With that figure they've been planning on, which can always be adjusted, and the 2021 remaining cap rolling over we're slated to have about $4.4 million in cap space. That's with people like Whitworth who's future is uncertain. Fortunately the dead money that plagued us this year is all gone. Matt Stafford can always be extended and his roster bonus of $10 million can be manipulated in the usual ways. There don't look like any guys that can be moved/waived for big savings but a lot of guys that can be moved for about am illion in savings. Should be an interesting off season again. Lots of draft picks just none high in the draft and limited cap space. They've expressed a desire to bring back Miller and OBJ but we have a decent list of free agents as well.

Yes but we also have a lot of people on their rookie contracts having salaries go up. We have guys like Ramsey, Donald, Stafford, Kupp and Woods all taking cap hit increases next year. Hell Floyd's increase alone is $15 million on the cap.

The question will be how much the Rams want to do.. because if they accelerate bonus money, they have to pay that cash right away, I believe. They can spread the hit out over years, but the money is due.

Whitworth simply won't have a choice about next year. There was a reason he said he was going to retire. He carries a cap hit of over $14M. The Rams can gain $13M in cap space by releasing him. That was clear when he signed the contract.

Robinson is now a part time player with a cap hit of $9.5M. They can clear $4M by releasing or trading him. He might have value as trade bait. He can still play, but Gaines is the clear starter at NT.

Havenstein will have a cap hit of $9.6M next year. They can gain around $5M in cap by trading or releasing him.

That is $22M they can gain just in those 3 players. That's enough to sign their key FAs next year.

Roster bonuses are one of hte most common manipulations and those are converted to signing bonuses and prorated over a few years. Some base pay can be turned into a bonus to do the same thing.

Um.. Whitworth could always renegotiate. And.. with the way he's playing, why would they say no?

I'm not sure the answer on Robinson.. but you don't let him AND SJD go in the same season. Gaines certainly replaces SJD.. but not both and I wouldn't count on BB3 for that kind of role just yet.

Havenstein would be a great value at his current price and you'd be cutting your nose of with that move.

You sign a much cheaper option than Robinson. He is not worth $7-8M.

As for Whitworth, if he stays Noteboom leaves and as much as I admire Whit, I would rather have Noteboom for the next 4-5 yrs vs Whit for one and then scrambling for a replacement. Especially considering we don't gave high picks to find a long-term replacement that could play soon.

And consider also you can't let your 33 plus yr old QB to get hit a lot over the next few yrs. Plus, whose to say Noteboom can't become a fixture at LT for the next 10 yrs?

And releasing Whit does save you $13M that will help you sign OBJ or Miller, or a number of young players like Allen, Noteboom, or Corbett.
