I know it’s been rehashed a million times already, but... I don’t think posters should say they were “wrong” for liking the Fisher hire. Fisher elevated the team from completely hopeless (2-14, 1-15 etc.) to some quasi-respectable 7-9 bullshit.

And Fisher definitely gathered some pieces (which McVay knew how to use, unlike his predecessor). Rams 2016 roster included three future MVP candidates in Goff, Gurley, and AD, as well as Hav, Saffold, Brockers, Littleton, GZ, and Hekker, to name a few.

In my view, Fisher was a bridge between the haplessness of Linehan/Spags and the greatness of McVay. Fisher successfully raised the franchise from terrible to mediocre, but then he stayed on too long.

I forgot. I thought for sure the equipment manager would never ever get canned! I just didn't see that one coming!

Too many things for me... but here are just a few of my greatest hits! (err misses)

Tye Hill as the next shutdown corner.

Jason Smith and Greg Robinson... "Left Tackle is no longer a concern."
"For real this time, Left Tackle is set!"

"A RB in the top 10 is a luxury we cant afford!"

"Steve Spagnuolo just needs more time" lol...

"Jeff Fisher just needs more time"

Damn.. this could go on forever...:hiding:

Impressive that you are able to admit you were a nut at one time who thought Fisher would be okay.:rolllaugh:

I knew after he hired Brian shitteneheimer as their offensive coordinater,he had lost it,that the game had passed him by. the game has passed pete carrol by as well.He was stupid enough to go and hire him also.:rolllaugh:

my misses is on mcvey and Goff. when they hired mcvey,an unproven head coach,i was infuriated.I felt they needed to get a PROVEN head coach and talk Holmgren or Bill Parcells out of retirement, money talks and in the LA market, they would have taken the bait. I was angry at the decison of mcvey not knowing anything about him, thought it was too much of a risky chance going with an unknown.

with Goff,I never thought he was as bad as he looked his first year.I knew he was just having a problem adjusting to the speed of the NFL. when mcvey took over and he started playing better,i knew he was turning the corner and figured he would be better, but i did not expect them to start winning toward the second half of the season and as a result, would finish with another losing season last year and it would not be till THIS year, that they had their first winning season in years and that NEXT year a superbowl would be the talk. I am glad to know i was off by one year.:)

Well, there is a list, however, besides thinking that Zach Wiegert was going to be the next Tom Mack I guess the biggest whiff was I thought Mike Martz was going to be to the Rams what Joe Gibbs was to the Redskins.

I too had high hopes for Wiegert, too
Wow thought i was the only one who felt that pain

I hated the Lawrence Phillips pick but.....

Thought that Tony Banks, Kennison and Conwell were going to be the next Aikman, Irvin and Novacek

I really liked Jeff Kemp.

Also believed that Eric Crouch would become a beast WR... not an outright quitter.

1. Jeff Fisher. I was excited that we inked a household coaching name. I thought he was going to turn the franchise around. He took the Rams from perennially awful to perennially average.

2. The Rams moving back to LA. There were always articles and posts about it in the years leading up to the move but I thought it was just a bunch of rumors. I am from St. Louis but I live in Tampa so I really didn't mind too much once the move occurred. From my perspective, they received more publicity in their first year in LA than they did since the loss to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

3. Justin Blackmon, Tavon Austin, Sammy Watkins. I thought Justin Blackmon and Sammy Watkins were two cant-miss prospects and I was not happy when the Rams failed to get either. I also thought Austin was going to be a game changer. I was wrong on all 3. Eventually, Watkins obviously made his way over for a year and he is a serviceable receiver, but nothing to warrant the #2 overall pick.

I will say, I hated the Jason Smith/Greg Robinson talk from it's inception on both occasions. Both seemed like projects to me. Guys who were seen as "potential" studs, but hadn't proved it game in and game out. I think the draft culture took a turn for the better when we started drafting football players and not measurables.

Spags and McDaniels. I thought that combo would be magical. Turns out it was a curse.

I've also bought into most of the personnel moves out of a refusal to accept that my team was being led by boneheads. Well, except Jackson. I thought Faulk would last longer and that Jackson was a terrible pick for that reason. I've been very critical of Jackson ever since.

I was hopeful about a lot of things during our years in the wilderness, but the one thing that I was absolutely sure of was that Greg Robinson would be a Hall of Fame LT.

*did I say that out loud?

I'm just gonna say one... sticking with Spagnuolo.

When I look back at a lot of the players many have said they missed on, it seems to me that at least some of those players were products of unfortunately inept systems that never really developed them. Take Bradford, for example.

Time warp him forward so he's just out of college and McVay is his Head Coach. Think things turn out differently for him?

So, I really thought about Head Coaches.

Spagnuolo was my biggest mistake. (but I was right about dissenting on Fisher from basically day one).

I’ve always written out the Rams lineup on paper, convinced,

“This is the year!”

Ugh. Wrong so much.

but then he stayed on too long.
Two years of being a fan that were wasted... and I refuse to believe he made any final decisions on either Gurley or Goff. The man was clueless when it came to Offense.

If I had to grade his efforts while coach of the Rams, I'd give him a D.... for severe under-achievement.

I forgot about Dupree. He bought a bar near Anaheim Stadium. I went there after a preseason game, and other Rams players were there. Jim Everett was there sitting at the bar. He got up and headed to the bathroom. I grabbed that moment, followed him and took a piss right next to him. It was a high moment in my life!

I thought Todd Gurley was a luxury pick, given that Tre Mason was just coming off of a very productive season and Gurley had health questions coming off ACL surgery. I wasn't upset per se, as I knew Gurley had big time talent so the upside was there. But there were a number of players I wished the Rams drafted instead. Glad I wasn't running that draft!

I thought Greg Robinson would be a stud at LT.
