Bennetts ceiling is about 6 inches lower though and no coaching can change that
What does this even mean? Lol.

Yeah, there's nothing that can be done about his height, but I'm suggesting that, despite his height and size, his ceiling could be just as high as Howard's. I'm not holding strongly to this position, but I don't think Howard will be better just because he's bigger.

He’s too short

Yeah that's also part of the equation this early in the year.
Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but I still like Klubnik. Not necessarily as a low 1st rounder but that kid is dealing with some stuff others dont. Playing for a coach who refuses to play the NIL game means he plays with less talent year over year, against teams who are getting talent infused.

I'm a Clemson fan and he really doesn't move the needle for me
He seems like a mid range prospect with a mediocre arm, and its the arm that worries me. I think he's plenty smart enough.

Interesting. I dont watch enough then because his arm impressed me enough in what I saw. Threw from a couple different arm angles.
Maybe not a Zac Wilson howitzer but not a Zac Wilson lack of brain either. Dabo needs to go, he's doing a disservice to the school by refusing NIL

I thought about it and I don’t think McVay has any interest in being patient with a first round pick at QB. I would bet money that the Rams would rather use multiple picks to get a proven guy again. Maybe we can trade our 2026 1st for Jared Goff :laugh1:
You crack me up.

Yeah i didn't clarify he's accurate and can adjust arm angles. Maybe it's just being critical as a Clemson fan but the arm strength is mediocre to me.

Simpson honestly reminds me of Chad Pennington (minus the shoulder trouble) when he came out. Just absolutely dead-accurate and smart, knows how to maneuver the pocket like a pro, actually underrated arm strength. I wouldn't mind if he was our quarterback.

They might just burn a mid round pick on a guy with potential to at least have a prospect in the system and then still pursue a vet or Stafford stays. Then they can just keep looking for the next opportunity to grab a vet QB or trade up for a top prospect in a future draft.

So let's say in the 3rd or 4th rd they grab a Klubnik or Beck or Robertson. I would be okay with that. Whoever they pick, it will be someone who they deem intelligent and coachable so you then just start developing the kid and see what happens while still pursuing any avenue possible for a QB.

What if Stafford is still healthy and wanting to play another few seasons? Maybe the Rams trade one of the 1st rounders next draft for a 1st rounder the following year? I would be ok with Garrapolo as a bridge temporary deal if Stafford retires after the Rams win it all this season. The Rams can still draft a QB, or is Bennett the real deal now?
I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, but in this situation, I'd hope the Rams dealt Stafford.

IMO, McVay with a decent QB that offers something with his legs would be his best offense yet.

I like Fernado Mendoza, with a big and accurate arm, with just enough Mobility, and athleticism to create opportunities outside the pocket, who fits the classic NFL QB profile: 6' 5 225 lbs.
I saw a recent McShay podcast where him and his buddy compared Mendoza to Goff. Saying that is his ceiling....which they both agreed was a good thing. After watching him today vs Oregon, I can see that comp. Tall kid, not super mobile, but a decent athlete, and very accurate.

If Stafford retires, then I could see the Rams trying to move up for a QB who they think could be ready by 27' (Jimmy for a year maybe) One positive is, none of these guys are a slam dunk, so it might make it easier to pull off a trade. Kind of like when Goff came out. A very good prospect, but not a guy who teams were drooling over. So he was gettable. Mendoza, Matteer, Moore, Sellers, all have some question marks. So if they ID one as a guy they really like, they would have a good shot to go get that guy if they want to.

Plus, if Stafford retirees, they could decide it's a reset year so they can throw a few picks at a trade as you are not looking at instant impact in a reset year.

If Stafford comes back, then maybe you go with a mid round prospect and just see if you can develop a guy before going into the 27' draft. Then use your top 3 picks for instant impact to support Stafford for one more year.

Rams will draft a 1st round qb in '26, I feel pretty confident in that. Best case scenario, he gets the Mahomes deal, sits behind Stafford for a year. Worst case the rook competes with the bridge starter and plays in '26
Cream is rising. Its not how guys started this season, it's how they finish and how that carries in to combine/pro days
