River's WK 9 2017 Mock ...

Not sure that I like 3 of our 4 free agents being such huge injury risks and Joeckel just isn't good. Also it's becoming more and more apparent that we need to put somebody new in the DE rotation. Quinn is becoming a huge injury problem and you cut/walk Sims.

Again, Joeckel isn't a good LT, but his work as an OG can't be graded due to lack of attempts. Much the same can be said of GRob. My mock isn't really about anything other than what I see as practicality over cost and necessity, ... at least imo. Consider also I have a 3'rd round OG in my mock, not counting depth already on the roster which hopefully improves somewhat, but Joeckel shouldn't be underestimated based against cost, even if released during camp. Re-signing Tru Johnson, Britt & TJ will come at a price, and Ogletree's contract is up after next year, so CAP allowances should be made for him also. Signing Alshon Jeffery will also be costly, although game changing imo. Saffold & Sims are CAP cuts which make up a small portion of the difference, even if we are in a pretty solid CAP position entering 2017. I'd also consider Barnes as a potential CAP cut if more room needs to be made and Wichmann shows the potential to back-up at Center. Our draft minus a 1'st rounder is painful enough, but it will lower our normal draft CAP increase in a big way. Joeckel & Jordan are low cost additions, even Kalil should be in that lower-cost category based on injury & effectiveness, and yes, they all have boom or bust written all over them, but I believe the potential gains are difficult to resist and they should be very CAP friendly. Not much of a gamble for me, our OL sucks, so i'm looking to at least get from bad to average with as many needs we have and how poor our draft is at the top. Since it doesn't count against CAP, i'd rather us spend money to improve OL coaching.
I'd love to use a #1 draft pick on a DE, but we'll need to wait until 2018 for that kind of move, Quinn & Hayes are getting scary going forward, i'm not sure we have won a game this season where Quinn was out of the line-up, and Hayes could easily become a CAP casualty in 2018, he's just no longer starting material. jmo.

Goff Has the Opportunity to Impress His Future Coach

niNICK SABAN at Alabama may be a good choice also. He is a winner. During Pete Carrolls first employ in the NFL he did poorly with New England. Maybe Saban would also do great in the NFL the second time. To bad jimmy Johnson is to old and wealthy! LA is a market that can get anyone interested!!
IDK if Saben would leave. Why leave when you are already one of the best college head coaches ever and could win 10 more championships and surpass Bryant status? Maybe he wants a Lombardi trophy to. I'd be down for him easy. He holds players accountable, And knows how to win. I'd take him in a heart beat if he wanted. Seems to have a Bellicheat mentality to the game.

Demoff on Fisher

He could. But Jeff Fisher is actually such a bad coach (in my opinion) that I really really really think the odds that the next coach is better, or even much better, is pretty good odds. It's actually difficult to hire a head coach (if you actually do a little research and think on it) that would get you a worse Win-Loss record with the current talent we have, than Fisher has.
Fisher isn't Linehan or Spags bad (and in Spags defense had he not had so many injuries in 2011 and the lockout against him he could have had us at 6-10/7-9 that year making him on par with Fisher). Fisher isn't a top tier coach, but he has improved the team. Fans know the team is capable of doing worse. They endured a 15-65 stretch of football.

All that being said I totally agree with you. Even if the odds of getting a better coach than Fisher aren't as good as you suggest, I would take the chance on finding out. Fisher has had 5 years. That's ample time.

David Shaw Visited Rams Today

The only time I ever attacked @badnews was when he once said that Keith Moon was the greatest drummer ever.
Of course everyone knows that title belongs to Neil Peart
Lol
It's all good, we're all Rams fans, we all want the best for the team. I didn't think I attacked on the topic but will be mindful not to do so

HA!!! We all know I'm the greatest drummer!!! (as long as a dead horse is the drum....) :deadhorse::LOL::LOL::LOL:
:grouphug:

Rams’ O-line Problems Persist

This is what happens when you draft purely on potential.

Robinson over Mathews
Pead over Anyone, he was terrible
Quick over Jeffery's
Austin over Hopkins

All high picks on the Offensive side of the ball that have been absolute bust. Just another fact that shows you Fisher/snead doesn't know offensive talent.
I really don't know how anyone can argue that these two shouldn't be fired by this alone.
Overconfidence in their coaching abilities did them in. They passed on good talent for raw ability they thought they could make into better talent. With the defensive talent on the roster all they need is a league average offense. Going with the more polished good talent was the way to go.

The Fisher extension

What good coordinator wants to step into this dumpster fire? Nobody with a lick of sense wants to take a job with a head coach on the hot seat.

If Fisher replaces a lot of his offensive coaching staff, at bare minimum Boras, I'll be ok with it. There can be no debating that the play calling has been atrocious this season most of the time. Boras has called a few good halfs such as the first half of the Detroit game. But in large it's usually bland as can be and highly, no, ungodly predictable.

New play caller with some innovation is the only way I accept Fisher being here another year. But I've been saying that at the end of every season he's been here so I'm not holding my breath.

Wang: Rams Notes: Rob Gronkowski's injury leaves Rams wondering about Patriots offense

Without Gronkowski, New England coach Bill Belichick and his staff could also decide to lean more heavily on their trio of running backs: LeGarrette Blount leads the league with 12 touchdown runs, while James White and Dion Lewis have combined for 594 yards from scrimmage.
THIS^ would only make sense, considering the Rams are ranked 7th against the Pass and 20th against the Run!
IF the Rams are close, say 24-17 or 24-20 at the Half, we have a shot. Gronk is out, Brady is playing on a Bum Knee, and won't be as mobile ( Not that he ever is) and I think we are better against the run than our Ranking! Against the Pass too for that matter!
Last weeks game skewed the Stats, look more at where we where Defensively the Two weeks previously!
It's time for the Rams to " Spring the Old Trap game on the Cheatriots!!"

Jeff Fisher Is Ready To Face Patriots Running Backs "Brandon" And "Danny"

I hear ya, but seriously though, I truly believe it's because THAT is the answer. THAT is what will kick start the Rams into a new era of winning football. They (me) don't want to see him fired because we want to see a man fail. We want him fired so that he can't hold the Rams back any longer. It's been way to long and it's way ridiculous. Needs to end. That's why true Rams fans are "running with any story" because it actually will help get Fisher fired from the HC position in Los Angeles.

I hear ya, but I don't think the folks who indulge in over-reacting and being unreasonably critical are doing anything to change the situation.
Kroenke hasn't given a damn about the fans opinions before, I'm not convinced that extra vitriol at ROD does any good but stoke the flames of anger between ourselves.
If things don't go their way... heads will explode.

I remember how many fans were happy to see Mike Martz get fired.
It was similar to the current situation.
People who wanted him fired were telling everyone how he was the cause of our problems and once he was gone we would get better.
That was 2005.
Nothing has gotten better. Linehan, Spagnuolo, even Haslett.... none of them had the answers.
In fact they were so bad that they ushered in the worst decade of pro football in history.

That's why I am not as convinced as you are that firing Fisher is automatically going to result in forward progress.

I also think firing a coaching staff every few years is how you become the Browns.

All that said, if Fisher is replaced, I'll be optimistic.
If Fisher is our HC next year, but replaces Boras, Beaudreau and others and hires an established OC and gives over all the offensive control, I'll be optimistic.
If Fisher comes back and tries to pass off this same offense.... I'll be extremely disheartened....

....If I was to jump on board the Fisher hate train and start shoveling coal with some of the others around here, I'd be putting myself in a position that would make it nearly impossible to enjoy next year and the possibility of a good season.
I try to avoid situations that will force me into hypocrisy. I hate eating crow haha.

GDT: Cowboys@Bradfords

It's not a lucky break. A lucky break is a DB having an interception bounce off his hands into the WR's hands for a TD. That would have been a bad and illegal play by the defender.

The hit that caused the errant throw was an illegal hit. There's no disputing it. The Cowboys got the lucky break that they weren't called for it.
I guess I wasn't paying close attention last night because watching again today I see how wrong I was.
