Asking the question in England usually ends with 4 out of 5 people (unless it's Man Utd) saying it's their home town, or their dad followed that team, but I know it's a lot more quirky in the US.

As per my avatar, I'm a Derby County fan and our nickname is The Rams. So in 1984 when I was getting into this new version of football I needed a team to support and the Rams seemed ideal.

I did toy with the Pats for a while as they had England in the name, but I much more fancied going to LA to see a game than Foxboro.

Plus I just LOVED the unis.

I'd have more rings now if I'd gone with the Pats, but I'd have no soul.

Grew up in Los Angeles County and couldn't root for the most penalized team in the NFL. Yellow was my favorite color as a child, easy call.

Picked them before the first game I really remembered watching and stuck with them since. That was pregame of Super Bowl 14. Large part of why is my uncle who's my mom's youngest brother and only like 7 years older than me was rooting for them and we're still the only 2 in the family that's Rams fans.

Brudda... this is probably not the best day to ask that one. Everyone is probably making the most out of their Sunday when the Rams are not playing. So they're either being a little productive, or watch/sleeping through games today.

There are a number of threads on this topic because it usually comes up about once a year or so. It's good to bring it up though since we add new members all the time and it's interesting to know for sure. If you want to read some now... look back for some old threads on this while you're waiting for some responses. I bet you'll get some answers as the week rolls on.

I lived in Oregon and they had no team. So I rooted for the Packers back then. We won the first 2 SB. Then in 68 we moved to LA. They had the Fearsom Foursome and Roman Gabriel. Then Chuck Knox and all those great teams. They went to the SB. Eric Dickerson, the best running back ever. Even if he was a Deva. They won a lot. How could I not be a Rams fan. When they moved away I tried real hard to root for another team, but as a Rams fan I hated all the best choices. It just didn't work. So here I am, after all the bad years soaking up this awesome team. I can't believe they are back. GO RAMS.

If I had to guess, this is probably the exact same moment for me as well. I was 7 at the time and cried like a toddler when they lost that game...

I’ve told this before so sorry for the repetition. In the early 80’s my Dad, an electrical engineer who worked in the oil industry, got offered and accepted a job in LA. Although I never went to a game, I was very young, I had a helmet and a pennant was put on my bedroom wall (alongside other great sporting teams) as you can see below. I’ve supported the Rams ever since.

God it seems like only yesterday, but in the sultry summer of 1973 at a family gathering being only six years of age turning 7 in September, my family (Grandfather, Uncles, Cousins, Father) informed me it was time to commit to favorite teams as most of them rooted for the Yankees, Giants, Knicks & Rangers. Well, I had taken a liking to the Rams because of the horns & Deacon Jones plus reading up on the Dodgers (read early as a kid) & their rival (more like being a nail to a hammer) with the Yankees intrigued me, so I informed them I wanted to be the opposite of them and decided it was going to be the Rams, Dodgers, Lakers & Kings.

Sports was and still is huge in the family their response was I had to stay loyal and that was before I even knew @Loyal

My Dad was at Arkansas Tech with Eddie Meador.

We moved to Whittier when I was 2 and my folks socialized with the Meador’s.

The Rams were my team and there was never a chance for another team.

He sent me an autographed ball in 1970 with the signatures of the entire roster.

I can remember watching games from 1967, when they really took off.

Those bed sheets! Come on you Irons!

Honestly, I dont know when or why. Which is only strange considering I grew up and live in New Jersey. I cant remember liking any other team. Family is Giants fans, had a partial season ticket plan. Seemed like all the kids in school liked the Cowboys or the Steelers. I was 10 in 1977. Not me....
So basically, to the best of my understanding, Joe Namath was my idol when I was a little boy, not because of the Jets but because of the NFL Film, "Joe and his magic bean" (I was like 5 dont judge LOL)
So with Joe able to wear the greatest Helmet in the History of the NFL for his final days, the belief is that I was sold.
In 1978, I went to Rams-Giants for my first game and was already a Die-Hard Rams fan

We moved to LA from NY when I was 5 months old. Whole family was Yankee/Giants fans. By the time I was 7 years old, I was listening to the Rams on the radio (can you believe they didn't televise away games in those days?) and had a cat named "Roman Gabriel".

Later, when I could afford season tickets, I had them at Anaheim Stadium until the Murderer took them her home town after stealing the team.

I still followed them in spite of Front-and-rearie and was awarded for my convictions with their triumphant return.

All is well in the universe now...

It began with me watching Heaven Can Wait over and over as a little kid. Then my older cousin and biggest role model told me the Rams were his favorite team. He died in a car accident a couple days after graduating highschool. I was 12 at the time. When I began playing the earliest Madden games, I always chose the Rams, in honor of Mikey.

A couple years after that, the Rams moved to Missouri and were only 3 hours away. I could finally catch their games.

Later I ended up working concerts next door to Rams Park and would run into their players at the gas station. Good times. I remember standing in line behind Sam Bradford while he wasbuying two cans of chewing tobacco...

I was a young lad just starting to get to an age where sports became interesting. My father was a Packers fan. I don't remember the exact year. I was probably 9 or 10 years old. My best friend was over and we were watching the game with my father.

We decided to mess with my dad and root for the other team. It was the Rams. It was a close back and forth game. When it looked like the Packers might win the Rams blocked a punt. Got close to the endzone. Roman Gabriel threw a TD to Bernie Casey for the win. The Packers got the last laugh beating the Rams later in the playoffs. But my best friend and I were hooked on those horns ever since.

We grew up in the Fresno area. A 49er market. All 49er games were shown on the local station. So I would adjust that 30 foot antenna to the south and pick up a Bakersfield station that aired all the Rams games. The picture was a little snowy. The TV was a black and white. But the audio was fine and we could see it well enough to know what was happening. It was fun being a Rams fan back then. Still is now.
