Why couldn’t McVay get him more snaps? I thought things were shaping up pretty well, the way Kupp is playing he has to be the defenses focus so 2-3 times a game take a shot with Jackson. You would think that there are going to be opportunities when good teams try to take Kupp away.
Or maybe it wasn’t the lack of deep speed that kept them from going over the top last year. Van has a deep ball, Kupp has several and Jackson was open for 5 or 6, I guess McVay is confident in what he’s got. But that kind of depth is great to have just look at the packers and the Bucs.
The oline couldn't pass protect well enough to consistently go deep last year. It's a completely different situation now. A major strength of the offense.

Or be the guy to sit on the sidelines and potentially watch someone else do it while hardly contributing in getting my team the opportunity.

Are you his mom or something? There are 53 guys on the team, who knows when your number is going to be called.

But to be on a team with a shot to win a SB in your hometown....GEESH those opps dont come up that often. If he really requested a trade...thats speaks volumes to character.

Oh damn.... hopefully they flip him for a good pick so he's not a wasted signing.

Yeah, I'm not seeing much incentive for the Rams to trade him unless someone offers up a really decent draft pick.

With Jefferson, Tutu and Harris the Rams are very deep at WR. I'd rather see Harris who will initially draw single coverage as an unknown. But with his size and speed he's a mismatch over any DB. He can play out of the slot or as a second TE as the route tree is the same. Harris is a forgotten man on this roster and we can't forget all the reps he got with the ones, i.e. Stafford. His size and speed make him more dangerous than D. Jack.

I don't think they are looking for a player and I doubt he was going to be re-signed anyway. I think they are looking for a draft pick. A 5th or even 6th round would be something better than nothing if he isn't going to be re-signed. I'm all for it if they can move him.

Some potential trade destinations I'd have in mind for this fantastic team player:

You know, Jax might not be a bad idea.A coach desperately needing a new story for the media to chew on, and a rookie QB to chuck it deep a few times a game when they’re behind or just looking for a HR. Hmm

After what the Rams got for a starting LB...we might have to PAY somebody to take DJ off our hands.

Too bad because that occasional bomb over the top was nice to have in our back pocket.

C'mon man we dont know what McVay promised him when he signed? Or what he said his involvement would be. Did you think it would be this small? I certainly didn't, he's hardly ever on the field. It's a hit to our depth yes, but if that means getting Tutu touches or maybe Jacob Harris snaps now, how can you be mad? We need those young guns to develop.

But regardless I'm just saying the manner in which he asked for a trade shows he respects McVay. Old Djax would've went to the media and made a big fuss for sure. His contract is majority incentives, he can make another $3.25M if he stays healthy for a different team. Is he choosing money over a potential ring? Yes for sure. But I dont think you can knock a player for that, he's a 34yr old often injured player on his final lap. Im not mad at him wanting to get his money. Plus he will likely be going to the HOF one day. Players with that type of pride wont be happy sitting on the bench if they can still play at a high level.
You're right we don't know. But I do know him wanting out hurts our depth and that pisses me off.

The idea that we might not have had to trade Kenny Young had he spoke up earlier pisses me off even more. At least Young was a we not me kinda player.

This sounds like McVay speak for "Fuck no".

Without a doubt. Moving him hurt our depth. But that came from the Rams' side and I understand not being able to pay a depth guy what they were paying him when the cap is this tight.

Truth is after spending that round 3 pick on Jones his time was coming. And when it arrives it means Young sits. The Rams not having the space for him sucks but you gotta make the best call for the team.

Yeah, the optics kinda suck with this. It just looks like our house isn't in order. McVay has not been keeping a tidy house as of late. That can breed distrust and fuck up a culture. I am obviously not privy to the actual vibe in the locker room, and may be (and hope to be) WAY off base here...

Just another NFL player who's prioritizing his bank account over team success. I get it, I don't blame him. You gotta get that money while you can. But it really takes out of the purity of the sport when stuff like this comes out or you see it in their play. Gotta have that money.
