Wiggins too I'm guessing.
They had him a bit before, around midround. Also interesting was Powers-Johnson going in the 20s.

Also had Mitchell going 22. I mean corner of course is probably the most workout dependent group but they think Mitchell is going to run 4.3 range.

I'd really like to see the Rams rankings on OTs.

Wiggins is my guy though I'm a 100% biased Clemson fan :D

This one was unrealistic but I like the result.

The Athletic has an interesting mock up. Way too early of course to read into it when so many positions are dependent on workouts for that top slotting, but those bastards have us taking @den-the-coach's boy JJ McCarthy. :hot:

Snippet of Rams picks:

19. Los Angeles Rams: J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

Going into Aaron Rodgers’ age-36 season, the Packers made a forward-thinking pick and drafted their quarterback of the future (Jordan Love) in the back half of Round 1. Going into Matthew Stafford’s age-36 season, the Rams might be in a position to follow the same approach. Who knows when Stafford will hang ’em up, but with his injury past, the Rams at least need to consider it.

There is a wide range of opinions on McCarthy’s projection and draft value. Michigan didn’t ask him to consistently push the ball downfield, but he was outstanding on money downs and will have the word “winner” bolded and highlighted in his scouting report (27-1 career record with a national title). Though I think he’ll have mostly second-round grades, McCarthy’s tools and intangibles could get him into the top 25.

52. Los Angeles Rams: Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB, Missouri

One of the draft’s more physical corners, Rakestraw plays with the mentality and toughness to make plays against both pass and run. His injury feedback might directly impact where he is drafted, but the Rams could use a corner with his athleticism and compete skills.

That’s a hell of a first two rounds! :sunglasses:
Hate that pick of McCarthy. I'd take Penix every day of the week above him, and I might not even be ok with Penix here. McCarthy did not show that he is a franchise QB in college, as he wasn't asked too. He did what he was asked to do well, but, to me, I didn't see a special QB. Not to mention, we are trying to win the SB next season, taking a guy that hopefully wont see a snap next year with our first seems somewhat counter productive to the build.

Let someone else gamble on McCarthy.
We can always call Kase Keenum back when Stafford retires next year :laugh2::thumbsup1:
The flaw in that thinking is leaving Ramsey out of the equation. They spent 1sts on a CB. When you have Ramsey, and don't have 1st round and sometimes 2nd round pick drafting a CB in the 3rd is a high pick.
How is that a flaw? They purposely traded draft picks as stated “for a known commodity”.

Hence they decided not to draft a rookie CB.

They used draft capital on a QB, 1st round draft capital so they didn't need to use it on a CB in the draft. Yes they didn't pick a CB but they absolutely valued the position enough to not only use a draft pick(s) for a CB but they paid him very well.

So you’re confirming they didn’t value taking a CB high in any of those drafts and decided to trade picks for a CB and pay one?

Confirming my point

Rakestraw's a player but the injury side is a concern. JJ would probably sit on the depth chart 2 years (which actually I could get behind, as I respect the way Green Bay's done that) so no real return on that high pick initially, and then you're down to Rakestraw delivering that high draft pick impact. Feels a bit underwhelming to me.

But then again I am really fucking tired of bad defense. And I always say a QB's best friend is a top DEFENSE. Imagine a unit that gets the ball back to Stafford early and often.

Hell that even sounds better to me with JJ sitting on the bench for 2.5 years learning behind Stafford. For the most important position in football a continuation of high level play for another 10-20 years. Dudes a winner and he's going to do well depending where he goes and what system they ask him to run.

Rakestraw is interchangeable with many that will be available then at our pick.

I'm prepared to run and hide for saying this, but I think Dejean is strictly a safety.
He'd make a hell of a safety. Honestly, he could bump down to a coverage LB in dime and nickle IMO too. He has size and is athletic.

I want that Minnesota safety. Trade down a bit, take a corner then Nubin in round 2 and this back end will be in business.

Believe I wouldn’t cry seeing us see up the back end. I was holding my breath everytime Jared was dropping back for pass.

If the plan is to sit a QB behind Staff, then Penix might be an option. His unorthodox motion looks like he is aiming the ball out there, which might need some work.

I agree with other posters and would wait until Round 2 and take a flier if he is still there.

Jer’Zhan Newton is my choice if we stay at 19. Personally hope we move down two or three times, pick up a couple of seconds and thirds. We have a lot of holes to fix. None of the quarterbacks really interest me enough to take in the first or second round; personally hoping we re-sign Wentz.

Re: Dejean I will just add that you don't take him at 19 as a safety. If you don't think he's good enough to step right in for you at corner, then you take him if he's still on the board a bit later.

But for me just as it pertains to safety I want size, ball skills, tackling, and athleticism.

What's his 40? He looks good and if he runs a 4.5 or faster, I would be good with this pick.

What round do you think he will go?
