Well it'll be an upset if its not Patriots/Raiders vs Cowboys in the Super Bowl.

What would be awesome, just from historical perspective, is if it's Raiders vs Pats in the AFC champ and Lions vs Cowboys in the NFC champ and the Raiders and Lions both won. Raiders get revenge for the tuck rule bullshit that started the whole Patriots run plus was a partial factor in ruining the Rams franchise for the next 15 years if you think about it. And the Lions never could beat the Cowboys in their Barry Sanders days. Would be a nice Super Bowl I think just because I hate the Cowboys and Pats.

A few observations from the lower bowl yesterday:

It all comes down to this.

The Ram O is fundamentally unsound. Simply put, they fail to execute their assignments far too often. And I mean virtually all of the players.

I think it comes down to lack of identity 43. Fish has been quoted on saying so many times that they're a power run offense, but they never are. He'll say things like "that's who we are" in relation to the run game, but they never really have been that team who can do even that one thing well on offense. Last year was the closest thing to it with Gurley making things happen, but we see this year it's back to the same old deal.

We don't have an offensive identity.

Now we have Goff taking over, which is great, it's about time and these games and snaps are critical to him growing into the QB we expect him to become. But even with him in the backfield what is our identity? The Rams staff is all over the map. They'd probably tell you they're a run team but they can't run it. And their run/pass ratio over Fisher's five years isn't exactly indicative of the fact they're a run team either. It's madness.

Only hope for Fish is to bring in a strong OC who can put those things in place. I pray Fish realizes that.

Do the players and coaches pay attention ?

Not sure what you're disagreeing with me about, you basically confirmed with your article everything I said. My post was disagreeing with the notion that players have less than a full time job.

Point is they have a ton of downtime in between meetings and they aren't always included in those meetings IE coaches meetings, different walk thru's with different disciplines etc.
They basically work from 6am to 4pm. With breaks throughout the day. Pretty normal workday, only difference is they play a game on Sunday.

Conclusion if they're on social media they're reading about themselves or their team.

LeGarrette Blount: Rams 'bail' in 1-on-1 tackling

NE has a bad oline? Could have fooled me but ok whatever you say.
Mediocre, not bad. A lot of the lack of hits/sacks on Brady is from scheming - they're very good at taking away any one individual performer, and they're very good at getting the ball out fast. Much of the rest of it is Brady himself - it's hard to overstate how spending 17 years in the same offensive system lets you know what's going to happen before a play is run, meaning you shave precious seconds off the time you're holding the ball in the pocket.

Rams left OG post with 4 regular games left

Brown was terrible in 2015.
Beaten like a drum in every phase.
He seemed to improve at least run blocking during the preseason but his pass blocking was a total liability. It made sense to start Saffold over him. Now, Saffold played poorly which was disappointing. Brown did play better last week and in other spots this year.
Best case is he develops along with Grob....not giving up hope with that. Havenstein, despite his zero sacks last year, had trouble with speed rushers. This year those rushers are getting home. If those three can develop into good starters the Rams O line are almost there.

Rams special teams

If a team wanted to trade you a second or a package of mid-rounders, would you trade him? My thought is Hekker is like having the best closer in baseball, but your team loses 90 games a year. Why not trade him while you can get value in return?

I can't imagine any team values a punter to the point of giving up that kind of draft compensation. Jacksonville did spend a third on one a few years back, but they wound up looking pretty silly.

For Hek, I think you get a late round pick.

I only trade him if I think the team doesn't need him anymore.

My Mock response to Jrry's second mock...

Originally I felt moving Joyner to FS would test his durability, however, he's on the field quite a bit now and I have always thought that was his best position. David Shaw has been my guy for the last couple of years because he a heck of a football coach and the Rams have gone with an Offensive Coordinator (Scott Linehan), Defensive Coordinator (Steve Spagnuolo) and a former Head Coach in Jeff Fisher, so the only option left is a College Head Football Coach and are 50/50 in this area with John Robinson, who did an excellent job IMO and Rich Brooks not so much, unless you factor in Sid Gillman who came to the Rams from the University of Cincinnati from 1955-1959.

Peter King: MMQB - 12/5/16

The more I hear about ED the more I'm sure that he just wants his 5 minutes back in the the spotlight. He's making a mountain out of a mole hill. While I agree things could have been handled better, I don't think either side is to blame. Basically I can see the issue from both sides. Fisher doesn't want distractions and ED is just telling the truth.

Second, I hope Fishers extension was signed at the beginning of the season and was contingent on him at least getting to 7 wins in order to keep his job. I know everything we hear from here until the seasons end will be pure speculation so I guess we just have to wait and see.

I feel Gurley's frustration. He's holding himself accountable, which I'm sure all the players are doing. Somewhere between the practices, film sessions, game planning and actual game day execution there is a huge disconnect. How you fix it is the $69K question. I don't see it happening in the next four games. I can't believe another season is done in a month for my Rams. What looked to be promising after a 3-1 start just makes me shake my head in bewilderment.

Meanwhile in Other NFL News

My wife's family is from Reno. Many of them are whiner fans and WERE big Kaep fans. Now they can't wait to see him go ANYWHERE else. The not standing for the anthem was kind of a last straw for them but they followed him his entire career and are just fed up with his me first, crappy attitude.
Sort of sad actually.
The opposite of how he was as a guy in college. Someone got to his head. Or maybe he just couldn't handle the fame....it happens.
