I don't see how saving $3 million is good? How receiving a 6th round pick was good? For the #2 overall....

I think we didn't have the leverage to get more. I'm sure a team without a LT for a few months could have at least sent a 3rd. Greg is gonna start over there...should have been a 3rd or better.

This is funny....but I'm looking at all of our 1st round picks...only good one Tree....great one is Donald...name another 1st rounder that's working out?
Considering what Havenstein looked like, I would say yeah, make that change. Still, we should have drafted Lamp...Brown has looked horrible sometimes too as a pass protector...Not the blown assignments....but getting ran over is something I doubt you can "coach-up".
Its like getting in a car wreck but someone still wants to by the totaled car for 3 million dollars. Yea it sucks he was a previous 2nd overall pick and he was a bust. We are lucky we are getting anything for his ass.

Decker, TJ Lang and Wagner would seem to have the LT, RG and RT spots on lockdown.
Grob could compete for the LG spot but I am thinking more as swing T depth.
The Lions new personal guy came from NE....a priority on O line....they spent a bunch in FA on Wagner and Lang.
Trying to contend while Stafford is still young enough is the goal and that starts up front.
Grob is probably an expensive flyer. If he can get the starting LG gig, which would be doubtful, then he is a back up with plenty of starting experience. I get why they did it.
So, I don't think he was brought in to start.
I think he can provide some depth while they see if they can get him to develop.

The Rams front office can't change that. All they can do is make the best of what is in front of them today. Saving $3M and getting any draft capital for him is still a positive.
Nothing can be done for Greg....6th round picks are....well, 6th round picks.

The only thing we can hope from all of this...is the guy that selected all these 1st round picks...is NOT allowed to select another one.

It is a real pointing out if the failings of the previous admin.
Using the 2nd overall pic on a guy who either couldn't play or they couldn't develop is striking.
If he turns into a good player with the Lions that is further indictment. Didn't read what the Lions gave up but if it's not much a no brainer for them. Take a flyer on an athletically gifted guy and see if he can be turned around.
I think by the time Grob arrived is Fisher-land the atmosphere was poisened. Snead has to wear this pick too. For the Rams he was an epic bust given where he was taken. I'm not saying I would have fired Snead after last if I were the owner but this pic would have been the biggest argument in favor of firing.
That said, I'm glad Snead was retained overall an I wish Grob luck in turning things around.

I have said for a long time that Ram player were not being coached up. You could see it when free agents signed and started to go down hill with the Rams especially on the offensive side of the ball. Let's not forget that Snead drafted Donald in that same draft when they did not even need a DT. This was a great move to somewhat off set the Robinson pick. The Rams have had some bust picks on the OL due to drafting strictly for need and not taking the best player available, this is why they hit a home run on Donald.

I'd rather they use the newly freed-up cap room to get AD locked down, first and foremost.
That would be wise too. I figured the 3.3 is for this year and the Donald contract would start next year. I'm no demoff clearly.

"This in" Greg Robinson dominates in Detroit, and makes a pro bowl appearance for his stellar performance in the 2017 season..."If" that happened I would laugh. Obviously he didn't fit the bill on this team maybe he will elsewhere...

Rams announce trade of Greg Robinson, another busted Redskins pick

In 2012, the Rams grifted the Redskins for the second overall pick in the draft. Or so the Rams thought.

Yes, the then-St. Louis franchise swapped the No. 2 overall pick for the sixth overall selection, two more first-round picks, and a second-round pick. And, yes, the Rams trolled their trade partners by declaring that they intend to dominate with Washington picks.

That definitely didn’t happen in 2014, when with the final pick acquired in the trade that allowed Washington to draft Robert Griffin III the Rams selected tackle Greg Robinson. Despite the contemporaneous perfunctory proclamations that, like every other first-round pick, Robinson would great, some league insiders were skeptical.

The thinking was that Robinson entered the league as a bust waiting to happen, due in part to the fundamental differences between the incredibly simple offense and blocking schemes at Auburn and the far more complicated assignments at the next level.

While Robinson started in 42 of 46 games, he didn’t do enough to stick with the Rams. In May, they opted to pass on his fifth-year option. In June, they unloaded him onto the Lions for a sixth-round pick.

“Since we drafted Greg, he has been committed to our organization, his teammates and community outreach,” Rams G.M. Les Snead said in the press release announcing the move. “We appreciate his dedication and the effort he’s put forth over the past three seasons. We wish him the best as he embarks on this new chapter.”

On one hand, it’s good that the Rams were willing to admit their mistake — and able to salvage a pick and avoid paying his 2017 guaranteed salary. On the other hand, they had an opportunity three years ago to parlay a pair of first-round picks into the nucleus of a team that could have taken L.A. by storm.

More specifically, with their other first-round pick that year, the Rams took Aaron Donald. But they also could have had Khalil Mack, Mike Evans, or Odell Beckham Jr.

It's a good point.
We will see how Havenstein and Brown play out. If they don't, well, hi ability to draft lineman would be in doubt.

OK. Now I want an explanation from McVay Kromer and Snead. What EXACTLY was GRob's problems? Don't phuc around trying to sugar coat it. I want to hear what was discussed in that room where you all came to the conclusion he was not going to work out. I want details.

With the Rams' buzzard luck, GRob will play above average LT for the Lions the next 10 years.

I'm figuring that any new deal for AD would include sweetening the pot for this year, as well. And freeing up 3.3M gives KD some wiggle room to accomplish that.

Was mentioned in another post that the Lions lost their Left Tackle Taylor Decker for several months so this gives them a LT with plenty of experience for a 6th, whereas, Rams get a draft choice and save close to 3.5 million good for all parties involved.
Yep called that Monday, thought it would put an end to this matter. GUess Snead might come in here from time to time after all.

I didn't realize Decker went down.
Well, good luck with that Stafford.
If Decker is down for a couple of months then Grob can revert to a swing T role I suppose.

Yayyyy no we can finally move on without people thinking he's the next coming of Bruce Matthews.

Clearly a Fisher pick.
