Sean McVay discussion thread

Actually, it was last night (page 13 of this thread) when you posted the following:
'I love McVay, but I think that Andy Reid has him beat overall.'

As I have now stated three times, I believe that was this thread's first mention of Reid in comparison to McVay.

Unless I missed something, YOU started the discussion of the topic comparing the two head coaches.
So we’re is Bill Belacheat in any takes as the best ever ? Was that all the Brady effect ? Tomlinson has an excellent win lose record.Wish he beat Dallas Monday.

Thought Mcvay was going to be better.I drink the KOOL-AIDE & think The Rams might win The Super Bowl while watching the Detroit Game. They sure had the momentum.I’m not going to blame Mcvay for all the Rams did last season. There was a lot of luck as well.
—This season I blame Mcvay & that has NEVER been mo. I’ve believed & believe in him.Luck ran out and reality has set in. What happens happens.I’ll enjoy the season & development of certain Rams.

Jimmy Rollins on Wild Card Scheduling/Layoffs

Not a bad idea. One thing I noticed was the top seed doesn't always play the lowest remaining seed the way they have it set up. The Padres had the best record of the wild card teams. The Dodgers were top seed. The lowest remaining seed for the NLDS was the Mets.

I guess the way they had it set up was the winner of the Padres/Braves plays the Dodgers. While the winner of the Mets/Brewers plays the Phillies. Other sports leagues usually have the top seed playing the lowest seed.

I guess I'm bitching because the Padres were the one team I didn't want the Dodgers to face. They seemed to have their number this year. They easily won the season series even after the Dodgers took 2 of 3 in their last series.
Yeah, they don't re-seed after each round. They should IMO. Might have something to do with logistics (hotels, etc.).

AFter the Wild Card round it would have been:
Detroit vs NY
Kansas City vs Cleveland
Mets vs Dodgers
Padres vs Philly

I can't say I'm upset with it. :sunglasses:

In the path of Helene

Geez, after the horrific devastation Helene left behind now there's another tropical storm in the Gulf that is expected to hit Florida. And its also likely to be upgraded to a category 2 hurricane. Possibly even category 3. Those areas just can't catch a break. Meanwhile, here in central cali we're experienced record temps. 106 yesterday. In October. WTF?
Saw big fire in the Tetons on the news. Whole damn world has stuff going on.

Coaching Hotseat & Coaches to Watch

I mostly agree. If the offense can get in gear the close losses to CHI/GB would be wins. On defense once the Rams secondary settles in that should improve. That leaves ILB. If they have any thoughts of making a run they have to address the “elephant in the defensive unit room”. Watching Reeder - he struggles but occasionally makes a play. Watching Rozeboom - he just plain lost. Together it’s a dumpster fire. I’d prefer both get replaced but let’s start with Rozeboom.
I saw Rozeboom fall flat on his face too many times against GB for him to even remain on the team.

He was like a cow without legs grazing on the grass.

Gameday Menu Thread

I haven't eaten basically anything in 2 days because I'm fucking sick... and surprisingly, it has nothing to do with our beloved Rams.

That full cheat code "video assist" bullshit they assaulted us with did make me even sicker though. Straight robbery in front of the entire world and crickets.

So after typing that out... I guess my menu and meal was the fucking shit the NFL forced down our throats in broad daylight.

Tre'Davious White last in NFL

I should have turned the game off after that. Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment.

But yeah I was yelling "WTF 4!?" and wondering who he was until I realized it was Spoon. That shit was three stooges material.
I did the same. My wife saw a side of me she never wants to see again after that play. And after the 3rd and 16 Love scramble in the 4h quarter.

GAME DAY The Early Games - Week 5

Glad to see this class off to a strong start. Good chance they end up being one of the best in many years too I'd say. Maye got the shit end of the stick with New England, but if he's got the right mentality he'll rise at some point. McCarthy might find his balls at some point. And Penix gets to sit and learn which is quite a good deal for a first round QB, I'd say Morris did a great job of adding him behind Cousins to see how a starting QB works at this level, and allow him to learn.

You would think the McVay/Stafford combo could....

I must admit, I find myself a bit jealous of teams who have QBs that can do something with their legs.

He doesn't do it often anymore, I but even saw Flacco with a long run today.
I find myself jealous of teams that aren't married to one offensive personnel grouping and can come out with some creative calls when needed. That St. Brown pass to Goff was a thing of beauty against the Seahawks.

Was McVay premature in bailing on Goff to trade for Stafford?

I don't think we win that Super Bowl with Goff instead of Stafford, so the trade was a success. Stafford was lights out. Non-stop come from behind wins and game winning drives. Goff likely could have done it too in some games but not in all of them.

I also don't think Goff develops under McVay the way he did under Campbell. McVay didn't trust him to read a defence. If that was right or wrong, up for debate, but it stunted his development in that part of game, he was never going to grow with Sean keeping the training wheels on.
