Why ??? There are some good young coaches in this coaching pool
You want to stake our team's defense during our window on an unproven?

I don't disagree with you that there is some real talent here and would love it If one of them stepped in and did great. Problem is, what if they dont? I think we need someone proven for the next few years. Personally.

Fuck no to Joe Barry.

Here's a list of guys who intrigue me aside from the bigger, better known names:
Andy Avalos DC Oregon
Jim Leonhard DC Wisconsin
Dave Aranda DC LSU
Brent Venables DC Clemson
Steve Belichick DB Coach Patriots
Jeff Ulbrich LB Coach Falcons
Mike Elko DC Texas A&M
Marcus Freeman DC UCincy

Don't know if any are ready for the big time, but they're intriguing younger guys.

My feeling is that after 3 years of learning under Phillips, McVay may be ready to take a more hands-on approach with his defense. Promoting from within, re-establishing ties with previous assistants elsewhere or taking a young guy from the college ranks he is familiar with might allow him to assert his will a little more on the defensive side of the ball, ... choosing another outside, established & highly qualified DC may put off that desire to make this team 100% his right now, it also raises the potential for losing him next year when teams are looking for Head Coaches again.
This could go in a lot of different directions, i'm just going to enjoy the ride until the ink dries.

Ulbrich damn near quit on Jim Mora during a game when he was coaching at UCLA

Well there is a long ways to go !! My thought is Snead can find a excellent young MLB ?? Maybe not ?? The pieces
are going to take a little while to start to play out. My guess is The Rams have there chess pieces already starting to align.
There are always going to be a counter. I’ve followed Les Snead pretty tight over his Rams career, I think some of his concept will remain the same.
My opinions come from my gut & press release that indicate a direction a player or the franchise may go.

1. Gurley ?? Just think time is right & away to move ahead with some of the contracts The Rams have given out. Don’t think The Rams even get much for him ?? Examples are Ogletree & Quinn ??
2. Littleton said he was not happy with the statement from Les & wants to move on. No hard feelings but would stay. Snead saying we want happy players & won’t keep a player if he wants out.
3. Fowler wants to stay & talked crap about Jags franchise & happy with being back with RAMsey !!!
4. Whitworth is a Mcvay guy !! The old Bro””

we all have are opions & I honor yours . Will see —

Love it !!! I’m still on the side of losing a couple games extra for The Rams to be in this position?? Yeah- I know, but the O”line got valuable experience & an extra week to shuffle things around. Would hate to be whodat nation right now.

After three years Ram's D still mid pack.

That, and those embarrassingly disgraceful performances against TB, Balt, and Dallas sealed WP's fate.

Have to do a better job to remain on McVay's team.

I like our HC's approach.

There will be no difficult transition to the 4-3, we never had the personnel for the 3-4 in the first place, and still dont.

And I want a BIG name guy, no 50% chance of success, I want a track record.

If it were up to me, I would hire Jeff Fisher, if he would actually come back as DC.

HOLLY mother fucker & Marry !!! Fisher ??

Eric Dickerson, Demoff, & Snead would lover that !! Lmao

@So Ram Hey dude I'm sorry was hoping you could shed some light I missed the Littleton Snead exchange. What happened with that? That sounds so unlike Littleton.

I don't like this. Sean obviously wasn't going to be the fall guy, but I just don't see Wade as a problem. Maybe it will make sense after we see who's hired for DC. They would probably promote from within if the rest of the defensive staff is retained right? What high profile guy would come in if he can't bring in any of his assistants?

@hotanez

I'm so sick of people and this fucking different opinion button.

Speak up. Explain to me how Donald cant go back inside with gains with Fox and hopefully Fowler on the outside.

Explain to me how our secondary wouldn't work

And then how I was wrong about the LBs.
If your so sick of people and the functions in this forum why be a member? I disagree with the idea that a transition to the 4-3 would be easy. We don't have the players to play at DE in that scheme. Who would be the sole MLB? We don't have one that fits. Sorry if it bothers you I disagree and don't respond to you right away but you can always go kick rocks for all I care.

Wade never had the players to play his scheme which is press man outside (both sides) and a strong cover 1 FS with the speed not having to shade to one side or the other. Look who he's had in his secondary, forcing him to play zone which is not how he wants to play. Now that he has the secondary they fire him?

Kromer is the biggest problem IMO. Just look at the mess the run game he supposedly coordinated. Look at the mess on the o-line where the guys showed a disturbing lack of technique. Please no Joe Barry he's fine as a LB position coach but he's failed at the two times he's been a DC for good reason.

They need to bring in someone from the outside who is versed in the 3-4 hybrid. They don't have the players to play a Tampa 2 or 4-3. A Tampa 2 is vulnerable to a strong run attack between the tackles and good receiving TE's. This would put the Rams at a disadvantage within the division. This is why both the Rams and Niners match up so well against the Sea Hawks.

When and where was this said by either of them?

I dont think its that big of an overhaul to switch at all. Not sure why I see people saying that. Our Line would be easy. LB is the only fix and I think we have one or two guys that will transition well

I think we both hit the "not so sure" button. On a few occasions, I have posted that changing to a 4-3 might be difficult this season. Rams losing Brockers and at least Fowler or Littleton or both. The Rams have smaller OLBers to take over for Fowler. Obo, Ebu and Polite to name a few. None are DE types based on size and pass rush skills. Like Fowler, I think they rush better standing up off the edge. Fox has been a decent rotational guy and may see more playing time. I don't see him as a big-time DE. I'm not sure what they would do at LBer. Littleton may be a little light to play the 4-3 Mike. While the Rams still have questions as a 3-4 defense I think they have more with a 4-3 defense. They need to get bigger and stronger on the front 7 either way. They don't have much cap space remaining.

In my plan we would need to keep Brockers. I thought fowler but someone pointed out that he just isn't that good in that roll and it made since to me. So I get that. I think fox could be good there. I acknowledge our challenge would be LB. But I think we can make it work for a season. It's never super smooth.

Also, I've never hit that button. Haha

Damn shame about this whole thing. Hope nothing but the best for Wade. Yeah Defense was allover the place, but so was everything else. Just kind of feels like Wade was the fall guy in the grand scheme of things and others should share the same amount of blame. Good Luck Mr. Phillips glad you were a part of this organization...
