According to Next Gen Stats, the 49ers had the lowest win probability (0.4%) of any team to eventually win a game since Next Gen Stats started tracking in 2016. For context, the Patriots over the Falcons in SB LI had a win probability of 0.8%

unless you get sack fumbled and give them teh ball right there.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but if that happened and the Niners won then we’d have the same outcome that we had today. If we picked up the first the outcome would be different and in our favor. We could at least say we tried to go for the win instead of playing not to lose.

So how did McVay go from 3-1 his first two years to this shit fuck of an 0-6 streak over the last three?

What is the difference? How did this happen...

Which is why McVay was probably not wrong to sit on the ball 3 times. Defense just crapped the bed.

two ??????????? one is why on 3rd and one foot would you go empty back field and put your qb in the shot gun position. that pretty well tells the df that it is going to be a pass. ? two is copper kupp had just been on fire on our last possession than we forget him and go to obj. i am thinking that keeping obj happy is more important than winning the game.

That we should all agree on. Mcvay not making the oline a priority is arguably reason #1 why we can't beat the niners

This is a lot of the entire problem. Let’s not give Les a free pass either.

Better yet, run it on first down when the defense thinks heavy run. It infuriates me that McVay loves to get too cute with this play calling until we need some creativity. Then he just goes into the football coaching for dummies handbook

Yeah me too

Not to mention totally ignoring the inside linebacker position.

I feel we need to play and defeat the niners in the playoffs to really feel we deserve the lombardi.
This is where I'm at myself. If we can't beat the Whiners then I don't want a hollow Super Bowl win either.
Only the best deserve the Lombardi.

That's the thing. McVay plays passive and not to lose on offense and defense.

When are people on here going to make the connection?
I would say instead that McVay often goes from being too aggressive early to being too risk aversive late when he has the lead. He has often then called in too many robocall runs. It maybe came back and bit him today. I also don't like his habit of leaving too much time on the clock especially at the end of halves.

On the other hand I liked his play calling in the first half until he instead inexplicably failed to run the ball on third and 1/2 yard. Imo (stated at the time) that was a major error. Unfortunately it became the turning point in the game given that the Niners got the ball twice in a row and scored each time.

There were other problems, notably with the defense and the oline run and pass blocking. But in a close game everything matters.

May sound crazy but I’d rather play @ GB in the 2nd round than vs Dallas or SF. GB’s defense has been ass lately.

I overrated this team. They have only beaten 3 teams with a winning record , and barely beat the rest in a few games. A lot of big names and little to show for it. McVay is a notch below Shanny and it showed today. Just look at all the 3rd downs they picked up with great designed routes. Wide open at the sticks. Took advantage of the match ups. We throw it deep on 3rd downs. Still sick at the way the meltdown. Good luck sleeping tonight.

Well the opportunity would have to present itself. I totally agree but should it not work out that way I'm not going to consider it hollow. Now if they both made nfc championship game I will take it in a heartbeat. That's where it would mostly count. Let's all hope it comes to that

Nah fuck that, I'll take the Lombardi any year. Of course it would be better to beat that piece of shit team. Sure 49er fans will say, well you couldn't beat us, but we'll say true, but we are still the Super Bowl champs! Football is a hard team sport. Can't take any championships you earn for granted because they are all earned one way or another.
