So...by trading him we received about $1.5M more cap space, plus a future 7th, over and above the savings that would have been realized if we simply released him.

Two things seem pretty clear... we had no leverage in today’s trade market, and the Rams were not happy with Brockers’ inflexibility.

Rappaport reporting a 23' 7th...

Would have been nice to be a bit better than that.

If he really wanted to stay he would have taken a restructure or pay cut. Screams me not we which doesn't seem right because he's been a great leader. Not to mention we did him a favor after he failed his physical with BAL.

OTC listed a pre June trade as a $6M cap savings... Plus completely off the books next yr with no dead money. That is also important.

Our run D will miss him, but he was a guy that we knew could be considered a cap casualty.

Maybe Hav is safe now?

There was a log jam there with try hard types, run defender first type DL's. Opens a spot for them to bring in a potential interior pass rush guy who they can develop.

SJD, Gaines, Brockers, Robinson all similar in regards to their role and effectiveness in terms of pass rush.

This sucks :-(

This is not a trade per se, so perhaps getting something is a bonus

Right - lol it’s more like a

BIG BROCKERS DUMP. !! Have to get something back. Wishful thinking a 6th. Thought 7th,but 2023.

Really it’s probably better The Rams pushed it out. The roster right now is full & needs to be sorted out.

D-Line:
I know they move guys around but see Robinson starting at the 5. Too big a cap number to be a reserve. Donald primarily at the 3 (When he is not visiting Krypton or working at the Daily Planet). Joseph-Day over the center, with Gaines behind him.

Now who provides the depth? Copeland, Banks, Hoecht and Jonah Williams are current options. Could Fox be re-signed? A low-cost free agent. A draft choice (Rams picks are at a premium this year).

I think he’s referencing more money than cutting him would have netted.

This is one thing that's not being talked about enough. Fox would be a sneaky good signing if we could get him back. He had 6 sacks last year on only 39% snap count. That is very, very good. If he played 65-70% of our snaps he could be a double digit sack guy in 2021. Also has flexibility playing 3 tech and can slide out to edge occasionally. He impressed me last year.

@jrry32 Jourdan implied that they asked him to take a pay cut and that the offer to take the cut or be released or traded was on the table for awhile. They did about as right as you could do by him in this situation.

Lot’s of sentiment in trade but fact remains he made decision to leave Rams for Balt last year and it appears he refused a re-negotiation this year. So twice he showed being a Ram wasn’t his main desire, the money was. Which is his option and can’t really blame him as it’s a two-way business. Consequence however is he’s now in NFL purgatory. Good luck Mike!

I like Fox too but, coming off a strong season, wonder what kind of contract he might get.

A free agent I have been wondering about is former Brown-DL Larry Ogunjobi.

High #3, starter, still young. Was well regarded as recently as early-2019. Curious to see what kind of money he is offered.

And it’s kind of a fun name.

Is it weird that I'll miss Brockers more than Goff and JJ?
Not at all. At least not to me. I'm also a big fan of Brock the guy is a big time leader in the locker room. But he's similar to Goff in that we needed to get better in that spot anyway but where he's different from Goff is we might not upgrade said spot. Johnson was a big loss but we've known it was coming since they drafted 2x safeties last year so mentally I guess I was prepared for it.

If he really wanted to stay he would have taken a restructure or pay cut. Screams me not we which doesn't seem right because he's been a great leader. Not to mention we did him a favor after he failed his physical with BAL.
Sometimes guys have financial responsibilities too and that's his prerogative. I have no problem with that.

My wife gave me an Ogun jobi last night.

Well there was no fingers gunning up in there so perhaps it was just a jobi

The prob with Fox is he's more a rotation piece than a starter. I really like his rush ability but he does get overpowered time to time so I look at him as the guy you want coming in off the bench with fresh legs.

IMO the Rams would be wise to draft a 5T now. Because I don't trust Robinson and I think Fox even if he returns is better in a rotation.
