The actions that have been reported and described would probably be defined as retaliation, not self-defense.

If someone is coming after you? Drop that motherfucker. A bitch push? Well.. if you drop him, that's probably on you.

If there's more to it than what I have read, my bad.. but certainly didn't sound like self defense to me.
That's his point. If someone is stealing your car you are supposed to just call the police and watch them drive away? Try to stop them and you are the criminal. You break into someone else's car and you deserve the beat down coming. Probably better off not calling the police in some places.

What's really funny is people love to act like it's so easy to be rational in that situation. But it's actually not easy to be rational in that situation when there's a perceived threat plus physical contact. So as it pertains to the DA and going after this guy, I think that should be considered.

They need to crack down on instigation. That's the fucking problem. These asshole fuckhead fans that think it's ok to push strangers and threaten them. We don't need that shit in our stadiums. Fix the problem. Let this asswipe sue the dude for damages if he can afford a lawyer. Fuck him.

So just saw the pro Bowl starting. The NFC squad is loaded with Cardinals, Bucs and 49ers. So good to be a Rams fan this week. Go Rams!!

.

there's a few on here i haven't seen before. just forward through the ones you have seen. or enjoy them all over again.

.

Lots of good stuff here. My faves are the dude that grabbed a blanket and went to sleep under his car. The most surreal moment was watching the GB fan honking the Rams, running around scream "Let's go Rams! Let's go!!". Very strange...

I don't know enough about either one of those to comment. He says it happened, I wasn't there.

My point is if someone was a dick and pushed you.. and was moving on.. pushing them and then punching them is NOT self-defense. It's also not having your property stolen from you.

Since when is it "no flag no fine?" I seem to recall the league laying out fines for shit the refs miss in the past. Especially in the playoffs where it's so easy to review the details with lesser film to watch.
I read it he was implying he got away without either not that if there's no flag there's no fine.

Being shoved by someone is a physical attack. You have the right to protect yourself.

You can not run after them and then physically assault them when there is no longer a threat.

This one by the only accounts available to us is certainly in the gray area. Charges can still be dropped.

This is no joke. There were two flights before the game from OAK to LAX that fans were on before the game. When we were in the terminal walking to our gate some whiner fan guy traveling by himself poked me as he was passing us to our gate and said "no one likes a Rams fan". And kept hustling on by as a coward does. Like pushing someone when their back is towards you. This guy would have been our flight. My wife looking at the pictures thinks this was the same guy. I am not as certain but there are some similarities as I remember. There is a similar incident to us minding our own business from another whiner fan at the stadium before the game. Like a drive by. So weird.

The whole story sucks but that fan base as a whole are just a bunch of emotional bullies when it comes to their team. I am not surprised that someone had had enough. Terrible consequences for both these guys. Only one brought this on to both of them IMO.

GO RAMS!!!

If someone lays hands on another person then they should expect retaliation. It wasn’t a tap on the shoulder or a friendly hello. You let them get away with it and another shove could be coming.

My response is the same... if it's retaliation and not self-defense, you have real problems.

If the Rams fan pushed back.. and the 9ers guy was coming at him? That sounds like self-defense to me. If the Rams fan pushed him.. and the 9ers fan just said "fuck off" or something, I think there's going to be a legal problem for that Rams fan.

Sucks either way. The entire situation.

Maybe. It’s pretty difficult to discern the degree that the Rams fan felt threatened.

To me any advance against me is a threat to some degree. There is no reason to aggressively touch anyone. A forty year old business owner should know that.

I hear you.

But actions have consequences. When someone ends up in a medically induced coma, it's a big deal. It's not an accident.. it's not the intent of the punch, but it's the result.

Yes but you could say it was just a punch. He didn’t stomp on him when he was down. The head hitting the pavement was not intended.

I could see a lawyer going for self defense and winning.

Boy do I agree on all levels with all of you.

I believe the initial aggression shown on tape will have its own legal consequences.

If the Ram fan would have fallen and hit his head hard then the whiner fan would be taken in as well.

It is not only the outcome of the assault.

If that fan dies, manslaughter charges at the very least will be filed unless as you said, it was in self-defense.
