But they will also be human, and will also make mistakes.

Why allow a review on some things, but not others?

It makes no sense.
I don’t want more replays, especially on judgment calls. I do want simpler rules and consistent calls.

The rationale, I think, is that when the QB is in the pocket, he's not running. A horse collar tackle, as you know, can cause serious injury when you use it on a guy who's on the move. That said, I don't think Goff was still in the pocket.
I get that, I don’t think it was roughing the passer. I thought that horse collar tackles were illegal and therefore penalized. If an RB or WR get horse collared, don’t they throw a flag?

Why is it more replays? Let the coaches use what replay challenges they already are allotted. Same amount. If they use them up and can’t review a call like that, that’s on them

Jared’s helmet mysteriously implodes just before kickoff and Mannion’s helmet suddenly has problems as well. Hmmmmm....

The Saints are allowed to blast music at full tilt while plays are being called. If fans do the deed, fine. But to hand the home team an electronic advantage is a huge disparity of “fair play.”

So.....riddle me this. One or two blown calls vs an entire quarter of unfair competitive advantage...which one is more egregious?

The Saints are advocating to have all plays reviewed because they are the only team in the NFL that doesn't commit pass interference.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the rule gets implemented and in a future playoff game (hopefully with Sean Peyton as head coach), the Saints lose because they get called for a pass interference that wasn't called but overturned by replay?

Be careful what you as for.

Right, sorry for the wording error on my part. Horse Collar tackles are allowed on QBs in the pocket. Which I found amazing.

ARTICLE 15. HORSE-COLLAR TACKLE

No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, or grab the jersey at the name plate or above, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket.

I wasn't talking about roughing either. I was trying to explain (what I feel is) the rationale behind excluding QBs from that rule if they're still in the pocket. As it stands, it's not illegal to horse-collar a QB while he's moving around (or stationary) in the pocket - for whatever reason.

Cooks was also very briefly grabbed by the facemask.

The only play I can understand not allowing a review on is when the ref blows the play dead.
Would have loved a review on the missed face mask that would have given 1st and goal from the 1.

Cooks you mean right.

It's not more replays, and it isn't on judgment calls.

Simplifying rules leaves more room for opinion and judgement.

Consistent calls can be helped by allowing coaches to challenge calls.

As I said in another post too mike Thomas should of pulled out another cell phone this time to call upper management to get him another wide receiver for help maybe if he plays better saints win.

I think he might have hid his phone in Coleman's helmet and was trying to make that call right here.

Cooks was very quickly grabbed on that deep catch too.
Cooks was bad too but they scored a TD on that possession anyway. The Goff miss was huge as it would have eaten clock and they likely would have had a 4 point lead.

I have to go thru the game but early on Apple broke up a pass, (Reynolds possibly) but clearly led with his helmet and gave the WR a shot to the head. Nothing was said, looked like a targeting type shot. I’ll find it

Edit-7:24 Mark. Apple on Woods.

You guys had a chance after week 9 to get homefield advantage (remember, we lost to Dallas).

Your confusion is misguided. Good for you guys you get the Saints at your place next year. Maybe you can round up enough fans to have a homefield advantage?

How did your home field advantage go?

.

Don't even get me started on fans who try to shout as loud as they can so the opposing team can't hear themselves, what year did sports cross over into that poor sportsmanship nonsense? 1980s?
I can remember as a kid in the sixties where the home team would be penalized if the fans were so loud that it interfered with the opponents ability to communicate, in the refs opinion. That was a long time ago. Don't know when they changed the rule, but by the mid-70s it had been scrapped for a while.

Whistles are against league rules and there are pictures of at least 2 fans out there with them - and based on the whistling sounds from the TV, probably a bunch more.

I used to Ref & was watching the game with a Gal that doesn’t know much about football. She was thinking the fans being to loud should be a penalty. I’ Like no way .

The fact is Inheard whistles all over the place. That in itself should be a penalty on the home team & there responsibility.
