"they said that these guys had been talking, going back and forth and there had been some warnings going on and that was the decision that the side judge made and those are things that we have to respect and we have to handle the right way and I trust that we will as we move forward.”

The problem is TJ has been in the league long enough to know better.
He was getting beat all day and finally makes a play and has to boast about it.
It's not like he is a dominant CB. The Rams had the same problem in the past with a handful of guys that couldn't help themselves. Just do your job and let your play speak for itself.

A warning at most is what should have happened there. Not a game changing penalty for 2 players just running their mouths at each other 40 yards away from everyone else.

If warnings were already given... and the ref was that hell bent on throwing a flag... they both should have been given off-setting penalties. That would have put them both on notice (cause a 2nd one of those gets you tossed from the game). That's how you get control of 2 players like that without changing the outcome of the game.

Worst call I've seen in a very long time. Absolute shit.

"I'm not telling you two again. Knock off the arguing or I swear I'll turn this game around!"

"But he started it!"
.
Pathetic.

The Officials have to understand the game is not about them, it never is, no reason for throwing a flag there and IMO, that is where the Head Lineman (Chief of the Crew) needs to step in and tell the side judge to pick up the damn flag! Sorry, that Ref should be fined and exiled to Siberia.

Exactly. People mad about the ref throwing a game changing penalty, how about if Tru talks shit but doesn’t get all in his grill? That’s what did it... he knows better and it cost us.
Especially after warnings.
Freaking dipshit.

Tru did give him a little shove.
For Christ sakes, the team has been getting penalties like this for years. Got to be more disciplined.
Still and all, the excessive and inconsistency of penalties makes the game unwatchable

Everyone can get on Johnson, but sorry, with a game of that magnitude and at that moment, when something like that happens, get in between the players and keep the damn flag in your pocket. Throw for the obvious, not shit like that. And I understand you cannot fine an official, but IMO, the Line Judge overstepped and I don't care if he warned him in the first quarter, give me a break.

In the words of Mark Twain..."It's never wrong to do the right thing." I don't wish that official any irreparable harm, however, I hope he gets coal in his stocking, but nowadays, that's not a bad gift.

These kind of dumb mistakes by our team have been going on for years...

It's Jeff Fisher Ball remnants... we would always make dumb character/unsportsmanlike penalties at the worse times.

There is no excuse for it.. the official didn't HAVE to call it, but don't put the official in a position to do so.

It's called playing smart, and being a championship contender instead of a would coulda shoulda, if not for the mean ol refs.

Alshon started it getting in Tru's grill, by your logic he should have gotten a flag not TruJo. The ref's sucked beyond belief.

Finally somebody else who gets it!

Go back and watch it again.. Tru gives him a shove first.. then Alshon smiles at him.

I'm not arguing it was a "good call" or "bad call" its a play that could have been avoided easily.

I'd rather win I guess....

With both players talking all game and being warned prior to that penalty. ..then the absolute worst it should have been imho...is an offsetting penalty. ...

Go Rams....... ;)

I was yelling at the tv, telling Tru to walk away. I saw the possibility of a penalty coming. But if you're going to let a player throw another player of the opposite team down to the ground, stand over him and yell at him, but not let let trash talking fly.... Something needs to be fixed.

Honestly this conversation I'm having with some of you reminds me of the conversations I have with my 12 year old sons when they are acting like douchebags on the basketbal lcourt.

"He was doing it to, the officials aren't calling it against them..."

Yeah I get it... but learn how to be smart and win.

Just mind boggling really.

So why didn't the other guy get penalized? He was running his mouth too, and when he got up he leaned into TJ's facemask with his helmet.

Dumbshit call and there is no way to defend it, the ref fucked this up.
