Agreed.

Not sure about others, but my "complaining" about this draft is mostly in jest... just lookin' to rant while having some fun with it.

(Especially since my "scouting" involved watching a handful of highlight videos and sometimes reading Lindy's draft magazine when taking a dump.)

I was "pounding the table" for Meinerz and Humphrey, while whining about Tutu... but for all we know, those two OL could be busts while Tutu could be a game-changer. Who knows.

Draft is full of unknowns even for the experts. Like many here, I view McVay as the savior of this franchise, and while I may whine a bit on draft day, ultimately I'm just grateful that the Rams are a smart organization that's winning again.

Tutu would have still been there if The Rams trade back.Find a partner.
Then to trade with The 9ers later on ?? I’ve gone off before.I believe Les Snead did that once again before.

Who we draft is irrelevant. All the NFL teams go by the trade value chart when discussing moves. This wasn't even close and we agreed to move back. 112 to 150 is inexcusable when its a 3rd round pick. Thats a premium pick and should be a starter. One of the worst trades I've ever seen Snead make tbh.
I know we took in the ass on the trade chart two minutes after the trade. But, who we pick and how they develop are very relevant to our future. Depends on if Snead thinks the players 30 picks later drop that much in quality, he might like the depth of this draft.

I think they could of traded back 30 spots and still got the player they liked at #57. Perhaps the players they like at 88 are still there at 117.

I am interested in seeing how we draft after losing Holmes and others.

LOL. No, I'm not. It's literally in his post. I jumped to the only rational conclusion mandated by his words. If Tutu is going higher and Devonta isn't going in the first, where are both guys going to end up?
I was joking. I meant you were jumping to conclusions thinking I had read your post properly. I have having to explain sarcasm.

That's a bullshit take. Tutu isn't in Devonta's league. Devonta played with a bigger, faster, and more skilled WR than Tutu in Henry Ruggs, and Devonta outproduced him badly in 2019. It's not just about Tutu being tiny. Outside of being very fast and quick, he's not particularly great at football.
Is Smith the 10th pick if he plays at Louisville?

Is Atwell a household name and maybe the 30th pick if he plays at Bama?

That's all i am saying.

BTW, Bama's QB play improved with Jones full 2nd yr this season as last yr he was thrusted into the line up after Tua's injury. They were just a better team this yr as well.

So I keep seeing people say Snead and McVay are great at drafting and have a good enough track record that we shouldn't question them. That's fine I get it either support everything they do or shut up and sit in a corner attitude is common these days. But how about the misses?

2017
Kupp and JJ3 Unquestioned great picks
Gerald Everett - Showed athletic promise and had some decent plays but largely just another guy as a backup TE.
Josh Reynolds - Just a 4th WR at best.
Samson Ebukam - Won a defensive player of the week but is anybody impressed with his time with us?
Tanzel Smart - I think he took some snaps as a rotational DL guy. Largely a JAG (just another guy)
Sam Rogers and Ejuan Price I don't know they ever even made the roster so 2 of 8 good picks 2 others roster filler backups.

2018
Noteboom - Largely a failure at Guard but was ok in limited time at LT but has injury issues.
Brian Allen - Most around here were pissed he wasn't cut after his run as starter but seems to be the heir apparent to Blythe so who knows what that means
John Franklin Myers - On the Rams 1 year out of the league the next then was ok from reports last year with the Jets
Micah Kiser - Injured a lot and I think most around here aren't happy with him since a lot seem to want to replace him on the roster with a guy who's comp is him.
Okowronkwo - Showed some flashes but injury issues.
John Kelly - 30 carries in 3 years....
Jamil Demby - I think people think worse of him than of Brian Allen.
Sebastian Joseph-Day - Starting NT and a good player.
Trevon Young, Travin Howard and Justin Lawler - I don't think there's a defensive start among the three in 3 years.

So 1 stud and the rest seems like a bunch of JAG or busts.

2019
Taylor Rapp - Was good his rookie year mostly then got hurt and lost his starting job in camp to a rookie. Jury still out but should be good if he can stay healthy.
Darrell Henderson - Again health issues but seems a decent backup RB
David Long - Hasn't done much to show he can be a starter.
Bobby Evans - Seems good enough as a backup Has only started 7 games in 2 years and that was due to injuries of guys ahead of him.
Greg Gaines - Seems like good depth had a good 2020 after being largely a non factor his rookie year.
David Edwards - Seems like a decent starting Guard.
Nick Scott - Good special teams player and got some defense snaps last year due to all the injuries.
Dakota Allen - Training camp all star that got poached when we tried to put him on the PS. Started 2 games last year for the Jags.

Still to early to tell but 2 look good another couple look like they could be good roster filler.

2020 its too early to tell but a couple look good.

They've done a good job of building and coaching a winner but lets not pretend that they don't have their faults in the draft and free agency here guys.
Complaining about 6th & 7th rounders is silly. You fail to take into consideration where a guy is picked

Now go look at other team's "misses"

The entire “he would have been there later” argument is just a guessing game. I fall into it but we give nfl analysts waaay to much credit when we do this. These guys don’t know.

One of the guys people were pounding the table for in round 2 was there for us in round 3 if we wanted him.

We just don’t know.

I’m underwhelmed myself, but I think a big part of that is that I don’t know and so I want analysts to say “great pick”

If you want that - watch Louis Riddick’s reaction to the Tutu pick.

I think my problem after watching the highlights is that Tutu goes down like Monica Lewinski. A stiff wind could knock him down.

After reading that Atwell played QB all four years of HS in Florida and lead his team to a 6A championship, then converting to WR in college, I think I am starting to see what McVay may have envisioned, a gadget receiver/runner with the ability to pass the ball as well. Hmmm...

First half of the season, yeah... but dude came on late and looks to be a hit as a pick.

My best football friend is as big a Broncos fan as I am a Rams fan and he's hyped on Cushenberry's progress.

He cursed me up and down when we took Hollins from their PS. Well, after they took Quinn Meinerz... he knows we're even... or more likely they're ahead.

I REALLY think that Wyatt Davis was the target... sometimes you can be too cute and I think this draft is in danger of getting away from them.

They really need to hit some home runs in the 4th to save this draft.

Now, granted, we've seen them draft well late and that's great, but I dunno that we NEEDED them to hit on those picks... now we def do because we've drafted so far a DJax replacement and a backup ILB.
You replied to him before I could. Cushenberry is coming along fine. He's not without his flaws, but that's most players taken at his draft position. He's a young center that certainly seems like he will be a productive center for some time. That's something our Rams could certainly use.

I've never been on board thinking that a WR or TE acquired immediately replaces another on Sean's team. He obviously likes weapons and favorable matchups. So he's still going to continue using that theory and up the speed, and basically his thoughts are you can't double team one weapon and leave another weapon 1 on 1. He want's to give Stafford a lot of firepower so he can light up the cannon. (Offensive line tweaking is next.)

Thank you for replying and so glad that you read the post and came away with the completely wrong impression from what I was saying.

Akers was a QB too. Options abound for the trick plays that's for sure.

Sorry but fuck trick plays, that does not win championships. Playoff football is still essentially tough defense and the ability to run the ball. Of course in today’s NGL you need to throw it too but clock management demoralizing the opposing defense by running it down their throats wins more often.

I agree. I was only pointing out what McVay may be thinking and trying to make sense of it. I was hoping for a much larger WR for sure.
