What's his 40? He looks good and if he runs a 4.5 or faster, I would be good with this pick.

What round do you think he will go?
Well going off previous years where good SS types go mid 2nd round I'd say he's a late first round or early second type. Depends of course on his 40 time too since he's a DB.

By the way not saying he's a SS. He can do it all.

If you're worried about his 40 time you won't like it. I've seen 4.55-460

Having read about him he's much better in zone coverage than in man coverage. Most common comparison I see for him is Malik Hooker who generally plays more in the FS role IIRC.

I would agree FS is more his role and he's got good hands as well. I want to see this secondary loaded up with at least one corner and safety. If we could get him round two that would be most excellent but I suspect he's a guy who would have to come after a trade down.

That's not a bad 40 time for a safety. Of course if he runs a 4.4 he's off the board by 19. But you're not gonna get a 4.4 safety with size and ball skills in round 2.

Oh well, my preference is a free safety who can run 4.5 or faster.

But he still looks good out there. Maybe he makes up for the time with reaction speed.

Fortunately the Rams care more about on field speed and short area quickness. Otherwise we wouldn't have Puka if they worried about how fast they run in their underwear. Puka ran about the same as this guy will at 4.57 and at one time had the 6th highest mph hit on the field of play in the NFL. This kid can play too, I'm not sure we go safety that high but he's one of two that are well worth an early pick and absolutely make our defense better for it.

As a Mizzou fan, it's baffling how teams are considering Ennis Rakestraw Jr. ahead of Kris Abrams-Draine. Rakestraw's immensely talented for sure, definitely one of the few Day 2/3 corners I'd draft, but he's not a ballhawk like KAD is, he had an ACL injury that cost him a year, and he played injured this year and effectively got replaced by Dreyden Norwood.

KAD had no injury issues and is a ball hawking shutdown corner - and yet there are scouts that say he's going to fall to the fourth round because of his size, while Rakestraw, who is all of one inch taller and ten pounds heavier goes in the high second. I have to call bullshit on it - and I love both Mizzou corners.

Would Jared Verse be a good fit in the Rams defense? I really like what I’ve seen of him when I watch him play. Really explosive to the QB, good swim/active hands to knock down Tackles arms, solid bull rush. Really doubt he is there at 19.

Feel like this would be a great draft.

Jer’Zhan Newton is my choice if we stay at 19. Personally hope we move down two or three times, pick up a couple of seconds and thirds. We have a lot of holes to fix. None of the quarterbacks really interest me enough to take in the first or second round; personally hoping we re-sign Wentz.
Then you'd probably like this one.

Guyton honestly scares me. Maybe it's PTSD after the last Oklahoma Sooner tackle we took. Also highly doubt that Newton falls to #29, but I'd love us to draft him if he is.

Honestly, it would depend on what scheme we are running next year now that we will have a new DC. I don't want to see Verse out there trying to cover guys like Hoecht attempted to do. Verse is a great hand in the dirt end in my opinion.

Two worst picks were the kicker and one of my draft crushes Mustapha :)

Wow! If I’m reading this correctly, you gave the bills a good fleecing for them to move up just 3 spots. They just don’t get it. They need to be stockpiling young contracts right now as they lose expensive players if they want their window to be legit while they have a franchise QB.
See the 2023 Rams.

You went hard at the IOL and after adding a Tackle late, I’m guessing the plan would be to jettison Noteboom and Allen. Would you still keep Shelton for a veteran presence?
I would, because that’s a young OL—but with a LOT of potential, no doubt.

I like the middle of your draft. After Van Pratt (still in top 100), you got a lotta depth/value from Jacobs (128) to Rosengarten (176). I could see those guys on the roster.

Nice work.

Yeah these sims sometimes just go stupid with the trades, wasn't a forced trade or anything like that. So while not realistic you would think it was fun :)

Allen is definitely gone in this and likely Boom as well. Waiting on the Edge I'm thinking we add a second tier FA and have him rotate with Elliss. Resign Wentz as well. Letting Spoon go in this as we all know by now I think that I'm not a fan.

When it comes to Witherspoon, it’s not like I’m down on the guy because he’s a legit NFL player; but, if he’s your BEST CB, you need to improve as a unit.
