We got beaten fairly badly on the trade value chart

Especially if this RB they drafted does well.Les Snead always talking about winning the division in April. Here we are & he fumbles 30 points of value to the rivals ? Ouch.

True, but football isn't played in shorts. Diagnostic and processing speed. Anticipation. Intangibles. A "slow" player can easily find themselves in the right place at the right time more often than a dim witted speedster. Let's see how the young man does!

Granted, Vontaze Burfict was a complete POS, but he's the example of a slow LB (ran over 5s in the 40 with accompanying slow times in the drills) who was a very solid starter with excellent instincts who made a ton of plays.

Hate using him as the example, but dude could play when he wasn't trying to injure players.

I'd rather have a sub 4.8 guy with instincts over a sub 4.6 guy without... no question.

I just read that right before the 57th pick, someone asked Snead how he felt. He said "Not too well."

So they thought he meant to pick Tutu Atwell.

In reality his highlights are sick... The guy is dynamic.

If Duante Smith at 6-1 165 is not too slight to be taken top ten, then a 5-9 153 guy can be taken at pick 57.

If Atwell played at Bama he would have been a higher pick. If Smith played at Louisville he wouldn't have been a first rounder.

Regardless of whether we drafted Humphrey or Meinerz or any other IOL, truth is, they were unlikely to start this year. McVay has shown little interest in starting rookie O linemen.

My disappointment lies in the fact that had we drafted one of these guys, they would have had a very solid redshirt year to learn our system and start next year when a few of our current linemen come off contract.

Good chance this is very true. I believe the basis fans use for formulating an opinion here is the absence of a known starter at Center, the impending retirement of Whitworth, and the potential loss of several offensive linemen to free agency following this season. The Rams are likely good to go for the OL in 2021, although extending some player contracts for beyond this season may have just become a little more urgent.
Hard to say whether Carberry or Morris had much say in the draft war room prior to todays picks, but I do hope to see a bit more of there influence for Day 3 of this draft. jmo.

Cushenberry sucked dude! Get a clue.

First half of the season, yeah... but dude came on late and looks to be a hit as a pick.

My best football friend is as big a Broncos fan as I am a Rams fan and he's hyped on Cushenberry's progress.

He cursed me up and down when we took Hollins from their PS. Well, after they took Quinn Meinerz... he knows we're even... or more likely they're ahead.

I REALLY think that Wyatt Davis was the target... sometimes you can be too cute and I think this draft is in danger of getting away from them.

They really need to hit some home runs in the 4th to save this draft.

Now, granted, we've seen them draft well late and that's great, but I dunno that we NEEDED them to hit on those picks... now we def do because we've drafted so far a DJax replacement and a backup ILB.

Just a casual observation From my time here

I’ve seen the pick of Tavon Austin praised
Ive seen Todd Gurley pick renounced
Greg Robinson was praised by the majority
Jeff Holland meltdown
same for Shaquem Griffin

just to name a few

I try not to get to worked up over these things

I really like the addition of the two mid 4th round picks, having a night to study the reset board appears to be what Snead does best, this draft is so way different due to the unknowns from last years abbreviated cfb season

I’d say we’re set up nicely

Seriously was trying to be positive and see the silver lining with us taking a LB ( my favorite position ) and went to watch some of his games. Guy seems to be average and a reach tbh. He has a good pair of hands if the ball gets near him but he takes the wrong first step a lot, gets washed out in run plays, bad angles, is to light when a OL touches him he's basically done, no swim or violent arms/hands to get blockers off of him.

smfh I'm out hopefully the devalued picks from the Whiners save us tomorrow and the weed smoke clears up from the draft house.

I was watching film and here's what I saw.

If he's playing as a downhill 2 down ILB, he's very good.

If he's in zone coverage of RBs and TEs, he's good.

If he's covering a RB out of the backfield, he can get lost in the wash.

If he's forced to be the Mike in a 4-3 Cover 2 set, he's got issues.

He's a solid tackler, but can miss tackles.

He's got pretty good instincts, but will miss steps occasionally.

He's got tremendous closing speed on scrambling QBs (something I'm SURE the scouts for the Rams loved).

He's got very good football IQ.

If the DL in front of him doesn't keep him clean, he's not gonna Ray Lewis himself past a G and C to get to the RB. A'Shawn Robinson and SJD should help in that regard.

Overall, I think he's a good fit in this D and should develop nicely... and he'll be a special teams demon.

If Raheem Morris ever decides to switch to a 4-3, this guy would be a casualty of that situation... he'd be a middling MLB at best, but he's not gonna get the deep drops necessary for a 4-3 Mike.

Apparently Snead has Covid. He is quarantined. Everyone should be somewhat concerned que y no?

Well, he had is first shot already and was due to get his second shot on Monday.

Based on his symptoms, he should be glad he got the first shot when he did because otherwise, he'd be in much worse shape... that's almost certain.

He may feel like utter dogshit for the next week, but I expect him to pull through with minimal complications.

that said, the timing SUCKS. This is the GM Super Bowl...

I'll just stfu and see if we can coach him up. Most of his issues are coaching and to develop instincts to be violent upon contact with blockers hands and positioning.

Hell AD didn't even start when we drafted him so this guy might not see the field till half the season at the earliest. Hopefully will be a good asset down the road.

That's a bullshit take. Tutu isn't in Devonta's league. Devonta played with a bigger, faster, and more skilled WR than Tutu in Henry Ruggs, and Devonta outproduced him badly in 2019. It's not just about Tutu being tiny. Outside of being very fast and quick, he's not particularly great at football.

We are now at the end of prime Free agency and draft acquisitions and the 2021 team looks weaker than 2020.

Certainly not weaker on offense. Stafford is a big improvement and I'd argue that our OL is better by default with whoever Blythe's replacement happens to become. And we may not like where our new gadget WR was drafted, but he still offers us an element which didn't exist last year, that's a lot of weapons for Stafford to put to use. If DeSean Jackson can remain healthy, that's one more game changer on this already deep roster. The off-season is no-where near complete as potential trades and the next phase of free agency could still mean more additions. Now Les, make me happy and round things out by trading one of our 4'th rounders for TE David Njoku.

On defense we have a number of 2020 injured players returning to the line-up along with a host of reserve players which is likely to produce at least one or two surprises for us, so i'm not going to let the negativity get me down. jmo.

I believe Brad Holmes was our head of college scouting for years and now it's his underlings and Snead. I've feared this Holmes left for Detroit and today was somewhat of a confirmation for me.

Sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy. I had no fears of that, and I like this draft. DJax will get hurt and now we have someone just as fast to step in.

Jones' leadership and intangibles are off the charts. He will have a chance to start, but even if he doesn't, he will improve the special teams.

But then I felt these were two of our most pressing needs, which is probably why I'm happy.

As for the brain trust being in Detroit - it's dramatic because it's way too soon to tell if that has any impact and these picks really aren't that different from what we've done the past few years.

So you believe this draft thus far has been rational? I really feel like a WR was not needed...

I dont have much of an opinion. I have full confidence in the FO until they give me a reason not to. When we start losing, and guys dont pan out at all... then yeah, I'll most likely change my stance which means there could be change in the FO. But until that time, I'm honestly ok with whoever they draft. They are in their respective positions for a reason. Not to mention that other coaches and FO dudes keep getting plucked from us; there is fruit of our success.
