the recipe of cherry merry muffins
That brings back memories from an old board... there was this guy who used to combat trollers with recipes... pretty funny.

Yes so that means there shouldn’t be a penalty right?
Well unfortunately the world we live in is based on 90% appearance and the appearance was he was taunting him. He was up close and personal and should know better than that. He’s not a rookie. It doesn’t matter if he’s giving him the recipe of cherry merry muffins... do it farther away and not standing over him.

GD it means there shouldn't be a penalty. If an NFL official is going to penalize someone for taunting, perhaps they should make sure the person is actually, you know, taunting first. Even more so when the allegedly taunted player says he wasn't taunted.

If officials are going to start throwing flags merely for appearances, this league is even more f--ked than I've thought. Fans have rightfully criticized the NFL for being excessively restrictive on TD celebrations ... so now players are going to have to be so cautious they can't even talk to each other for fear of drawing a flag because it might appear as taunting to some flag-happy official? Yeah, that'll make the game more fun to watch ...

And now you come to the realization of where the league is headed. I’m not justifying how the NFL and in particular the Refferee association but this is the reality of where they are.
Which brings me to my point if you know those dumb shits are ticky tack why do that to even have a chance to cost your team?

The answer, he was being a me player and not a team player.

So, as I read this, I'm thinking he'd be as guilty as the players if he raised a stink and got a penalty (and fine). See what happened to Peyton when he made a stink? Cost them that game.

Lead by example... brush it off and become more determined!
Payton sure had a gripe IMO, being hit with 11 penalties while Atlanta only had 4 seemed out of whack

Yup... but, like Johnson, he should understand the consequences if the Ref throws the flag.

As someone in this thread said, these are things you can control.

I get it... things get frustrating at times... very frustrating.

But, understand where you are in the game and what might happen if you lose your composure.

Early in a game? Probably not that big a deal... minutes left in a game? BIG deal.

Both Peyton and Johnson hurt their teams at critical times.

Avoidable.

Just how I see it.

Even if they were "warned", I don't think that means anything in this case if they were talking about football.

It'd be like you getting pulled over for going 25 miles per hour when the speed limit is 25 and let off with a warning for speeding. Naturally you would go 25 again in a 25 mile per hour zone, and in this case Tru got a speeding ticket for it.

A warning at most is what should have happened there. Not a game changing penalty for 2 players just running their mouths at each other 40 yards away from everyone else.

If warnings were already given... and the ref was that hell bent on throwing a flag... they both should have been given off-setting penalties. That would have put them both on notice (cause a 2nd one of those gets you tossed from the game). That's how you get control of 2 players like that without changing the outcome of the game.

Worst call I've seen in a very long time. Absolute crap.

I think the PI on him in the first quarter was worse. Tru made an excellent play.

Tru needs to get the heck away from that guy after he makes a nice defensive play, especially after being warned. He can’t put himself in that situation, & this will be addressed to the whole team. They need to be better than that , & for sure in that circumstance.

We as fans can defend that behavior all we want. The player has to be more disciplined.

- in fact I’m yelling at the TV say get away, get away from him !!!
—Tru likes to talk his crap. He did it against SD during the scrimmage at UCI. I was drinking a Taco Bell soda & almost spelled it on myself. I saw him getting into the fight before it even happened. Started walking down the top bleacher as it was going on.Caught the end of it on my phone video , but he needs to stop that crap because he is to good of a player to cause The Rams having to play another set of downs for no reason.

I called it in the first quarter, after the Eagles scored, then taunted us in the end zone. I told my buddy that when they call a team for taunting, it would be against the Rams, and it would be crucial.

I've just seen it way too many times.

Trey Burton's taunting on that first touchdown was FAR worse than Tru's "taunting" with Jeffery, and he had no flags.

Just another horrific call from Wrolshit's (or Whorestad's: pick whatever you want) crew.

I'm not saying he should run out on the field and hurt the team more. Rather that he should show some of that inner MFing rage that I know he's got in his postgame presser. I would have laid those refs the F out after that game in the press. Straight up would have called the NFL on their favoritism and attempted crowning of the other team and given them the PR flak that they deserve.

Sometimes clapping along isn't going to get you anything more than further abuse. I think making the refs and NFL hear it can be a good thing in cases where their influence is over the top in one direction, as it sure the F was in that game.

This was the one I was talking about, but the Eagles taunted a few more times after that one. Just stupid, but the officials seemed hell bent on calling that, in fact, they seemed eager, and happy to do so. I guess we should sew some pockets in our pants, and while the thread and needle are out, sew all of our mouths shut too.

Then, on third downs, just don't move from our stance, and maybe on field goals, we should just lay down backwards.

Oh, and I guess that our offensive line should just not block anyone, our receivers shouldn't try to separate, etc.

Being totally sarcastic, by the way.

I'm thinking that only makes matters worse. Call them out in public?

IF they weren't holding any grudges BEFORE, they certainly would now.

I think it's best to just leave it alone... voice your displeasure in a professional way... let the refs know you are not happy but don't piss them off.

Like it or not, they hold a lot of power.

The pi on Tru I thought was bad because you can have your hand, not sure how much of your arm, on a receiver as long as you're not changing his direction or impeding him from his route with your grabbing. Dbs have their arms around waists all the time. Plus Tru looked back to the ball.

The taughnting penalty however was all Tru. As other posters have said I was talking nicely to the tv saying just back off Tru, dont get a penalty. And this was without knowing he had already been warned. And thats the difference. Whether you think it was a bullshit penalty to call as a ref, and I do, Tru was warned, so continuing to do it was just asking for a flag. I don't give a shit about what the other guy is doing. Everyone knows its usually the 2nd guy reacting that draws the attention. You just had a big 3rd down stop so let that play do your talking. Tell alshon he can go sit on the bench and think about why he can't beat you.

Fish always did what you suggest and rarely got the benefit. Meanwhile there are plenty of coaches who call the refs out and tend to do quite well. Just in this year's NFC playoff group you have Payton and Zimmer.

IMO it works both ways and I think some of these refs actually don't want to deal with the coaches that are hard on them.

The way it looks right now, my bet is that two players from Seattle will be sitting this week because they couldn't control themselves in Jacksonville.

Ummm. I think you're forgetting this is the SEAHAWKS you're talking about...NO WAY they get a suspension. Mark my words. Truly hoping I'm wrong.

The NFL wonders about their product and the decline in interest. I think it's pretty DAMN clear.

Well I hate to be right all the time, but told ya so.

NFL is going downhill fast.

You think the calls were bad yesterday? Wait until next Sunday against the team that gets away with the second most of any team in the league. in THEIR hostile environment on top of that.

Going to be U-G-L-Y ugly.

I just finished watching the first half!

I cannot believe how bad these refs have been.

Tru's first PI was not PI. They were both arm barring and he got his head around and hit the ball.

The Hold on Sullivan (who had a tough game) on the 22 yard Gurley run. That was a pretty iffy call. Definitely not a hold as compared to Tyrunn Walker getting held on the Blount 22/21 yard run.

The Eagle Oline gets away with way too many holds. Like Brockers being held on the long Torrey Smith catch right before half that gifted the Eagles 3 points.

They were running a lot of pick plays that went uncalled. I recall a long pass to Agholor in which NRC is clearly picked and there was no flag.

I agree that it was a bad call but I also think this kind of behavior is the definition of unsportsman like conduct.

Have hated it since the league started allowing it.

Just do your fucking job and get ready for the next play.

Watching Pats-Dolphins. Pats WR pushes on defenders face mask and defender is called for PI. 3rd and 5, they get a 1st down on Miamis 3. How the ref missed that I don't know.
