Um, yes.
Chicago ate Brady's lunch

I used Brady as an extreme example, there's not a system or situation that would make Goff a better option at QB than Brady - that statement is not a knock on Goff, it's something I shouldn't even need to expand on

Absolutely zero bashing in my post though. I was just pointing out what Mcvay himself said. Also, some of the things Goff struggles with feels like something a qb in year 5 would at least be better at. Not saying he needs to be elite. That's just my opinion though. I'm a couch football fan.
I think since he got that girl friend, which I believe was right around the KC game. He has not been the same since. Models have a lot of time on their hands. When they do they expect their guy to drop everything. He has been spinning his wheels ever since.

Brady played below his average and they lost, Goff played above his and they won.
Why is it so hard to give our QB some credit?

But some of the play calls by McVay in the first half were just idiotic in the first place where you need a Jackson/Mahomes QB to be successful.

Goff is not that. He is a pocket passer where if you give him more than 2.5 secs he is going to blow you apart. He is not a 1 sec QB. That is his weakness. McVay should never have made Goff try to be a 1 sec QB.

McVay adjusted in the second half and Goff started picking Miami apart in the 4th qtr when he got his head straightened out.
I agree. My post was not saying I think we should all assume Goff is just not trying hard enough.

McVay deserves equal share for Sundays debacle but I still believe in both for the long term

Maybe Goff needs to really think about what he wants more then. Does he take the car or does he take Debbie?(Bachelor Party Reference) If I was Goff I be like.

Stop practicing chip shots in your backyard with your girl drinking cocktails and hit the filmroom and work on your football craft. Your a professional act like one. That’s what a professional does day in day out. Its ok to have leisure time for hobbies, but maybe he needs to re-evaluate his passion because it doesn’t look like its a 110% in the game of football. Just saying. I know I might get ish for this but whatever. If you fail to prepare then prepare to fail. I just want whats best for this organization period.

Mcvay would be smart to draft a QB next year. Sounds like Goff isn't putting in the work that he needs to in order to be that elite talent. Sometimes drafting a guy will push him to become better.
Look at A Rodgers
Really?? Dude makes 33 mill a year and you have to waste a draft choice to make him better?
if someone paid me 33 mill a year for anything I would tear my own guts out and eat them if it would make me better at what I’m doing.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts !
He did express his thoughts that Goff and he knew that it was coming but they didn’t execute. The plays were there to be made. The hot routes appeared to be in the right spots.

They have worked on the 6 front and 0 blitz.
Jared’s got to be better and I’ve seen him be better.

But McVay owns some of this, too And he says so.

I haven't listened to the who show, but reading the OP and this thread, it seems like McVay wants to throw Goff under the bus while failing to acknowledge his own failings in going away from the run when it was working, then that's going to be a big problem going forward.

He does take ownership.

I think he expresses that he has a higher standard in mind for Jared rather than blaming Goff for all of it.

some people would do about anything to earn that kind of money but where the money is guaranteed some would say i am set for life i think i'll take it easy and have fun. i don't know how many times i have seen this happen in the nfl.

Interesting take flv. I think Rosen has too many similarities with Goff for me to be comfortable going that route (I consider both those guys to be introverts and those types are not my preference as leaders), but that said Rosen's the guy you could probably get at a reasonable cost who would fit this scheme.

I've always liked Darnold but that may be my USC background talking. I can be a homer with those guys sometimes. What I like about SD is his mental toughness, and he's talented too. But I have the feeling he'll cost more to go get.

Been saying for a couple years now that Snead needs to draft a QB and have one they like on the depth chart every season. My target would be smart and quick processors who have good accuracy but who don't stand out in the arm strength and physique areas. Just draft one of those types in midrounds and if you don't like him after camp draft another one the next year.

When you have a staff like this I think it is important to have a QB developing all the time on your roster. They're just too important. And I'd rather have that than a guy who is some middling talent and non-fit with no future behind Goff. Comes with some risk in terms of a backup who may not be ready to lead the team but on the plus side you save cap space and if he does develop you can keep cycling QBs and save cap money OR flip him for picks like the Pats did so many times behind Brady.

Again cannot agree ..it's unfair the kid has had nothing and has been running for his life since he became a jet. No weapons no line. Just like when you have good weapons and a good line or at least a decent line there is a natural progression to get better but when you don't have those things your dead before you even start or there is a natural regression if you had been a starter prior.

Look at last 3 years obviously less games but a far inferior team and offense they both have 34 int. You saw Goff last year with a bad line and he had some years under his belt and weapons still
Darnold has had no such luck.

And all I'm saying is mcvay took Goff and made him better there is no reason to think he cannot do the same for Darnold. Goff rookie season had us all nervous.

Are you comparing their games against the Bears? One was in Chicago on Thursday night, the other in LA on Monday - I'd imagine if the Rams had to play in Chicago on a short week the results would have been different.

I have no problem giving Goff credit where it's due - overall he's been awesome this year. But at the same time, he's the main reason for two of our losses - I'm wondering why people are so adverse to giving him blame.

Yeah had past tense, but even now he has me nervous. Just hope he really is the real deal. I guess we will see upcoming games how his play goes. I bet all eyes will be on him no doubt.
