Is Austin Blythe available?

If he's still under contract with KC, they should trade a 1st and a 2nd next year for him.

;)
Blythe signed a one year deal with the Hawks this off season!

Lance is not a good QB at this early stage of his career.

Too volatile in his play

On the contrary. I believe Lance is ready to go and has refined all of his skills sitting behind Jimmy Grabmypole.

He should be named the starter and Garapollo traded to the NY Jets for a 6th round pick.

:)

Yeah the thinking is he'll retire his bonuses due was changed to a $500k roster bonus he'll get paid then leave. Which I believe leaves them with a 2016 udfa backup and a 2022 udfa to compete for the center position.
Nifty
They definitely need to look at bringing someone in but not sure what's available at the center position
They likely have someone waiting as a backup. One thing Shanahan seems to do is stay well stocked in linemen. He knows exactly what he's looking for in that regard, and while I wouldn't expect Alex Mack level play, I don't expect a complete disaster.
I really want to do a T-Shirt one day saying Same Ole Sorry Ass 49ers
No, that just validates the SOSAR bs. Better to act like its ancient history.
I'm seeing a Niner fan who's trustworthy and smart saying their RG Brunskill will likely kick in to center but that makes their guards a major question mark both of them.
Brunskill is underrated imo. He's had some goid games against AD. Moving him to center creates two vacant guard spots. It will be interesting to see if they have any better depth than the Rams. Shelton was a decent fill in. The others I'm not so comfortable with.
Yeah Niner fans are not happy about the interior of the OL because even that guy moving from RG to Center in their minds isn't stellar. Two good tackles and question marks in between.
I'll repeat, Brunskill is underrated imo.

49ers’ John Lynch Confirms Deebo Samuel’s Short-Term Future With Team

The largest question looming over the 49ers right now remains that of Deebo Samuel‘s future with the team. In the aftermath of a trade request which did not lead to him being moved, general manager John Lynch spoke recently about his intentions of keeping the wideout.

When directly asked about Samuel’s future, Lynch said, “We haven’t traded him, and I’d be a fool to trade him, so yes, Deebo will be part of the 49ers this season” (Twitter link via ESPN’s Adam Schefter). The team’s front office has maintained their intention of keeping Samuel, but that statement is the most definitive to date with respect to quashing trade talk.

Samuel, 26, formally requested a trade one week before the draft in April. Not surprisingly, several teams showed interest in acquiring him, including the Jets; it was reported that they offered the No. 10 pick for the All-Pro receiver, but there was no point at which San Francisco came close to moving him.

Samuel has only one season remaining on his rookie contract, meaning that Lynch’s remarks could still refer strictly to the immediate future. He made it clear earlier in the offseason that the team had budgeted for sizeable extensions with both Samuel and Nick Bosa. However, there is a notable gap in the reported value of San Francisco’s initial offer and the terms Samuel is believed to be seeking on his second contract.

The South Carolina alum is currently absent from the team’s OTAs, something which has been expected since mid-April. In the absence of a new deal, Samuel will earn just under $4MM, while carrying a cap hit of $4.9MM. His level of play, especially this past season, has led many to believe he will be one of the next beneficiaries of the substantial upward trend in the receiver market around the league. While there is still plenty of time for a deal to be worked out, there is further evidence that Samuel will remain in the Bay Area for at least one more year.

And yet some fans are hesitant with him. Just like what happens with a lot of our players and picks. Not everybody is sold on him at center which isn't the position he had good games against us at.

The Niners interior-OL could be completely different, and inexperienced, in 2022.

Figure Aaron Banks (2nd round pick last year) replaces Tomlinson at LG. Should RG Brunskill (good name for an OL) moved to C then the new RG could be Jaylon Moore (5th round pick last year) or Spencer Burford (4th rounder this year). I think those two played mostly tackle in college.

Regardless of the group ... I am sure we all wish them well.

I would but you might wet your knickers trying to bullshit your way out of what you wrote :laugh2:

Explain to me again what you meant by subhuman?

Note you dragged yourself into an argument through being fragile. I didn’t tag you in the post and will almost certainly let you write the last word as I’m getting bored

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- After an offseason of will he or won't he, San Francisco 49ers center Alex Mack has made a decision about his football future.

He won't. After 13 NFL seasons, Mack announced his retirement via Twitter and in conjunction with the 49ers on Friday morning, bringing an end to a career that included seven Pro Bowl selections, three second-team All-Pro nods and a spot on the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade team for the 2010s.

"After 13 seasons and 204 games for 3 teams, I have decided to hang up my cleats," Mack wrote on Twitter. "I am so grateful to the game of football and everything it has given me. From the very start it helped shape who I am and taught me life lessons. I started to play football because it was fun and that never changed...

"I always tried to hold up my end of the bargain and never let anyone doubt my effort."

Mack, 36, earned his final Pro Bowl appearance last season, his only year spent in San Francisco. He signed with the 49ers as a free agent in March of 2021 in a move that not only reunited him for the third time with coach Kyle Shanahan -- the pair also worked together in Atlanta and Cleveland -- but was something of a full-circle moment for Mack, who played at the University of California in nearby Berkeley.

At the time, Mack signed a three-year deal but made it clear that he was playing on a year-to-year basis and would evaluate whether to continue at the end of each offseason. Mack remained committed to that this offseason, leaving many wondering what he was going to do all offseason.

At the NFL owners meetings in late March, Niners general manager John Lynch expressed optimism that Mack was going to return, saying that "all signs are him coming back and being a part of us."

Lynch's tone changed dramatically just before the draft about a month later when he said that he would let Mack make his own announcement when he was ready.

On Thursday, Mack and the Niners agreed to a reworked contract that dropped his base salary for 2022 from $5 million to $1.12 million and from $3.35 million to $1.165 million in 2023. The move saved the 49ers more than $4 million in cap space this season, money they quickly used to sign their nine-player draft class.

On Friday, Mack made his retirement official and the 49ers released a statement thanking Mack for his contributions.

"The center position in the NFL is the heartbeat of an offense and Alex's intellect, consistency, love for the game and professional approach made a lasting impression over the course of his 13 NFL seasons," Lynch and Shanahan said in a statement. "Congratulations to Alex on a highly decorated NFL career and we wish him nothing but success in his post-playing career."

Mack was originally the 21st overall pick by Cleveland in the 2009 NFL draft. He earned three Pro Bowl nods and was a second-team All-Pro once in seven seasons with the Browns before landing three Pro Bowl berths and two second-team All-Pro spots in five years with the Falcons.

The 49ers now find themselves searching for a replacement at a position Shanahan values greatly in his offense.

Internal veteran options include Jake Brendel, who has been working with the starters during the offseason program, and Daniel Brunskill, who started at right guard last season but played some center in 2020.

San Francisco also has a trio of rookies -- Nick Zakelj, Dohnovan West and Jason Poe -- who could factor into the mix, though Shanahan has traditionally been reluctant to play someone inexperienced at center.

Outside of the building, veteran JC Tretter is the best center on the free-agent market, though he comes with questions about a knee issue that prevented him from practicing much of last season.

Yeah Shanny can only do so much. 9ers still have a good roster, but that OL was a big part of their offense doing their thing. They should see a dip on the interior in '22, much like we'll have a slight dip at LT. Players matter.

Deebo has killed his own value tbh. His game is physicality from the backfield or underneath as a passing game extension. Threatening teams in the soft underbelly. But him saying he doesn't want to be used that way means he's going to be less a weapon. I'd be more afraid of Odell on nines or posts or even deep outs than Deebo. He's not special in just in that classic wideout usage, he's special because of the way Shanny has put him in ideal situations to favor his game.
