Not fast or strong but good hands good route runner. We shall see it's clear though McVay likes him we met with him multiple times IIRC before the draft.
4.65 is not slow... Has taken some seam routes to the house.

We trade down for a 7th when there is a perfect Littleton replacement in Dye available, then draft a TE in the 4th round?? We are completely set at TE, also with the Jefferson pick that indicates we'll still be in a lot of 3WR sets, with one TE. When we DO run 12 personnel, Everett will be on the field. Why in the hell would we draft him over OL or LB? Do they understand we will be entertaining next season with the same exact OL as last year? The same exact trash line that cost us the season. The 31st rated OL, we didn't add one player. And completely unknowns at ILB. This pick makes literally no sense, hes never going to see the field.
Dye has not impressed me. Not physical at all. Didn't want him.

My former boss and NFL Europe coach loves this pick. He's seen him play. He said the kid can play in the NFL now and was the best TE in the draft. Says he is not much of a blocker but has several gears and natural hands. Also says he is better than any of our current TEs right now.

Just relaying this as I know nothing about the kid.

It takes at least a year or two for tight ends to develop. The Rams know Everett is going to get paid in free agency next year, so this is the correct window to draft his replacement.

He didn't shy away from going down the middle. He can use a year to get more physical and practice catching the ball. I think he starting playing football later in high school. He appears to have quick acceleration for a big guy. Not overly impressive but, McVay and Rams probably think he can develop. It doesn't look like Everett will be a Ram next year.

Well given how long TEs take to develop it's not a bad call to take one you like and stick his ass in the incubator.

Welcome to the horns Brycen. Now come on over here and let me introduce you to the juggs machine...

I mean.... how many TEs do we need on this roster? First pick that I personally dont like, but.... the current FO has given me no reason not to believe in their plan.

We really need two tight ends who are threats as receivers, both for the 12 formation and for depth. If Everett is not one of them-- and the clock is running out on him-- the Rams need another.

Still, would be good if Hopkins can learn to block better. Maybe his old man can teach him how.

TE was definitely a need

I'm a big Everett fan but he will get offers next year that will be beyond what we want to pay

It didn't have to be Dye. There were other good LBs out there. If not LB then why would you not draft OL. It was hands down our biggest weakness last year, you think Snead and McVay HONESTLY went into this draft saying "no we're fine with our OL." That is complete bullshit. The players they targeted were obviously drafted already, and now Goff has no new blocking help around him. The QB who is more affected by pressure than anyone and had the 31st ranked OL last year. And we decided not to invest additional picks to improving it. We are doubling down on a the same decision that ruined our season last year. You can defend the pick all you want. This kid is not going to see the field AT ALL this year. We could have drafted Everett's replacement next year.

I just watched his highlights and he is a monster of a physical specimen. Crazy long arms and when you throw it high, even in 3 to 4 man coverage on him, he makes the catch. This may end up being another steal for us.

Also worth noting:

McVays first draft we drafted:

TE, WR, S, WR, OLB

All five are headed to FA after this season and we drafted all those positions.

Everybodys an awesome prospect and a steal in th draft.

whatever....

You dont draft a 3rd string TE ahead of serious need, to which imo is ILB,and OL

Same with the 4th string receiver we took ahead of need.

This whole draft thus far, except for running back, has been a question mark for me. Hopefully these young men develop beyond my expectations and prove to be great picks later on.

You also don't draft for the upcoming season alone given that most rookies need time to develop.

I disagree about the OL. I don't understand the logic - any player that we would draft this year with our picks is going to be comparable to five young players already on our OL. These guys are still developing. I never thought we would draft OL.
