This is how I feel too. But, with the staff's failure to get Goff ready, and Fisher's lack of trust in rookies, I doubt it happens without an injury to Case. If they ever want to get Gurley going they will need more of a threat at QB and WR imo.

I think that if they want to get Gurley going, they need to run some of the plays that they ran last year more. That wrap play where the TE motions and takes out a DLineman worked a good percentage of the time. Same thing with those runs where they fake it to Austin in motion. Best I can tell, they've run those plays maybe once or twice this season.

And continue to get Gurley more involved as a pass catcher. With his talent, it amazing to me that he entered the game with only 3 receptions.

Why is it "the staff's failure to get Goff ready"? In fact why is it anyone's fault? Why isn't it the simple fact that has come to light that the "spread offense" so many colleges are using hinders these QBs when making the move to the NFL???

Then again...how is it we forget so soon Fisher's BLUNDER with Foles? This is where I am with it...after Foles...it's now Goff.

My greatest hope for Goff is that he's not a repeat of Foles...WHEN HE'S READY!!!

Other QBs started as rookies coming from the spread. And who does Goff have coaching him? Weinke has what a year of coaching experience. Boras the Oline and TEs coach, Groh the receivers coach? If a veteran OF like Norv Turner was coaching Goff then I would be confident that it is all on Goff. Philly has Pedersen, and Reich both with years of playing and coaching both under their belt. Is it any surprise they could get Wentz prepared ahead of Goff?

Yeah, I blame the coaches, whether it is their philosophy, or lack of experience that Goff isn't ready. But, it seems to be Fisher's plan to sit Goff and so I don't clamor for him like I did in the first two games.

"While Fisher and his assistants would like to see Goff reduce the amount of interceptions he throws against the scout team, they're convinced that if thrown into the fray immediately, he has the physical skill, instincts and intelligence to thrive. That said, they recognize that he is only 21, and that many successful quarterbacks -- including Palmer, now 36 -- benefitted by observing and learning in the early part of their careers."

This quote from the Silver article might explain a few things, no? He is still making mistakes in practice. So he sits and learns, but still getting some reps as the #2 he needs. I think it won't be until after the bye, IMHO

I honestly don't understand why there's *any* angst over a good QB performance during a win.
But then again, people did the same to Bradford, so maybe there really are agendas.
Shame on me somebody asked a question and I answered and my post was moved to a thread where we've been labeled as bad guys. I won't answer somebody baiting a discussion on Goff/Keenum anymore even one that you do and yes you do them.

You mean, like when he scrambled to the opposing 10 yard line and it was called back?
Or the drops that would have put us deep in opposing territory?

Be honest. If Goff played and had the same exact stats, you'd be elated, wouldn't you.
Just surrender to it X.
People are looking at this thing emotionally and not logically.
Clearly....and I mean transparent it is so clear....the Rams won yesterday due in large part to Keenum. Like you said, if Goff put up the same stat line, he would be second coming.
If the Rams are 6-1 in a couple of weeks it won't matter.
As an aside, if Keenum was replaced next week and Goof struggled and couldn't get the ball out and threw picks....the chorus of fire the coaches would start.

I wasn't addressing you specifically. It was just an open question. But thank you for the indignation anyway.

I understand what you're saying X.

However, were still averaging 15.75 ppg. And Keenum left a lot of plays on the field. Tavon should have had a huge day. Yes, he dropped that long pass but that's always a 50-50 ball. IMO, Goff will give us more consistency at the position. We had multiple wide open receivers and he still missed a few guys.

There's no denying his grittiness and willingness to play the position. But I rather have a guy who can throw those fast balls over the middle and keep drives going with his arm.
I can agree with you on some of your points, But when it comes to keenum's Play,
Did you not see that Deep Ball to Tavon, that was right their but Dropped!?!
OR those two TD Passes to Quick!?! And as to his sustaining Drives, Look at that 27 Yard Run that was called back do to penalty!!

I'm excited to see Goff play. He has potential that Keenum doesn't have. However I'm happy with a win too.

On that last touchdown I said " good teams score here". Keenum got it done.

I trust the process, I'm just a little impatient

Bradford and his ACL has officially skull f'd Fisher

I've always been a fan of Keenum when he was our only option - i was getting into it with Jrry all last off-season stating how i felt Keenum was a gamer. But then we drafted Goff and that changed everything - we had a franchise QB. I had hoped to see Keenum and Goff and Mannion battle it out for the stsrting job in training camp and if Keenum best Goff out, fsir enough, but nooooooooo

Instead Fisher put training wheels on the 1st pick - wrong move

And Goff never got a chance and i'd be surprised if he gets one in 2017

Here is my logic for why sitting Goff is a move made out of fear (Bradfordphobia)

1.
I mean how does Hemingway see playing time and not Goff? How can Fisher afford to have Hemingway out there making mistakes but exclude the #1 pick in the entire draft from lewrning on the field? So if Fisher can let a 5th round selection compete thsn there has to be another reason for keeping Goff from doing the same

2.
Why is Mannion not dressing? He's sat and fucking "learned" - so why has he been demoted? Shouldn't he be dressing with all his sideline experience over Goff? There goes that argument about learning on the sidelines under Fisher helps make you better

Those are two glaring contradictions to this "sit and learn logic" which is supposedly designed to make you a better long-term pro - i say bullshit

Goff is #2 cause he has more talent than #3 Mannion - in fact he has more talent than any QB on the roster including and most of all Keenum - yet he was never given the chance to supplant Keenum who is now our starter for 2016 -- so more contradictions

I say it's moves based on fear he'll go down with an injury and their shiny nee toy won't be ready to open the new stadium. I say this cause Fisher did the same thing to Gurley by not letting him have training camp or get hit and you see how thats helped him.....

Anyway, i'm over the moon the Rams are in 1st four games in, but the facts are the facts -- sitting Goff is a fear based move with designs to keep the kid in one piece for 2018 and that new stadium and i call bullshit on this falacy of sitting and learning pipe-dream

(Excuse typos - i took auto-correct off my phone)

Keenum finished with a great stat line. He made a combination of great throws, average throws and terrible throws.

His turn over was almost very costly, and he had room in the pocket to step up. A QB with better pocket awareness probably doesn't allow that to happen.

IMO the biggest mistake teams make is the whole "we're winning, why make changes?" - what you are really doing is saying "we're not going to change anything until we lose". That's a mistake.

Now, not saying we should play Goff. I actually like sitting him for as long as we can...kid is only 21 years old.

We don't know what the deal is with Goff right now, but here is what I do know: Keenum missed too many open receivers today. Yes he played well. Yes he made some good throws. But he also made a lot of mistakes.

The good:

Donald, Quick, Gaines, Tru, Kendricks, youngGZ, and yes, Case

The bad:

Run blocking, O play calling, 3rd down inefficiency, Robinson, Fisher challenges! Benny hurt.

The ugly:

Me! A friend had to remind me we're 3-1 and I'm acting like a "bitter, fuck head"

60% completion percentage.
111.25 QB Rating.
2 Touchdowns.
8.9 yards per completion.
*W*
55 yards removed from his stat line (rushing and passing) due to O-line penalties.

Yeah, we should clearly pick some damn nits about how he played tonight.
Someone said it well...there are stats, then there are stats....
Looking at this game...did it seem like a one-score type of lead? Didn't it look like we should be clearly ahead?

You "Goff pushers"...please provide the proof that he deserves to start.

NFL quarterbacks are always under pressure. And Goff excels at making difficult throws with defenders bearing down on him. Cal's often overmatched offensive line helped Goff show off his excellent pocket presence and ability to buy more time to throw the ball. He can make big plays under pressure, and goes through his reads quickly. This ability to process information is one common trait we see among top-level quarterbacks in this post-Peyton Manning era. Accuracy is another key indicator of NFL success, and Goff is on target with the short and mid-level throws that keep the chains moving.

And better believe the rushing game is suffering because of the QB play....we shoulda put this game away...easily...Lets not waste this defenses prime years because of fear....

3-1, tie breaker, leader of NFCW.

Okay. But that's the Rams team as a whole.

I dunno jrry that second TD wasn't a 50-50 ball/contested catch that was a perfectly placed throw.

The best throw possible for that situation, it was a strike.

It was a great throw. It was also a contested catch. Keenum deserves all the praise in the world for that throw. But Quick does as well for a great catch.

Growing pains that might cost the team it's playoff chances?

If that's how they feel, keep him on the bench. But I have a hard time seeing that.

Winning is a skill. You don't bench Keenum till he starts being the reason we're losing the games. When that time comes, I'll be happy to see what Goff can provide.

That being said, it is painful to watch Goff's lack of accuracy and arm strength at times.

Goff's lack of accuracy and arm strength?

You probably meant to type Keenum there.

Goff drops dimes.

It's time he plays.

Glad Keenum got things going, now it's time to hand over the reins to the future.

I do think before I post as the board's message prompt suggests.

It just is so hard to get motivated to post anything before the masses when I see no one displaying any understanding of leadership skills, when I see no one understanding management uptake, and when I see a "home state" selection for the number one pick without a single person seeming to know that it was a marketing move to establish a team moving into a new area. When I see all of this and read inane posts arguing about a team that is winning, it greatly saddens me about the state of human slavery to marketing of the rich, the beautiful, and the politically connected.

Ex: Keenum was in this game.
How bad was it?
We only won by six.
Damn! They should have put the "golden child" in!

So this kid is still struggling vs. the scout team and posters want him starting actual NFL games?

I can, if he's throwing a good number of INTs vs. the scout team, as mentioned earlier. That and remembering the preseason fumbling issue should end any discussion of starting him over Keenum, IMO. But, I'm sure it will not.

Apparently, so does Ryan Tannehill. Yet, I'd love to hear an argument for Keenum being a better QB than him.

Not to mention the fact that Keenum has 4 TOs in 4 games.

No, it won't. The arguments have been the same for weeks. They're not changing anyone's mind. "Look at the preseason." "Look at how other rookie QBs did in the preseason." "But my memory tells me they weren't as bad." "These newspaper articles indicate otherwise." "Doesn't change my mind." "Doesn't change my mind either."

I have been around several different Rams message boards and cant recall more than a handful of posters claiming Goff was a "marketing move to establish a team moving into a new area." Its obvious the Rams had a great following in the LA area and did not need to draft Goff to sell tickets or promote the brand
