Just purely for fun, and of course hypothetically, would you trade right now, straight across Goff for R. Wilson?
Ya got to admit it's an interesting scenario to discuss, while we wait 14 days for our next game.

.
(what would our current offense look like, and perform like, with Wilson as QB)

Wilson is the only mobile QB I respect. Mahomes is a far second (his team just has way more talent and better coaching).

I would only make that trade if McVay is comfortable running that kind of offense. I doubt he would adopt the "let Russ cook" style of play calling.

Goff ranks right in between Russell Wilson and Mitch Trubisky. He can have games where he looks like either

I might criticize him from time to time but Goff is the QB that I want playing for the Rams for years to come.

Realistically speaking ...living in NY Id keep my eye on the jets. I would love for the Jets to draft Lawrence and they would be giving Sam Darnold away alla Josh Rosen same can be said for the giants with Daniel Jones. I would love for the rams to get there hands on either preferably Darnold. These kids have time and they have scrambling ability especially Jones but they can both throw from the pocket.

I prefer Darnold because he has been utterly destroy by gase and a team with offensive weapons equivalent to st Mary's high school squad. Both these guys behind a piss poor o-line. Might push Goff but in all honesty these guys have played under terrible conditions only something like that could allow you to trade Goff to a qb desparate team. I'm keeping my eye on that situation.

Also there contracts Darnold won't command much because he has proven nothing under the jets for reasons mentioned above. And Jones still has some rookie contract years left.

I do think the giants are more of a long shot but the jets are definitely a possiblity.

No.
He does need some more development, but appears there's a bit more going on with the team than just Goff.

Who wouldn't? Seriously whats the purpose of this @BriansRams
Kinda trollish to be honest.

Why not start same thread and substitute Tyler Higbee with Travis Kelce? Or Leonard Floyd with TJ Watt.

Why not have a viable conversation about alternatives to Goff instead.

I'll start. Matt Stafford. It's all downhill from there.

I didn't mean to make anyone angry.
I was starting what I thought was a fun football discussion ... on a discussion forum?
That's kinda all there was to it.

Im surprised rivers, newton weren’t begging for a deal.

I’d take Wilson in a heartbeat and I hate Seattle players even after they are dealt to other teams.

Could happen at the end of the year but I doubt anyone would take on his salary. Remember Goff wasn't McVays guy-he was Fishers. If the Rams fail to make the playoffs you might hear rumors

Here's what I would do if I'm the Rams... Wait until after this season. This is Goff's 5th season. He has a strong defense and a pretty good offense around him. If McVay isn't happy with his QB after this season you make the change.

He carries a $34M cap hit next season. How do we make a change even if we wanted to? No one is going to trade for that contract when they can draft a rookie for dirt cheap. We're kind of stuck until after 2022 which would be this year plus 2 more.

I really hope he starts playing better but his trajectory has been declining since the end of 2018. I'm curious how many games like this can McVay tolerate knowing the type of coach he is? Can he really put Walford in to see what he has, or draft a mid round QB and sit $30M+ on the bench?

Russell Wilson has never made an NFC championship game without a top ranked defense.

Goff did it in year 3.

The Rams would do that immediately but it would never be available so it's a pointless question.

Some of you aren't reading the original post.
It was a specific, simple question. Would you trade away Goff right now ... for Wilson?

.
Of COURSE it's never going to happen. It's only an interesting what if or would you?
Your answer to the question can help you kinda figure out how good of a player you think Goff is .. can become.
But to many QB's take a huge leap in talent and reading defenses in their 6th year?

Come on man. You’re willfully ignoring reality and cherry picking a super subjective stat that favors Goff. Do you honestly believe that at this moment in time Jared Goff is better than Russell Wilson?

Nah, I've talked so much shit about Wilson throughout the years that I would feel dirty rooting for him.

That's true.
Also, Russel Wilson has not broken any records of any kind!
It was always a top ranked defense making him look good.

I would have McVay, who has a really good grasp of what to look for in a QB, draft one he likes this offseason in that scenario. This offense doesn't need a top 10 pick at QB to complete play action passes and occasionally make throws from the pocket. That's the beauty of this offense.

Look at the Skins. They missed badly on RG3 and yet McVay allowed them to turn to a little known guy in Cousins. McVay is enormously valuable in that regard IMO.

Wow I wasn't even going there because I don't think the jets would want that. They would be focused on Lawrence or trading the pick for a bounty.

They would have no interest in Goff. It would have to be a team that has been searching for a QB for years.

I think if the Jets take Lawrence Darnold could be had like a Josh Rosen.
