Hey Dog, do you remember Dan Reeves and the drafting of Terry Baker, Bill Munson, and Frank Ryan?
Damn those were sad times....

You must have loved it @RamUK when Lionel Pickering chucked a load of money at Derby and you signed Shilts, Pembridge, Kuhl etc

I'm from Iowa though i have family that lives in orange county. When i was around 7 these people that baby sat me liked the rams. They they influenced me. I had no interest in sports but i wore Rams shirts and sweatshirts from being around them. When i got older.. i think i was around 10 or 11 - I started getting into sports and playing them later than most people, I was watching football and the Rams came on. I believe they were playing Seattle. It was 1988. It hit me hard - hey this is my team, and from that moment on my love of football began and my intense,,, very intense fandom for Rams and NFL football in general began.

Probably closer to 1979 but I was only 6 years old so.., but I'll go with 83'. Becuase ED came in to the league and holy cow. Rookie rushing for 1800+ yards. And of course the 84' season..Still the record.
I lived in SoCal as a kid so games were always on. Been a fans since I was 6 years old and will be til the day I die. Love this team, even during the 90's when I broke a lot of remotes :)

I'm a 3rd generation Rams fan and it was instilled in me at a fairly young age. Most of my family is from the LA area, although I've been in Oregon for 30+ years now. My Dad still tells me stories about Roman Gabriel, Farragamo, Pat Haden, Van Brocklin, the Fearsome 4, Youngblood, etc. Love hearing it and wish I could have seen them myself (though don't wish to be that old :) ).

My first recollections of watching the Rams was Everett, Ellard, and Dickerson era. Faulk has to be my all time favorite Ram, just so electric.

I've been trying for years to get my son to feel the way I did as a kid about the Rams. So far, no go. BUT, I did buy 2 tickets for the 12/13 game in LA against the Jags for us. This will be both of our first in person games ever (watching Rams). I sincerely hope that brings him into the circle!

There has never been another team for me and NEVER will be.

You must have been best mates with him a long time then.

Although I still get exasperated at how many Derby fans who like (American) football don't follow the Rams, a lot do and the first team as a whole did a video when we played in the last Super Bowl supporting the LA Rams.

You otoh, support our main rival who also happen to play in red and are called the Reds.

Pfft, I rest my case, your honour.

Garabaldi Reds. lols.

Maybe Derby should play in blue and yellow rather than the white, cream, ivory, beige or whatever the f### they wear? :laugh4:

My Derby fan mate supports the NY Giants, so he’s not on the Rams wagon either.

I’m not sure I adhere to the … I support my local team and their mascot is the Penguins so I support Pittsburgh in the Ice Hockey. I’ve always gone on what feels right for me.

Different codes … different appeal I guess.
Glad you support the LA Rams though! :fistbump1:

Our main code down here is Aussie Rules Football where I support the Hawthorn Hawks …. never once compelled me to support the Seahags.

We played Bournemouth away the first game of the Arthur Cox era in (I think) 1984 in the old 3rd division.

Pretty sure we lost, but the biggest loss was finding the fucking pubs shut at 10.30 pm and we had to go back to our B&B that didn't have a TV or allow booze back in.

My only recollection of Bournemouth was nothing happens in Bournemouth.
Yep that’s tended to be the case. Although we have become a bit of a university town in more recent years. Lots more clubs with overpriced drinks.

I went to the iPro in 13/14 with my derby fan uni housemate. Was in the home end - going bananas when we scored. Didn’t get punched fortunately. Got very drunk in the out of town shopping centre near the stadium!

Good laugh though - defo one of the friendlier teams.

Really feel for you guys - having gone through points deductions and basically getting forced out of a league. Tried to do what we did in our promotion season (over pay on wages and hope you get out before ffp can hit you!) don’t think you’ll be the only team this year (forest, reading, potentially Swansea)

Playoffs 1975 growing up in Hawaii. 1976 has still been my favorite year, football was magical to me as a kid back then. Waking up to NFL Today, the early Super Bowls, collecting football cards and sports magazines, and checking out stats and pics in the sports pages. Hawaii got about 8 Ram games a year televised back then. Sometimes listened to the radio games.

As I am a little older, I go back just a few years earlier.

However, I identify with everything you wrote ... with one exception. Growing-up in Hawaii.

That sounds great.
