He is Jared Goff, which is not a bad thing, but sure, he will need a good supporting cast as do most QBs.
Frankly, I would be thrilled to take a QB with the talent of Goff, but I haven't seen that (yet) from anyone in the 2026 class.

Goff was the number one overall pick for good reason-- his arm talent was and still is pretty damn amazing. As we all know, when Goff gets rattled he can make mistakes. But when he gets protection and is in a groove, he fires consistent lasers.

I'll acknowledge I only saw Mendoza's second half against Oregon. But what I saw was a good game manager with toughness and leadership and running skill, and an arm that sometimes was accurate and sometimes was not.

Bottom line, for me: Both Goff and Stafford were #1 overall picks for good reason. They are both immensely talented. It's gonna be a tall order for the Rams to find their next QB with talent commensurate to those two.

I would take a LT (who could either send Alaric to RT or play RT himself until it's time to move to LT) and a CB. Stafford looks like he can play at a high level for another 2 or 3 years.
Agree - CB and tackle
I’d like to take a QB day 2 that McVay likes who needs a couple years to develop/mold

Nah, its not about that. My point on that is not about a QB developing behind a vet QB. It would be about if it's Stafford's last year, do you burn your top three picks on a stud RT, WR, and a CB. Or do you burn two of those picks on a QB that won't play?
Are their top 3 picks this year making a difference?

No, but they didnt use two first rd picks this year. And I would add that their lack of impact from their draft class is hurting them.

I also would point out that they don't make the playoffs last year without Verse & Fiske. They also probably don't make the playoffs in 23' without Turner & Avilla.

So wouldn't they want to maximize their resources for a last big run with Stafford? That's all I am saying. Again, it will be interesting what their approach will be.

And yet the Rams were trying hard to move up in both drafts for a specific player, who wasn’t even a QB
Snead has made it clear they would like a young qb, just didn’t necessarily see one in ‘25

So they tried to trade up for a guy who could make an instant impact in the last two drafts, but they may trade up for so guy who sits? That's not being consistent.

So I am just asking if it makes sense. We could have used a top caliber CB in this past draft if you think this is a SB contender. If they are a contender next year do you accept that you will get no help in the draft? That's all.

Hey, I won't mind giving up picks fir say Mendoza, IF he is "the guy" who they believe can be a top line QB, but a big IF. And do you trade up for a guy with a few more questions marks? We will have e to wait and see what their approach is.

Whats consistent is the Rams approach, and if they see a QB that they think is their guy, they will do everything they can to get him. Whether Stafford is back or not.
They have the draft capital in '26 to move up, and IMO they will

I know one thing about trying to figure our what the Rams will do. They usually don't do what we think they will. I wouldn't be surprised if they did or didn't take a QB. I expect them to make WISE decisions though.

Not really. They have not been in this position before to be a contender with an established QB, and then drafting a young QB high to stash on the bench. In fact they could have done that the last few years and did not. Could have easily moved up last year for Dart.

If they do move up, hopefully it's for the best guy, maybe Mendoza.

With McVay looking to trade up the last 2 years for an offensive weapon, I cant see him resisting the opportunity to get his QB

McSnead have shown that when they really, REALLY want a guy, they will pay whatever the cost to get him. If that’s one of these college QBs, I expect them to pay a bunch to secure him.

Personally, I hope they sorta like a guy and let him come to them when they pick. ;)

This QB draft class sucks. I can’t see it. He might take a flyer on someone in the 2nd round but there’s not a single QB prospect that’s worth multiple first round picks right now.

I've given this much thought and consideration guys ... and I keep coming back to the same ideal candidate ...

Wonder if we could snag Jayden Maiava in the 2nd round. He's been impressing more every week.

I am thinking they might ID one of the perceived 2nd tier guys who they really like and they grab that guy in rd 2/3 or maybe late in rd 1, after a trade back or with our last pick.

There may not be that big of a drop off between the top 5 or 6 guys with what they are looking for. So if they can't get the top guy, they may target a guy in that 2nd grouping later.
