get rid of her. You don’t need that aggravation in your life man…..
I waited for way too long to play those cards....

We were married in 1975 going on 47 yrs she tells everyone that she was married when she was only in kindergarten ......I believe she's lying :lying:must have been in Elementary school ...

I am sure I could not learn new marching orders or the progressive goosestep style after all that :clock:time RamsFan4Life.

She did give me a real nice air-conditioned Ram:helmet::shitlogo:cave :party2::part:that I get locked up in to hibernate & hang out in these days:sunglasses:.

On the good side, for exercise, She lets me out to empty the trash/ mow all the acres of land to ensure I get skin cancer & enjoy the local wildlife horseflies/yellow flies/gnats & fire ants.

Finally, she does supply me with my main clothing ...... new boxer underwear to put on when our 3 grown girls come with their families to visit...what else could a grown man want. ;)

Grew up in South Florida (moved there in 1975). As a kid, I was a bit of a contrarian (shocking, I know :sunglasses:), so I refused to follow the crowd and adopt the Dolphins as my team. Instead, I picked the team with the coolest uniforms and the most badass player (Jack Youngblood) in the league. The rest is history.

Yeah... this comes up at least once a year. Some of yawlz might be tired of my story. Don't care. It's a fun read every time. I learn something new about a lot of you fellow miscreants.

M ydad bought me a full Rams uniform when I was 5 back in '67. I was already a Rams fan by blood (3rd generation) but that really got me geeked up for the team. I used to go out to the front yard (Canoga Park) and "ram" my helmet into the stucco wall so that it would look like Deacon and Merlin's helmet.

In over 50 years, there's never been another team but my Rams.

In all seriousness, I grew up in central CA which mostly consisted of 49ers and Raiders fans with a few Cowboys sprinkled in there. When I was around 7 years old, I wanted to have a team no one else rooted for. I kept my choices to a team in CA. It was between the Chargers and Rams. I loved the Rams uniforms and colors as well as the fact that they always had games vs the 49ers (whom I always hated with all my guts). It was cool to later find out that the Rams were the first team to ever have a design on their helmet too. All teams are posers in that area hahahaha

I found mine in 1980. But she at least pretends to love the Rams

1972. 4th grade. Trading football cards I had to pick a favorite team to focus on collecting. After seeing the horns snd Roman Gabriel I was hooked. Been a Rams fan ever since (LA, Anaheim, STL, LA ).

Asking the question in England usually ends with 4 out of 5 people (unless it's Man Utd) saying it's their home town, or their dad followed that team, but I know it's a lot more quirky in the US.

As per my avatar, I'm a Derby County fan and our nickname is The Rams. So in 1984 when I was getting into this new version of football I needed a team to support and the Rams seemed ideal.

I did toy with the Pats for a while as they had England in the name, but I much more fancied going to LA to see a game than Foxboro.

Plus I just LOVED the unis.

I'd have more rings now if I'd gone with the Pats, but I'd have no soul.

Your avatar makes me physically sick. ;)

I jest.

Being an Aussie Forest fan, and less keen on soccer than I am with NFL, I don't feel the intense rivalry like I'm sure you do over there

One of my best mates is a Derby fan so I am pleased to see them do well except for when they play against Forest!

I was in California as a child in 1988 and I had a choice between a Red whiners hoodie or a blue & yellow Rams hoodie and chose the latter. Researched the game, and the Rams within a week after purchasing ... watched Jim Everett and the Rams play and have been a huge fan ever since.

I'm from France, Rams fan since 1988 when i was 13.
Love american way of life, LA in the movies..., and the blue and yellow unis were so cool so I became a Rams fan and never quit since.
See them twice in London, and that was unthinkable for me when i was young, football or american football for us in France was quiet invisible, there wasn't internet at the time , so just a 1h summary of a random game by week in TV with near one week of delay. To have the rams score and stats, i managed with my newsdealer to have the monday edition of USA today.
So now, i thanks internet for being able to watch Rams' game, have news...

I'll bet you could have used that helmet during the Linehan, Spags and Fisher era!!!!

I grew up in Hawaii. On Saturday mornings kids watched cartoons (the only time you could watch them). On Sunday mornings the Rams were on TV (because of the time difference). The LA Rams were basically the Home/Local team for The 808.

I liked watching the Rams more than the cartoons. Been a die-hard ever since.
I knew you wouldn't be able to resist!

When I first moved to the States I played a little ice hockey mostly because I loved to play physical as a forward (Usually took the other by surprise that I would be more of a two way player instead of only focused on offence at that age). The daughter of the defensive coordinator for our high school football team was dating one of my teammates so he came to a few games with her. Late in the season as we were gearing up for a little playoff run I had a real physical game, put on a bit of a hitting clinic to help us grind out a tough win.

He asked me to check out their spring ball practices to see about slotting me in as a LB. Unfortunately, being a lad from Lucan, I had no clue how to play American football, so when I tried to be a LB I couldn't diagnose any play at all, way too slow in the mental aspect of the game, but the physical traits were there, I was fast, had good reactions, and could hit. They decided to try me out as a safety where I would have a little more time to see what was going on/correct things, as well as receiver.

I picked up an old copy of Madden and picked a team at random (literally just hit the random team button in a play now mode and then after playing I started a franchise mode with them) to help me get a better understanding of various football concepts, real basic things to help me get up to speed more. The team I randomly selected was the St Louis Rams, and after playing a few seasons of Madden I had grown to like the players since they were the ones I was using, and they just sort of turned into my team. It wasn't until later I found out that they had been in LA previously, so I thought that was a neat connection even if it ultimately didn't play any role in my selection of them.

I missed out on the GSOT years since I was in Ireland still, I was just starting to watch the team and really didn't have a ton of loyalty in the 2004 season when they went 8-8 and beat the Hawks in the playoffs. I do remember the first Rams game I watched was the Giants game that was Warners last the season before, but I had just recently moved to the States and was just watching because it was on TV, not because I cared for the sport.

My fandom between 2004 and 2008 sort of hovered around slight favourability, they were my team when I picked up Madden, but I still wasn't a die hard football fan. I watched the Pats 2007 SB loss in Iraq during a small skirmish, which I thought was funny.

2008 I watched the two Rams victories against Washington and Dallas with a bunch of Dallas fans in the Army, seriously I was the lone Rams fan, and I vividly remember Donnie Avery adjusting for the deep pass against Washington, I think to set up the game winning FG, and then Jackson running all over the Boys the next week. That basically drove my fandom home, we sucked but they were my team still, and I would be dammed if I didn't sit there getting slagged by all those Cowboy fans to abandon the team for nothing.

That's a long way of saying that the McVay era is the first era of winning Rams football that I've known, so I'm really loving these past few years.
It's funny because the worse the rams got in the 90s and then again in the mid-2000s and after, the more likely you were to find me sporting Rams gear out and about.

I remember when we made it to Superbowl last time a guy at the gym calling me a bandwagon jumper after I'd just got back from spending money I didn't have to watch them beat Dallas at the Coliseum.

Being a 50-year Derby fan and a 36-year Rams fan there have been times I wished I'd been on a bandwagon.

It just makes the sweet times oh so much sweeter!

Started watching because of some friends. Playing madden etc.

Obviously unlike the derby UK fan - there are no teams nicknamed the cherries (not sure that would go down well in the nfl )

So when it came to choosing a team there was one main reason. having supported an underdog in Bournemouth and having a bit of a bias against people that come out of the woodwork when a team is doing well.
I decided that I would pick whoever picked 1 overall in the first year I started seriously watching (2010) would be my team. Obviously Bradford was not the future.

Since then I’ve been able to afford game pass for myself and have seen the rams live (London bengals game in 2019). Hope to get out to LA in the next couple of years! Also watched and read up on the history. Wish I got involved in the sport earlier.

It all started when I was in elementary school. It was those sweet navy blue's w/ canary yellow w/ horns on the helmet. Watching ED29 glide behind Slater, Harrah, Smith, Newberry & Pankey. Loved their Secondary as I played CB later in high school. Jerry Gray then into the Todd Lyght era. Went through the shitty show girl era. The 90's I got ribbed for be a rams fan (Same old sorry... era)
Just blessed Stan the man bought them, hired Fisher (was a yuge fan of the hiring, looking back smh). Now we got Sean McVay, lets hope he's here for a long time. And fuck it lets say 5 or so rings too :fistbump1::sunglasses:

We played Bournemouth away the first game of the Arthur Cox era in (I think) 1984 in the old 3rd division.

Pretty sure we lost, but the biggest loss was finding the fucking pubs shut at 10.30 pm and we had to go back to our B&B that didn't have a TV or allow booze back in.

My only recollection of Bournemouth was nothing happens in Bournemouth.

You must have been best mates with him a long time then.

Although I still get exasperated at how many Derby fans who like (American) football don't follow the Rams, a lot do and the first team as a whole did a video when we played in the last Super Bowl supporting the LA Rams.

You otoh, support our main rival who also happen to play in red and are called the Reds.

Pfft, I rest my case, your honour.
