cerebral guy who sleeps at the facility.

McVay wants someone who will adapt the defense week to week to attack the offense, my guess is that long term established guys won’t be about that.
