You also don't draft for the upcoming season alone given that most rookies need time to develop.
Thats assuming you have money to hire the help you didnt draft.

Lets not be too literal, you can slice it up a dozen ways to make sense, and a dozen ways it doesnt.

It's very likely none of the OL were better than what we have already.

Also possible they don't see ILB as a need.

That would make a 4th round pick a very successful pick.

I'm not talking about the good Cook. Hopkins drops so many passes, and he's softer than a baby sea otter's ass.

But, of course team needs don't influence player availability. And teams draft players and not positions.

I'd be more upset if the team drafted a lesser player on their board trying to fill a hole. Why? Because while the hole may be filled with a body, it isn't really filled if said player still has to be replaced by someone actually capable of filling it.

I have to defer to team that has the all the medical & scouting reports on these kids as they have a far better chance of being correct than either of us. Some of the players many are calling for may not even fit the schemes planned upon.

BTW, that LB Kenny Young they acquired for Marcus Peters has to be considered a possible option, too.

I feel really small and vulnerable on the line. Bit we’ll just have to see what the bigger plan is, even if its rolling with the current 5 - there is a ton of value in continuity, I’ll toss that out as a Reluctant positive.

Solid. And agree on Young.

Well heres a surprise, a RAMS media outlet in love with a RAMS pick.

Trump would call this fake media.

Nah, gonna call you on that one. Jake has no problem whatsoever criticizing the Rams when he thinks it's justified. And I don't think DTR is associated with the Rams in any official way.

I shouldn't say “OL” because I really feel we are on a solid Center away on the line. Just a center. With great wunderlich and communication skills

Ok if Jake says hes the best TE available then it must be so. Forget the three TE’s taken ahead of him in just that round lol

This is a depth pick for this year. Mundt is in a contract year and has very little to offer as a backup TE receiver. Whether Mundt makes the team this year is debatable now IMO. Mundt can be released with no cap implications. IMO Hopkins is a clear upgrade to Mundt as a backup TE. Blocking is a skill that is coachable. One thing about Hopkins that plays into their run game is that Hopkins is a very willing pulling blocker on inside runs. He has the speed and size to make those "wham" blocks. It makes me wonder if this is their "FB" in an inside power run attack. If he is the pick makes complete sense. Many times the lead blocker is accounted for in the play action pass game. Having a TE as a lead blocker makes sense as they generally are faster with better hands than the average FB. That said Hopkins has a history of dropped passes but that is a very coachable skill.

IMO this is their new lead blocker in their run attack.

Got a feeling we're going to see more 2 Te sets, so that would mean we'll likely keep 4 TEs on the roster. So Mundt, Hopkins and Blanton will compete for 2 spots. We may use one of them as a fullback or H back type of position so if any of them show some usefulness in that area that will be a plus for them. Don't count out Kendall Blanton. Hes a big stone dude.

You missed the point. You insinuated that Jake is just saying that out of some sort of affiliation with the Rams, which is false. I don't know if he's the best TE available, but I do believe Jake is quite genuine when he offers *his* opinion that it's the best TE available.

And I wouldn't evaluated a guy based on others of the same position taken ahead of him. How many WR's were taken ahead of Kupp three years ago? And how many of them are elite like Kupp?

Is there only one type of TE that fits all schemes? You are obviously an expert, so enlighten me :)

Ok so...strike the media outlet portion, but Jakes a fan right? It comes to *me* as no surprise that a Ram fan would adore a Ram pick. Fair enough? I like Jake well enough, its not about that.

Its all really just bar talk anyway. We all want our team to be the best it can be. Hopefully this kid turns out to be a fan favorite and the team gets better and better and no one will remember when or why exactly he was drafted.
