Yep, but you cant look to add a 3rd WR making 16-20 mill and complain about not making improvements elsewhere

Golladay only makes sense if Woods or Kupp is traded. And I can see both sides of the argument. No way we would pay all 3. And with Hudson and some other OL options still out there, I think many would rather go that route and sign DJax or draft a speed type WR. I thought John Brown would've been a nice fit but he just signed with the Raiders.

Reading the Lions don't have a 6th or 7th round pick so betting we get a 2022 pick back for him.

Interesting situation. The Rams welcomed Brockers back after he almost left to go to Baltimore. Now, a year later, it sounds like he was the lone holdout among a group of veterans asked to help out by restructuring.

I’ve always been a fan of Brockers, but from a loyalty/“we not me” standpoint, I don’t think he holds the high ground.

I wish him well, and hope we put the savings to good use.

It is what it is. His time came due is all.He can be a veteran leader in Detroit. Don’t forget about what matter. It’s more than just a game.
I’m a Aubrey Pleasant Fan as well.
Brad Holmes built relationships as well.Brockers was Holmes first pick
as a scout with The Rams.Brockers earned his and will be missed as a we guy. If it’s ME for Brockers he is descending as a player. Had a excellent first half of the season & not so much the 2nd half.

5T is one of those positions where we could get better but didn't think they'd have enough time or wherewithal to do it this offseason. Brock did play well last season btw but if you look at his body of work prior there is reason to think he might dip in 2021. Someone mentioned selling on him now and I agree in fact I feel like maybe he helped the Rams make a good decision here.

What I don't like is Robinson. But maybe he shows up this year. And either way we have another hole to fill now and this DL class isn't as good as the previous couple years.

Holding the line on his pay because of that new house or whatever reason is something I can respect. Best of luck to you 90 and thanks for some great years. :horns::cool::horns:

We probably cut bait at the right time. His best years will likely be behind him sooner rather than later. And I understand why we did it - we need to clear cap space, and we have some depth there. But losing Brock for what seems likely to be almost nothing is what bothers me. His contract wasn't egregious. I think he is a player that still has tangible value. But because of the Rams' poor cap management, this is the position we are in, dealing a useful player for pennies on the dollar, and the contract we are shedding is hardly an albatross. Let this be further evidence that the huge contracts blowing up in our face need to STOP. If they don't someone needs to be shown the door. Austin, Ogletree, Goff, Gurley, Cooks. Some of those made sense. Others less so. Some were spoiled by poor luck with injuries. But it can't go on like this without consequence.

Here's the thing. It can't be both "the right time to cut bait with his best years behind him" AND poor cap management because we're dealing a useful player. It either is or it isn't. He either is or he isn't. Loved Brockers but when Donald and Ramsey and Woods and Kupp take restructures for the better of the team and Brockers doesn't, it is time to cut bait.

As far as this "bad cap management and huge contracts blowing up in our face", people have been saying that since the offseason following the 2017 season, when we dealt Ogletree after signing him to a 42 mil extension in October. Or trading that failure Tavon Austin. Or cutting Gurley after 2019. Or trading Cooks last off season. "It's gonna come back to bite us in the ass.....eventually". Well that hasn't happened as of yet. Not in 2018 or 2019 or 2020.

So nows it's going to be 2021 or 2022 or 2023. Or maybe, more likely, never.

We seemingly upgraded the QB position. We resigned our most important UFA (according to many people). And there's more cap room coming. So we'll see how they mismanage us into a 12-4 Superbowl contending team and rinse, repeat.

Vets never seem to have much trade value.
A 7th rounder is the same as nothing basically.
Brockers was never “elite” but he could never be unseated on the DL either.
The DL group is deep but in no way did this trade improve the team.

I have always liked Brockers but let's be real, playing next to Donald made him a better player. This is why the Rams are contending these days because they don't hold on to player for sentimental reasons. As much as it sucks if you want to win championships you have to learn when to cut bait.

Pure Salary Dump.

Usually more cap relief with a trade, as opposed to releasing a player.

Solid / consistent player, and a veteran-leader.

Much appreciated Ram; and I will miss him.

Still miss Rodger Saffold and expect to miss John Johnson a lot.

Also thought I would miss Littleton but after watching him do nothing in every Raiders’ game that I watched ... not so much.

I've been concerned about this approach for a while now and you're right @PARAM it hasn't bitten them yet. In fact this should be the best team we've had under McVay I will be surprised if that's not the case.

But there's still a roster to construct here. I'm ready and willing to crown these guys and root my ass off I just want to see some of these key areas addressed first before I get ahead of myself.

Man do I hate this move. One of my favorite players.

I also agree with this move. Just got to move when the timing is right.

You gotta think the market wasn't giving any more than a 2023 7th round pick for Brock.

Other teams didn't want to deal for the man.

Yea we were obviously going to cut him if we couldn't get something back. But a 7th round pick 3 drafts away is pretty much nothing. I hope we use the money we saved wisely.

Undoubtedly. But Donald is not good enough to do it all himself. We still need to stack this front with players if we want to bitchslap the 9ers of the league.

Really what sucks about this move is we're not gonna get a comp pick for him. But maybe we wouldn't have anyway and you can't always line that stuff up I suppose.

Look at the bright side, at least we didn't have to give them a draft pick to take his salary off our hands like we did with Goff. This move helps us now as we are trying to win now.

Essentially releasing him. According to overthecap.com it saves the Rams $4.67M. Let's hope they use that money on a center.

What a terrible trade. Beginning to think Holmes may have been the talent and the Hair has been taking the credit.

Just a salary dump plain and simple. If we couldn't get something back he would've been cut and people would be upset either way. All that matters now is who we sign next with the available money after Stafford's restructure.
