If I were an injury prone dude, I'd love to spend one of my final years playing 20% of offensive snaps on a great team, making good money, and getting to produce some explosive plays as an afterthought while having a shot at winning a ring. I'm pretty shocked that DeSean Jackson wasn't aware he'd be the #4 WR.
I wouldn't.

I'd want to play while I could. Especially given the time already missed the past few years.

A ring would be nice, but it wouldn't mean nearly as much to me if I didn't contribute as much as I could.

I'm trying to remember who it was, but I remember where a former NBA vet at the end of his career went somewhere to get a ring and mostly sat on the bench during a Championship run say something similar.

So what will really irritate me is if we don't find a trade partner and release him. Then he signs with the packers and puts them over the top for a ring....

I mean, the Kenny Young trade, now this.... There has to be a deal in the works, or our FO is going to look kinda silly. You don't trade away a starting LB and a deep threat when you are a 6-1 team with SB aspirations..... Right???

DeSean made it clear he's a me not we player and McVay didn't cave in to his demands.

kenny young somehow "we not me"'d himself to denver.

the team wants "we not me" from the players but they are definitely making decisions for "me not we".

what good is the rams winning the championship for kenny young now?

.

I’m having trouble understanding this, felt Jackson was an asset & should have been out in the field more. Atwell seems fragile but maybe more TuTu running deep routes is the plan.

I disagree. No one likes being hired to do something and then not being given the opportunity to do it. You might not like it either.
This. Makes you wonder about mcvay sometimes. Seems simple to rotate him in. Jackson is what he is and mcvay knew him. So what changed. I don't buy the selfish thing.

I had already assumed the Rams removed all the We-Not-Me jargon from the walls by now. That started ringing hollow yrs ago when they shipped players out (like Aqib, etc.).

They valued the team over the individual players and that somehow invalidates We Not Me? We Not Me is about doing what's best for the team at the expense of the individual. If they were going to show undying loyalty to players that weren't contributing to trying to win a championship, the motto would be "prepare to be assimilated" or "players go in, but they never come out".

Nobody saw Kupp/Stafford becoming a tandem that will be talked about 100 years from now in Rams lore. Desean should understand this. I'll take Kupp/Stafford and them most likely going into the HOF and look at Desean as successful collateral damage.

I don't see any team giving anything for him when it looks like he will end up being released. All I have to say is F*** him!

I don’t know that the Rams we’re gonna make any move after Young was dealt… but clearing DeSean will allow them to pick up a decent player, imo.

I get it he wants more PT but if he gets more PT he's going to get hurt. Trade his ass to the Lions or Texans.
Just read JAX wants a speed WR, send him there.

No I'm not his mom.

But contrary to what may be popular belief, everyone doesn't play for the same reasons.

Some may realize it's a business and play for money and try to make as much as they can while they are still able.

Some may be fine be sitting on the sidelines of a winning team for the chance at a ring while hardly contributing.

At the same time this might be agony for others.

Some may simply love the game so much they want to play as much as they can while they still can even if it means they don't get a ring.

And then there are some that may go for the rah rah let's go team perspective which fans not putting their bodies on the line prefer.

Chances are a player can feel each of these things at different points in their careers.

I simply don't begrudge these guys for whatever perspective.
I agree. It all goes to shit though if a guy becomes a locker room lawyer and spreads his displeasure thru the team. I don't know if he is or isn't doing that. But it is a possible scenario that the team wouldn't put up with. By the way. If the team can't trade him and they let him go, the team is on the hook for the base salary.

Ok, read another article on ESPN. It is possible that the Rams have just allowed Jackson to look for trade options. I am sure he thought he was going to get more snaps. When or if a trade doesn't happen he will come back and be part of the team and be used as seen fit. I don't think the rams wanted this and saw him as an asset to use when they wanted. If he can't find a trade, rather than let him go and pay him they will continue to keep him on the roster.
