Keep in mind, I doubt they use capital here to make a deal because I believe they are keeping that capital for OLB, however, it would be nice to get somebody with a 5th round pick that has the ability to play Guard & Tackle.

No 5'th round pick available for Rams at this time. We have a 2'nd, 3'rd, three 6's and a 7'th.

Thanks for the update, I might throw a 6th the Bears way for Teven Jenkins, sweeten it with maybe 2 6th's or a 6th & 7th, which they might take over a 5th round selection from somebody else.

I'm not as worried over saving up for a mid-season OLB as some are, so I'd trade a higher pick for the right veteran OG, and for me that's also someone who can give a big boost to our running game. Snead hit gold trading a 5'th for Austin Corbett, but expecting lightening to strike twice at that price seems unlikely for me, ... although I am sitting here waiting on Snead to work his magic once again. jmo.

I have also thought of Jenkins.
Like Austin Corbett it, he was a high second round pick (projected as a possible late #1) who failed to impress his rookie season.

Corbett fell out of favor really fast and the Rams jumped in 2019. Don’t know if Jenkins has fallen out of favor entirely with the Bears’ new Management and Coaching Staff but believe he has already been converted from Tackle to Guard.

Also don’t know how the Rams rated Jenkins prior to last year’s Draft. It was reported when they acquired Corbett, that the Rams liked him in 2018.

Finally, I have my fingers crossed with Anchrum and Jackson but would prefer the Rams O-Line was eight-deep; don’t feel strongly about Brewer, Kolone or Arcuri at this point. And I am not a fan of Evans.

IMO, Kolone is okay at center, no so much at Guard. Also if they stick with their guys, it will come down to Brewer or Arcuri, Brewer can play Guard too, but Arcuri showed well at LT against the Texans.

Again, all of us would prefer to add a talent with someone like Jenkins in Chicago or Andre Dillard of the Eagles, but now we'll have to focus on the last preseason game and await until the dust settles.

Why would you just limit Snead's OL options...... If any promising or proven interior OL'er {OC/LG or RG} becomes a possible trade I would hope that he would be fully open to it.

Reasons..... Shelton could be a bonified good starting RG. Another reason is LG David Edwards can also swing to the RG post if needed if Shelton was pressed back into starting OC. Appears that Carberry really prefers Chandler Brewer @ the LG post over the RG post. Brewer played the LG position for the entire game after the Bruss injury & was solid.

I would not gloss over the current backup center situation. A legit backup center is badly needed if this OL unit remains close to the same in soundness as last season. Kolone should be a very short-term plug-in answer in an attempt to replace what Shelton has been for the Rams the last 2 seasons. Rams OL took a big hit overall with Kolone taking the Shelton position. I would suggest reviewing the few series of snaps by Rookie Jack Snyder @ RG.

IMO, Kolone is okay at center, no so much at Guard. Also if they stick with their guys, it will come down to Brewer or Arcuri, Brewer can play Guard too, but Arcuri showed well at LT against the Texans.

If Rookie OT AJ Arcuri continues to do better & improve @ the LT post it might let Coach Carberry continue to groom 2nd yr OT Alaric Jackson for some possible future RG action if needed.

I think Dillard is a LT-only, who has been a disappointment; and the Eagles are good at developing OL. Pass.

Two things.

First, Corbett with the Browns is a good example of a coaching staff that was clueless as to player development. They were ruining the guy. Rams are just the opposite. Rams coaches excel in putting players in best possible positions and quickly developing them. There are former Ram players all around the league that are evidence of that.

The other thing is that I suspect that Rams will prefer to rely on their depth players on OL to develop rather than trading for someone outside. Maybe a pickup after final cuts of a player they think promising.

Anyway, I have zero worries about losing Bruss for this season.

"We won the SB, so we shouldn't care about the run game!" Okay.
Now who in the hell said that? I realize McVay's offense works off the run game but given the choice between a good run blocking OL or a good pass blocking OL, I'll take the latter thank you very much. Every time

I gotta say that trading for Isaiah Wynn would intrigue me. The money would be difficult to do, so NE would likely have to eat some. But I'd be interested in seeing what he could do at OG.

Interesting choice. CAP repercussions for sure.

I wouldn’t hate it if they found another Austin Corbett trade.
Really Really don’t see that happening. The Rams are pretty dialed at the hip when it comes to there system & bringing players up.
-In fact the way they see it which imo is funny. They’re trying to structure themselves like a major University & there new system.
Maybe even like a solid HS Football team. Old School like build & develop.

Morning jrry32, trade in this manner does go with what we have seen from Snead for some long time now going back to when he arrived & they moved LT Rodger Safford inside to OG. His constant process of procuring college OT's, by draft/trade/UDFA & morphing them to fill his OG's needs.

LT Wynn is built very similar to RT Tremayne Anchrum who is presently Snead's main backup RG behind Shelton. Wynn has excellent talent when healthy & might be a good LG.

Also, keep in mind that Rookie UDFA Jack Snyder was a long-time starting LT in college now playing the interior.

As usual Boni you're right on point. I have the Rams keeping 9 and Bruss was one of the 9 now I believe A.J. Arcuri could be kept as he showcased some ability at LT against the Texans. I would not be shocked here if the Rams claimed somebody off waivers too, but that's always could be the case. Keep in mind, I doubt they use capital here to make a deal because I believe they are keeping that capital for OLB, however, it would be nice to get somebody with a 5th round pick that has the ability to play Guard & Tackle.

I'm hoping and praying that Bobby Evans is out of the mix as I like both Brewer & Arcuri much better. I could see them keeping Brewer because of his ability to play guard too, however, Arcuri is a draft choice and looked good at LT. Overall, it's obvious that Alaric Jackson will be first off the bench followed by Anchrum plus Jeremiah Kolone has proved he can handle the Center position, but I would love to add somebody else, if they are out there because I just don't trust Kolone, but maybe I'm biased because of his past play.
I hear ya.
He has played pretty well over all this pre season.
As you know.....the shift from pre season to regular season means facing the best other teams have.....but, it also means that the lineman area also surrounded by better players. So, it makes that lineman more likely to be able to execute his job as part of the team line play.
I get not trusting him.
I had the same issue with Noteboom.
He was so terrible his first year or two and just a mess inside. He managed to develop into what should be a very solid starting LT.
Now, Kolone doesn't have the talent Noteboom does, but, I think he will be ok.
There is such little experience in terms of the depth OL it is hard to know how anyone will fare if needed to start for an extended stretch. Evans has starting experience. Coaches value that. I can't see him making the team at this point, but, Bruss' injury certainly helps his odds.

Yeah, I had high hopes for Snyder even as a potential backup center, but that opportunity has been seized by Jeremiah Kolone, who has showcased he's more effective as a Center then Guard and did showcase some of that ability with the now defunct AAF League with the San Diego Fleet.

This year Kolone has been given the opportunity at Center and has looked solid during OTA's, training camp and thus far in two preseason games. Kolone could make the final 53 offering a backup Center option in case something happens to both Allen & Shelton as I believe if Allen went down, they would still move Shelton to Center & bring in Anchrum for RG.

Agree and that's why I think Wolford makes more sense to be the #2. They will need to pass the ball and while Perkins threat to run helps the run game, it won't help it enough to offset his passing inconsistencies.

If they has a great ground game, then you might be able to live with Perkins as the #2.
Agreed.
The first thing any DC is going to do when a green QB comes in is start disgusting looks, blitzes and crashing the box.
Coaches want to run their O.
I still give the edge to Wolford based on his play from pocket....although there was no pocket vs the Texans so a bit hard to judge.
There are shortages of QBs on most rosters.
The Rams are overflowing at WR, DB, S.....it will be interesting to see if they keep 3 QBs or keep 2 again to free up a spot for another position. Same can be said for keeping 3 RBs or just 2 true TEs.
If Perkins or Wolford is cut what everyone else thinks of either will be shown by whether he is signed somewhere else or allowed to go to the PS.
