Also who is Kingsbury anyway. He was fired as a college coach. To me it is a little early to let a HC with a super spotty track record call the shots to a GM. Murray is way undersized and one good shot and there goes the Cards chances.

All of this^^^^^^

How many Air Raid coaches have succeeded in the NFL? Zero

We can only be supportive of this direction.

I hate to do it but I totally disagree with Kurt Warner and the anonymous GM that both said they would only give up a 3rd rounder for Rosen. They would have said the same about Goff after year 1. The Cards had a lousy team and lousy OL even David Johnson couldn't get going. The Cards are in transition.

Rosen needs the right HC and a way better OL and better WR pieces around him.

By giving up the first pick they lose out on Bosa and only the Giants make sense because they are at 6. I would say the Jags but it looks like they are into Foles god knows why. Both work for the Cards because they are not dropping down too much and will still get a premium Edge rusher. At 13 or 15 all 5 should be gone.

This off-season is going to be real interesting for FA and the draft.

The difference between Goff and Rosen is that Goff has always been considered a leader and was respected by his teammates and made a terrible team a contender.

It’s widely known that Rosen is a douche and isn’t considered leadership material-that’s why ex-players like Warner and a lot of other respected names are throwing around a 3rd rounder as compensation. No one wants someone with an a$$hole personality as their QB.

I could see the Skins snag him. The Pats seems like a real landing spot as well. Will be interesting to watch the carrousel this year.

Giants and Chargers need to think future QB at some point as well.

If Rosen goes on the trade block and some team snaps him up for a round 3 pick, they will be getting one hell of a steal in terms of draft value IMO.

We'll see how this develops of course but I do also wonder whether the Cards are trying to increase the value for trade, where whoever is gunning for that 1 overall knows they have to pay over the top to get them to pass on a guy they want.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...eptitude-of-so-many-recent-qb-moves-and-more/

Why Cardinals aren't fooling anyone about No. 1 pick, the ineptitude of so many recent QB moves and more

In this league, and especially this time of year, there tends to be a ridiculous amount of smoke. And, sometimes, well, all it amounts to – "it" being a steadily-building cacophony of whispers and tweets and texts and, eventually, outright screams about a particular rumor – is smoke. And sometimes, well, what we are obsessing about is in fact just the worst kept secret in the history of the world.

In the case of Kyler Murray to the Cardinals with the first-overall pick, it is decidedly the latter. Something that steadily built and then caught fire at the combine last week refuses to go away. And that is because it is going to happen. Every conversation I have had since getting back from Indianapolis – including several with people who would have first-hand knowledge of such an arrangement between said player and team – has led me to believe, thoroughly and completely, that this is going to happen.

The Cardinals ownership knows it. Kliff Kingsbury knows it. Kyler Murray knows it. It is happening.

It's been in the works since the Cardinals decided to take a leap on the offensive-minded head coach who just got fired in the Big 12 with a losing record and who had just been brought on as an offensive coordinator at USC. This is Kingsbury's quarterback, and, by virtue of their lost season and 3-13 record, the Cardinals have the first selection in the draft, and so it's case closed. Done deal.

Whereas a week ago I would have told you Murray is definitely going top five, and whereas three days ago I would have told you Murray is going first overall – but perhaps not to Arizona if someone blew them away with a trade offer – I am now thoroughly convinced that this is the surest first-overall-QB lock in March since Andrew Luck. And, trust me, by this point Josh Rosen, the kid the Cardinals traded up to select 10th overall less than a year ago, absolutely, positively must know it as well. How can he not?

(Brief aside: Waste not any more breath or time or brain power on the report about Murray's lack of leadership and ability to lead and, apparently, make a half-decent impression on NFL teams. He is going first overall. None of that matters even if true – it's not – and let's try not to reach peak Silly Season less than a week after the combine, okay? There are still, like, seven weeks until the draft. Let's pace ourselves).

Of course, the Cardinals won't proclaim it now. It serves them no purpose to do so. They have already devalued Rosen exponentially on their own. No reason to further crush their own limited trade market by announcing their intent. And a lot could happen, in theory, between now and late April, when they actually turn in the card with Murray's name on it.

But they also aren't fooling anyone, either. And it would behoove them to go ahead and deal Rosen now, lest some college quarterbacks boost their stock at their pro days or on their personal visits. No reason to let Rosen dangle; he didn't ask for any of this and doesn't deserve any of this, and he's not the guy who spent last training camp suspended, and he didn't hire Steve Wilks only to fire him like 10 months later and he didn't give Sam Bradford $15M to start games and fire offensive coordinator Mike McCoy in October.

Yet it is very much he who got pummeled behind a faux offensive line and had no talent and little scheme around him to boost him up and it is he who, probably, lost confidence with an entire organization now caught up very publicly in this Murray escapade. It is he who must be wondering if the Cardinals would have simply traded up to 10th overall (it was clear by this time a year ago the Raiders were incredibly motivated to trade out of that pick and were shopping it all over) for whomever the fourth QB off the board in the 2018 draft was going to be. If/when the Cards draft Murray how could you presume anything but that?

And, sadly for Rosen, it is he who is still probably headed to Washington – where quarterbacks go to get broken, and where no one who has followed this sport for any amount of time could expect him to succeed. This Case Keenum trade changes nothing and, if anything, gives the Skins a little more cover to offer no more than a third-round pick for Rosen.

Where else is he going?

Washington still needs a young potential starter and is hampered by Alex Smith's injury guarantees, limiting them to cheap options like Rosen (and at 15th overall they are in no-man's land for QBs in this draft). Miami might make some sense … but they may have eyes on Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert in 2020. Otherwise, what am I missing? Jacksonville is in win-now mode when it should be rebuilding, and Nick Foles makes the most sense for them (at, say $15M per year). Some have suggested New England – newsflash: if Brady goes down they ain't winning anything with Rosen and they could sign Jacoby Brissett as a UFA a year from now to be Brady's heir, again.

Are you following all of this? We are now at a point where the following have taken place in less than a year:

The Broncos gave Case Keenum $25M fully guaranteed over two years at a point in free agency in which they had little competition for his services, with at least some eye toward Gary Kubiak being his OC by 2019. Kubiak and John Elway had another falling out. Kubiak left for Minnesota, where Keenum had his breakthrough 2017 season, and Elway traded a fourth-round pick for a quarterback making $18M who has a worse QB rating than Case Keenum since 2012 (Joe Flacco) at a time when the Ravens had no other real trade options for Flacco, who they would have cut had Denver not dealt for him given his $26M cap charge.

The Skins paid Alex Smith $54M guaranteed in future years when they could have rented Smith for one year at $17M and then franchised him twice in a row for less money than what they gave him at the time of the trade (oh, and they traded a starting slot corner as well). So when Smith gets hurt – career-ending, in all likelihood – they now take Keenum off Elway's hands, even though Denver would have had to merely cut him shortly because it couldn't carry Flacco and Keenum at $18M each and still rebuild a roster.

And, with Keenum and Colt McCoy "competing" for a starting job, they still need a young QB of any stature, so they are the best bet to trade for Rosen, who the Cardinals moved up to draft 10th overall, just, like, 10 months ago, and are now primed to take yet another quarterback first-overall.

Somewhere in New England, Bill Belichick is laughing himself silly. No need to wonder why certain teams compete with regularity and others constantly flail. No mystery as to why inefficiency plagues this league despite every part of the NFL's structure built to ensure parity and corporate welfare for billionaires. And the league year hasn't even officially opened yet.

Washington would have been better off trading for Rosen and let McCoy play until they are out of the division race.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ers-for-josh-rosen-want-to-save-face-in-deal/

Cardinals reportedly receive two trade offers for Josh Rosen, want to 'save face' in deal
A new report indicates there are, in fact, teams calling Arizona about its former first-rounder

What will happen to 2018 first-round draft pick Josh Rosen? It depends on who you listen to.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback has been a regular subject of trade speculation for much of the offseason, what with new coach Kliff Kingsbury openly infatuated with Heisman Trophy winner and potential No. 1 draft pick Kyler Murray (check out his draft profile here). Kingsbury, of course, has repeatedly downplayed the possibility of the Cards honing in on Murray, saying the team remains undecided on the first pick and telling reporters in February that Rosen remains "our guy." But some reports suggest Arizona has already begun shopping the second-year signal-caller.

Fox Sports' Joel Klatt reported in March that the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots and New York Giants are "very interested" in Rosen, indicating that one of those teams has already offered a second-round pick for the UCLA product.

Now, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller has added fuel to the fire, reporting Fridaythat the Cardinals have received two trade offers for Rosen to date. Per an anonymous AFC executive cited by Miller, Arizona wants to hold out for as close to a first-rounder as it can get in order to "save face" after drafting Rosen 10th overall less than a year ago.

"They're hoping the closer to the draft we get," Miller writes, "some team is going to realize they will miss out on (Dwayne) Haskins or (Drew) Lock ... or just remember that Rosen is better than either of them ... and pony up a late first-rounder."

Is that what will happen? We now have less than three weeks until we find out who will be the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. You can check out all our mock drafts in one spot right here.

I don't think Rosen will be traded until after the Cardinals make their pick.

A Rosen trade could change things up a little bit in a draft that doesn't seem to have agreements from mockers on first picks. The Chargers need a Rivers replacement soon and Rosen should be comfortable back in LA. The Giants better get a plan to replace Eli. They have two first round picks which they could move pick 17 and get something else with a Rosen trade. I'm not sure Rosen would work out in New York as the media and fans can be very difficult to deal with. That leave the Patsies. Late first round pick and the heir apparent to Brady. Might be a high price to pay if Brady plays two more years. He could learn while waiting his chance. These Rosen trade possibility adds more puzzle pieces to a mystery first round draft that begins in less than three weeks until it starts.

Another interesting thread topic, indeed.

I’ll chip in, too, with a few general thoughts.

I don’t think Rosen benefited from quality NFL coaching last year. It seemed eerily similar to Goff in his rookie year under Fisher. IOW, Rosen might be a steal just waiting for some coaches that know what the hell they’re doing.

A 3rd for Rosen sounds about right to me. Getting a 1st is a pipe dream.

Kyler Murray is short, but DAMN! The kid can play. He’s a winner and he has “it”. Some team is gonna get a Russell Wilson type QB for the next 12-15 years if they can properly develop the kid and surround him with some talent on O. Mark my words.

I’m not looking forward to facing Murray twice a year as the Cards QB, that’s for damned sure. Or Bosa with the Niners, either, but that’s looking like exactly what may happen, huh? Geez...

All I know is that whichever decision Keim and Kingsbury make, I hope it is a complete and utter failure.
I think Arizona is foolish if they don't keep Rosen. Unless rosen's personality rubbed them the wrong way. In that case. A team would have to look for why after only one year the cards want to dump him. Seems like it would be hard to give up a 1st rounder for a locker room cancer. Which would be the only reason to not keep him.

My thoughts

Rosen is a franchise QB. I could care less about "leadership' attributes as the great Aarom Rogers just got dinged on that.

If Rosen came out this year he is at worst second best Qb.

Someone will steal Rosen.

Yeah, articles don't get clicks and don't generate buzz if they say this is all a smokescreen. But until a trade is announced, I'm going with this is all a smokescreen, like the guy in the first response to this thread said over a month ago.

Breaking down Rosen's tape and giving a plan to fix the QB helped get KK hired:

* How he won over Bidwilll and Keim during his interview by recommending that he break down film of quarterback Josh Rosen in front of them to sell his plan.

“Obviously, I knew why they were interested in me and that was quarterback mentorship and offensive football and I wanted to make sure they knew I was passionate about our plan and their plan and I could see where we could take this thing. Josh is very, very talented, a tremendous thrower of the football. I followed him in college, watched him last year, and I just wanted to point out some things that I saw where I thought we could help. ... I think he understands why I’m here as well and that we’ll be tied together on this deal, so we want to maximize together what we can be, offensively.”

Sure KK said nice things about KM, but he's said nice things about Rosen too:
However, Kingsbury, who said he wants to understand what makes Rosen tick, has made one evaluation just from watching Rosen.

"Josh Rosen is incredibly talented, one of the most talented throwers you'll see," Kingsbury said. "A young player, obviously, that I'm excited to work with and develop. But as a pure thrower, it's hard to find a guy that throws it better."
https://abc7.com/sports/cardinals-kliff-kingsbury-says-staffing-search-is-fully-underway/5042849/

I remember a few years back when all kinds of draft "experts" were convinced the Rams would trade the first pick in the second round to help rebuild the team. Nope. Instead, the Rams kept the pick and drafted Saffold. I get the feeling the current "expert" talk of the Cards trading Rosen is of similar value.
