Two of those three are exceptionally unproven. With Jefferson, Tutu and Harris the Rams are very deep at WR. I'd rather see Harris who will initially draw single coverage as an unknown. But with his size and speed he's a mismatch over any DB. He can play out of the slot or as a second TE as the route tree is the same. Harris is a forgotten man on this roster and we can't forget all the reps he got with the ones, i.e. Stafford. His size and speed make him more dangerous than D. Jack.
I don't think they are looking for a player and I doubt he was going to be re-signed anyway. I think they are looking for a draft pick. A 5th or even 6th round would be something better than nothing if he isn't going to be re-signed. I'm all for it if they can move him.
To me “purity of the sport” doesn’t really exist once there’s money involved. Athletes are used up and discarded for profit and they only have a short window to get their money in a lot of cases. But he came on board knowing Kupp and Woods are the backbone of this offense but clearly he had expectations when he agreed to come on, so now it seems he doesn’t feel like McVay is holding up his end, and his money is based on his playing. We don’t know what he was promised so it’s hard to say who’s the bad guy but this doesn’t look fixable.Just another NFL player who's prioritizing his bank account over team success. I get it, I don't blame him. You gotta get that money while you can. But it really takes out of the purity of the sport when stuff like this comes out or you see it in their play. Gotta have that money.
I apologize if this has already been answered/discussed but how much salary cap savings do the Rams get if they do let him go and at his age would any Non-Playoff Contender really be interested at this time in trading for him?
Woods wasn't happy either. He complained to McVay and got the ball thrown to him a lot... for one game. From our seats it’s not easy to figure. On one hand good riddance and in the other hand ‘Oh shit!’
I’d rather it didn’t happen, like @Merlin, it sucks from a depth standpoint, but if he’s been bitching that’s not good. Who knows? Either way it’s safe to say that he actually felt that he’d meet all of his incentives and walk away with a nice retirement cache. While McVay never really planned for the incentives to kick in.
So DJ was naive to believe it, McVay was a jerk to sell it…maybe. Either way I don’t celebrate two or three unknown players taking over the role of fourth receiver.
If I were an injury prone dude, I'd love to spend one of my final years playing 20% of offensive snaps on a great team, making good money, and getting to produce some explosive plays as an afterthought while having a shot at winning a ring. I'm pretty shocked that DeSean Jackson wasn't aware he'd be the #4 WR.Selfish? Yes. Us fans.
This is still a business and the guy is probably at or near the end of his career getting very little playing time with an incentive laden contract.
If true, I don't blame him at all.
Financials aside, these guys have just so many years to play. I'd hate to spend what could potentially be my last year just watching too, if I could help it
I'm kinda surprised he opened his mouth though. He started off hot but not lately. With his injury history him faring better with another team is far from a certainty. The season is nearly half over on top of it.To me “purity of the sport” doesn’t really exist once there’s money involved. Yeah, a bit of a dilemma for some of our posters. He's a bum and we shouldn't have signed him but now we can't afford to lose him and he's a bum for wanting to go somewhere where he can play. From our seats it’s not easy to figure. On one hand good riddance and in the other hand ‘Oh shit!’
Of course he was aware he would be the #4 receiver. The question is what understanding he had with McVay about getting a chance to make plays. And you can't fault a competitor for actually wanting to compete. If I were an injury prone dude, I'd love to spend one of my final years playing 20% of offensive snaps on a great team, making good money, and getting to produce some explosive plays as an afterthought while having a shot at winning a ring. You don’t have to like a guy for them to be a good part of the team. Leonard Little killed a lady but he was a heck of a DE.Yeah, a bit of a dilemma for some of our posters. About $1.75mil. would be removed from his remaining salary, although his dead money could off-set any savings to the CAP. Any real gains would likely come from a hopefully decent future draft pick.

My thoughts exactly."Hey Brad, this is Les. How's your receiver situation up there in the Motor City?"
I don't believe Jefferson's job was a done deal. He won that job and after this last game looks to be cementing it and now DJax is not happy with the pecking order.Beaten out? DJax was never going to be the third receiver. He knew that. But he expected to get some passes his way and, based on his play, deserved to. A better question would be why McVay didn't use him more.
Not sure why everyone sounds like McVay is on Stafford's ears while the play is developing and is directing him on where to throw it?Woods wasn't happy either. He complained to McVay and got the ball thrown to him a lot... for one game.
