Is it a Done Deal that Blythe is signing (Or, Has he already signed?) with the Vikings?

The guy who made the tackle was Brian Lima, who earned the nickname “The Chiropractor” because of the shots he provided.

I didn’t think Corbett was particularly strong in Pass pro last year. Maybe it was because the guy next to him wasn’t too good at it either. If Anchrum is the real deal and moved to center I’d rather see Meinerz groomed to take over for Corbett. I don’t know how many years Corbett has left until free agency but it seems the Rams aren’t keen on paying their inside guys so they will have to have replacements ready.

The way Olinemen are paid in free agency Corbett could get them a third round comp pick eventually. Ditto Edwards in time.
Just think of the competition, damn it would be nice. Take Corbs, Anchrum, etc and add Meinerz to that mix. Tell them two jobs are open and let them go at it.

Food for thought.

There are only 32 starting center positions in the NFL But, there ARE NOT 32 top notch starting centers in the league.

If the position switch for these Olinemen is as easy as some appear to make it out to be, shouldn't every team have 1 or 2 given the number of Olinemen drafted or brought in as undrafted free agents each year?

I don't think anyone is calling these transitions easy, but McVay does emphasize cross-training, perhaps more than a lot of other Head Coaches. Even Meinerz, who is being heralded as a potential leading Center candidate will require cross-training.

I think it was Kromer who was the big fan of cross-training and I'll be really curious to see if they stop doing it so much with Carberry or continue on with it.

We know the savviness of McSnead and their obsession with detail so I think we can say that the rams have a contingency plan for blyth being signed by another team. If he really was a key priority, they wouldn't have let him stay on the market.

The rams have understood that blyth moving out of LA is a decent probability and they have been working on multiple options to make sure the biggest gamble of their careers (stafford) doesn't fail. If they don't feel strongly that his successor is already in the building, I don't see them fucking around with a camp battle between hopefuls. They will look to either make damn sure they get their Center in the draft even it means moving up from #57, or if their guy, or guys, are gone, then maybe they will trade that pick and a player to get a proven vet.

Unfortunately, we don't how many rookie centers they would actually feel confident in starting, but if they are gone by 57 I would be on the phones trading that pick plus a replaceable player to finally get us a proven long term center.

The fact that they passed on lindsey and hudson, 2 obvious upgrades, is concerning, at least for me because they don't include me on their zooms regarding the situation, and because I'm guessing that means they are comfortable going forward with either blyth, an unproven current player, or a rookie...not saying any of those can't work out, but I'd rather go with the proven elite player at the position.

Cole played at Michigan. The Cardinals drafted Cole. I believe the Cardinals signed Shelton to their practice squad after being released by the 49ers as a UDFA, and the Rams signed him in 2019.
Coleman Shelton played for UW ??
He went to Loyola HS.
David Long played for Michigan & went to Loyola HS.
Fisher son played at Auburn.
Les Snead played at Auburn
Fisher played at SC
Les Snead’s son didn’t play? He did go to Loyola HS.
Rudy Mucha played at UW.
Jake Eldrenkamp went to UW

—my bad Aaron Neary went to Eastern Washington.

Maybe I misunderstood... I thought you said the last 3 OC from UW, which I presumed you were talking about Mason Cole as one of the 3 that the original poster mentioned with Shelton.
If you didn't imply that, then my apologies
