Yeah, probably looking at guys like Klubnik & Allar who are having dissapointing seasons, or Beck coming off last years bad year. Or taking a guy later liker Sawyer Robertson or others who are raw, but have upside.
Yep. I figure Beck will fall quite a bit, he feels like a midround QB to me, though with QBs a good workout can shift opinion very strongly. Allar too feels like he'll fall midround.

Klubnik I like more than both those others but there's a long way to go. I have a lot of QBs that I still need to settle in and watch, though, admittedly. Either way though chances are it's gonna be whoever McVay goes full bro mode with in whiteboard sessions. :laugh2:

I’d love to get a guy like Sawyer Robertson in the 3-5th round and let him develop under McVay for 1-2 years. Very underrated. Could be good with the right offensive/QB coaching in the NFL.

Then using the higher picks for building the OL (and a WR, CB).

You SoCal people...What's the opinion of the UCLA QB? I know people were not happy with how he left Tennessee. He might be immature, but seems talented. Wonder where he goes if he comes out.

Aiden Chiles of Mich St is another raw, but talented kid. Probably stays, but if not, another mid round talent. In fact I had read if he stays, he projected to be a first round kid for 27'.

Penn State played some pretty bad defense today. I think the kid looks to run a little too early but showed some impeccable timing on a couple of those runs. I just think NFL defenses will break him in half. He looks so damn skinny.

I dont know WHAT the hell happened to the "vaunted" College QB Draft Class of '26.

I was SURE Rams were drafting a QB via the two 1st Round picks in '26, now, I'm not so sure.

Mendoza might be the best hope?

We may actually need to roll with Stafford another 2-3 years, which, is not necessarily a bad thing.

Arch needs to go back to school and Allar is playing like he's an UDFA QB. I'm also believing the hype on Simpson @jrry32
Arch looks like trash. Zero instincts for the game, isn't seeing the field, and stares down his WRs. Simpson needs to learn to throw it away, but I like his game a lot. Good fit for the McVay system.

I do not have a high opinion of Nico. The USC QB, Jayden Maiava, is the LA QB to keep an eye on.

Allar is terrible, he’s following the Hackenberg regression plan
I must say it makes me chuckle to recall how drafting a qb in ‘25 was a mistake with how good this draft class was going to be

Today's performance was sort of an outlier this season for Nico. This team only put up 10 points on Utah and on mighty, mighty New Mexico, both in the Rose Bowl. Despite scoring 42 points today, Nico only threw for 166. His game is more his legs, not his arm at this point. It's a read-option offense.

Don't look for pro-style offensive development this season. This is probably the least talented team he's played with. The running backs are probably the only potentially above average unit. Additionally, UCLA is in talks with Noel Mazzone to help with the offense. With Mazzone, Brett Hundley had an insane proportion of his pass attempts within 6 yards of the line of scrimmage. Nico seems to have some touch and he's probably not going to be rifling balls off receivers on the short passes.

So, basically, skinny Kaepernick, with better touch and uses the word "we" in his interviews a bit more. He could probably fit into the Bryce Perkins role with the Rams, but that's really not a role the Rams need to fill.

Edit: Ok, re: Brett Hundley: " In 2014, more than 54 percent of his pass attempts were from six yards and in, including 29 percent from behind the line of scrimmage,"

The way that whole thing went down felt like a lot of folks didn't like the kid. Also I don't want a QB who is a shady C. In the NFL you want a kid who is going to bust his ass, take coaching, then bust his ass even more to fix what he fucked up. He doesn't strike me as that type.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a guy like Will Howard in the system learning right now. At least you would have a young guy who might have a shot to be a starter down the road, even if it's not the final answer.

It seems like it is often that way. Best QB class is the one that is two or three years ahead. Then you get close to it and see it with clear vision.

Kind of like beer goggles. :laugh3:

Well, with the way Bennett looked in the preseason, his ceiling may be every bit as high as Howard's.

I still don't think he could survive a 17 game schedule at 5-11" & 190 lbs. If he was just 6-0 & 215, I would feel better.
Yep. Loved how he played in preseason but too small. Anything is possible of course but statistically he would be an outlier.

Will say though that he has the confidence and arrogance in the pocket that I prefer.

I think there are still 4 first round QB's in this draft and potentially a couple more. I'd take Simpson, Sellers, Mendoza, Mateer and Moore.
Outside of Mendoza. I’m Not sure if any of those guys even enter the draft though
