Have fun getting more reps with a lesser team and higher injury risk. Don't know what the incentives were but I believe that he would've fulfilled them in a deep playoff run

I apologize if this has already been answered/discussed but how much salary cap savings do the Rams get if they do let him go and at his age would any Non-Playoff Contender really be interested at this time in trading for him?

With Jefferson, Tutu and Harris the Rams are very deep at WR. I'd rather see Harris who will initially draw single coverage as an unknown. But with his size and speed he's a mismatch over any DB. He can play out of the slot or as a second TE as the route tree is the same. Harris is a forgotten man on this roster and we can't forget all the reps he got with the ones, i.e. Stafford. His size and speed make him more dangerous than D. Jack.

I don't think they are looking for a player and I doubt he was going to be re-signed anyway. I think they are looking for a draft pick. A 5th or even 6th round would be something better than nothing if he isn't going to be re-signed. I'm all for it if they can move him.
Two of those three are exceptionally unproven.

Just another NFL player who's prioritizing his bank account over team success. I get it, I don't blame him. You gotta get that money while you can. But it really takes out of the purity of the sport when stuff like this comes out or you see it in their play. Gotta have that money.
To me “purity of the sport” doesn’t really exist once there’s money involved. Athletes are used up and discarded for profit and they only have a short window to get their money in a lot of cases. But he came on board knowing Kupp and Woods are the backbone of this offense but clearly he had expectations when he agreed to come on, so now it seems he doesn’t feel like McVay is holding up his end, and his money is based on his playing. We don’t know what he was promised so it’s hard to say who’s the bad guy but this doesn’t look fixable.

About $1.75mil. would be removed from his remaining salary, although his dead money could off-set any savings to the CAP. Any real gains would likely come from a hopefully decent future draft pick.

From our seats it’s not easy to figure. On one hand good riddance and in the other hand ‘Oh shit!’

I’d rather it didn’t happen, like @Merlin, it sucks from a depth standpoint, but if he’s been bitching that’s not good. Who knows? Either way it’s safe to say that he actually felt that he’d meet all of his incentives and walk away with a nice retirement cache. While McVay never really planned for the incentives to kick in.

So DJ was naive to believe it, McVay was a jerk to sell it…maybe. Either way I don’t celebrate two or three unknown players taking over the role of fourth receiver.
Woods wasn't happy either. He complained to McVay and got the ball thrown to him a lot... for one game.

Selfish? Yes. Us fans.

This is still a business and the guy is probably at or near the end of his career getting very little playing time with an incentive laden contract.

If true, I don't blame him at all.

Financials aside, these guys have just so many years to play. I'd hate to spend what could potentially be my last year just watching too, if I could help it
If I were an injury prone dude, I'd love to spend one of my final years playing 20% of offensive snaps on a great team, making good money, and getting to produce some explosive plays as an afterthought while having a shot at winning a ring. I'm pretty shocked that DeSean Jackson wasn't aware he'd be the #4 WR.

I'm kinda surprised he opened his mouth though. He started off hot but not lately. With his injury history him faring better with another team is far from a certainty. The season is nearly half over on top of it.

Yeah, a bit of a dilemma for some of our posters. He's a bum and we shouldn't have signed him but now we can't afford to lose him and he's a bum for wanting to go somewhere where he can play.

Of course he was aware he would be the #4 receiver. The question is what understanding he had with McVay about getting a chance to make plays. And you can't fault a competitor for actually wanting to compete.

He is under contract with us...I'm making sure I get a position of need in exchange for him, preferably something on the defensive side.

Your comment probably resonates with most of us fans.

The reality is, you've never been an injury prone NFL player with the ego DeSean Jackson has.

I get what you're saying but Jackson probably went to McVay asking for assurance his snaps and targets were going to tick up starting this Sunday at the Texans.

McVay probably told him face to face I can't promise what you're asking for and their conversation probably went south from there.

Jackson probably got offended and now he's front page news asking to be traded and McVay is honoring his request.

DeSean made it clear he's a me not we player and McVay didn't cave in to his demands.

Just my 2 cents. I could be wrong and I wanted him on the playoff roster.

And honestly here I was of the opinion we were saving him for late season crunch time due to his perceived frailty

Silly me

You don’t have to like a guy for them to be a good part of the team. Leonard Little killed a lady but he was a heck of a DE.

I was never a fan of DeSeans but liked his long TDS. It is very odd that McVay signed him then didn’t use DeSean much. I still think he could be utilized successfully. I’d still cheer for the team if he were to stay and score a on more bombs. The Rams face six more teams with winning records. One injury and weed be wishing he was still around.

Thank You for the Information! Personally, I hope the Rams don’t trade Jackson UNLESS it leads to an opportunity to trade for a veteran player (LB/OK/RB?) that can help the Rams in the immediate future (Playoffs!)! I still think Jackson’s experience and speed can prove useful to the Rams the rest of this season UNLESS Jackson has put the Rams in a “NO CHOICE” situation!

Beaten out? DJax was never going to be the third receiver. He knew that. But he expected to get some passes his way and, based on his play, deserved to. A better question would be why McVay didn't use him more.
I don't believe Jefferson's job was a done deal. He won that job and after this last game looks to be cementing it and now DJax is not happy with the pecking order.

I don't blame DJax at all for wanting out. I was checking his snaps and no one would be happy with that little, especially a vet. It's like they were keeping it down to save money. McVay pretty much promised him a role to get him to sign. All he had to do was stay off the injury list. And he did. DJax kept his part of the deal. We may hear more on that later. Doubt he stays silent. I'd also be a little surprised if a trade happens.

Time for TuTu anyway. Guy caught almost every pass thrown at him in preseason. Would like to see him on offense, as well as Skow and Harris. But this is pretty much due to Vann's improvements. Fuller was raving about how he's way ahead of where he was a rookie, and we've seen the results.

Not sure why everyone sounds like McVay is on Stafford's ears while the play is developing and is directing him on where to throw it?

Maybe he's not as open as the rest? I'm sure teams are looking for the the deep routes when D Jackson is on the field.
