I doubt it. Cook has hands of stone. By accounts I have heard from those that have seen Hopkins play, he is a natural receiver and just had some concentration laps drops.

It's not just the drops that are the problem. Hopkins is a poor blocker who is almost disinterested in it at times. Could he improve? Sure, but blocking-wise, he's not going to displace Everett right now. Hopkins is a hell of a receiver, but he's annoyed me at times when I watched him; it almost seemed like he didn't care as a blocker.

Well I learned one thing today...Im never going to say anything about Jake or DTR anymore.

Especially if I dont know anything about the 9th ranked TE he’s pumping as the best in the draft!

you can say whatever you like man, but what you said was completely wrong.

jake cries about the rams picks with the best of them. it just so happened he liked that pick.

then you called him some kind of homer that would like every pick.

that isn't the case.

Nah man. I've been pretty harsh on him at times. It's just that he is echoing pretty much what my old boss is saying and I know that guy knows football really well. It's more that you just weren't making any sense.

I don’t know man, his production his senior season, the Big Ten Tight End of the Year, and first-team all-conference honors with 61 receptions for 830 yards (13.6 per) and seven touchdowns in 12 games (11 starts). His father was a Pro Bowl offensive lineman.

Others think he was the best, there are YouTube videos about it. There are other people saying it. Who cares? He will either be a good player for us or not, but it’s too early to celebrate his demise, and it’s too early to say he’s a bonafide threat.

I see this fracture of fans who saw a bad OL last year, and that equates to drafting players, and that’s just not how it works. We already drafted a big influx of OL talent the last few years. Everyone is starting out healthy this year, and we have depth, and competition at every OL position.

In this draft, everyone over drafted the OL. The top two OL that I liked at our draft position, and by universal draftnik position, both went in the top 30. Both players were projected in the 50 - 60’s.

I think, everyone is gonna find out that the Rams really love Brian Allen, and the other interior guys.

I'm seeing a lot of positive reviews of our draft that are very specific about Hopkins being a real potential steal.

Why is this kid not going to see the field at all? Because he's a rookie? Aside from Whit and Big Rob, our O-line is VERY young and started to step up at the end of the season. Littleton wasn't exactly a premier draft pick. We could easily already have someone step in to replace him with little fall off in production.

Hes not going to see the field this year because we have Higbee and Everett who will dominate 2-TE sets. Will he even be active on game day? The o-line improving late in the year was a facade. The unit still ranked 31st for the entire season. McVay used rollouts for almost every single pass play late in the year. The running game was dead late in the year. If the line was playing so well late, how come we couldn't run the ball? How come play action stopped working? Come on man, do you honestly think the FO was content with our o-line, or they missed out on the players we targeted? How could they not be targeting o line early when it was the main reason our season was shit last year. When you have a problem, you do whats necessary to fix it, you dont ignore it. Especially when that problem affects every aspect of your offense and allows your $94M investment to succeed. How is Goff seriously going to play this season behind this line? Its fucking deja vu. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

So exactly as I suspected, it clearly does not say anyone is a homer that loves every pick.

You simply bent the words to show a more derogatory example of my meaning.

You do know that I didnt even realize it was DTR? Which doesn't really matter, but i just read the quote and got a chuckle, then made a comment about it because that is the general nature all of us. to see all things Rams with love and protection. We really can drop it, Im secure enough that I dont have to win every battle. I concede I concede...

I know nothing about the TE in question. Hell, maybe he really is the best in the draft.

No, it's more fact / not-a-fact
Corbett was traded / not cut
Blythe was drafted / not undrafted

Youre arguing as if theyre good players? Corbett was benched, regarded as a total bust, and shipped off for a late round pick a few years after he was drafted with a 2nd round pick. Go read up on what he did in Cleveland. And Blythe was a 7th rounder, not an UDFA woooow. The point is their TALENT is not sufficient. Thats the point. We are building our line with late round picks and miscasts while other NFL teams are investing real picks/money to ENSURE their line is great. All the meanwhile SF keeps adding 1st round DL talent. Im sure our cast of misfits can block Bosa, Dee Ford, and Kinlaw nooo problem. Should be easy with all the talent we have up front.

I like the Hopkins pick, great value for pick #136. I mentioned a month ago that the Rams were looking hard at RB and TE, so the pick doesn't surprise me at all. The Rams need depth at the position.
The Rams have a new OC and we could be seeing some new wrinkles that uses TEs more than in the past.
If one was to get injured, we would have to alter our offense.
There is now a back up plan in case Everett doesn't want to come back or is priced out of our range.
The worst thing going for Hopkins is the fact that he is not an OLman.
A lot of our draftees are not being accepted as well as they should because a lot of us would have preferred a lineman instead.

It didn't have to be Dye. There were other good LBs out there. If not LB then why would you not draft OL. It was hands down our biggest weakness last year, you think Snead and McVay HONESTLY went into this draft saying "no we're fine with our OL." That is complete bullshit. The players they targeted were obviously drafted already, and now Goff has no new blocking help around him. The QB who is more affected by pressure than anyone and had the 31st ranked OL last year. And we decided not to invest additional picks to improving it. We are doubling down on a the same decision that ruined our season last year. You can defend the pick all you want. This kid is not going to see the field AT ALL this year. We could have drafted Everett's replacement next year.
We had 7 1st & 2nd yr players get playing time on the OL last yr. They seemed to get better down the stretch. You have to keep developing them. You think another 4th rounder is going to step in and start?

actually he was shipped off 1 year after he was drafted. this is them admitting they had no fucking clue what they were doing, picking a lineman that didn't fit their scheme.

so the rams got the 33rd overall pick the year after he was drafted for a 5th round pick. excellent value.

I’m scratching my head with a lot of our picks, but I also don’t follow college football as much as I do with the NFL. I just wish we addressed some more pressing needs (at least from a fan’s perspective). Regardless, I’ll trust Snead + McVay on these picks. Very surprised we have not drafted any OL.

would’ve been a wasted draft pick.

Not really. But neither was Everett and was coached up.

It’s more like Johnny Mundt is in trouble. Everett becomes a FA at the end of the year. Might be to expensive to keep because he was coached up.

Blanton is the big guy up front as a Blocker. How much he improves & how the roster breaks down will determine.

Might end up being a practice squad guy for 2021 ?? Everett should bring The Rams a Comp pick if nothing else. Might have even a bigger breakout year than in 2019 when he got injured.

Seriously MachS, I was just being factually accurate which is good when stating opinions.

I was not arguing they are good players. As a matter of fact, I posted that my biggest disappointment of the Rams’ draft was them not selecting Ezra Cleveland at either 52 or 57. Think that was a great opportunity to get their. future LT.
