I had a bad feeling about this one for about two weeks now, especially when the Jets kept losing and were playing better. I somehow knew this was likely to happen to us. We always seem to play like shit with extra time off. It's frustrating when you know you are a lot better than your opponent and still find a way to lose, especially when you blow a chance at the end of the game. But that has become classic McVay in that he seems to outsmart himself. Going deep twice at the end of the game needing 4 yds for a first is exactly that. McVay thinking the whole world is expecting a run or short pass so he goes over the top, TWICE! And perfect throws maybe get it done there but counting on a rookie RB and a basically backup TE to pull it off is again McVay trying to do the unexpected. And it was but with expected results given the probabilities. Woods and Kupp, both great in those situations I guess was too obvious to try and work? Boy genius just needs to go with the odds a little more often. I'd just as soon he fake the FG in that situation or even let Gay have a shot since he had done nothing but nail kicks all day and most right down the middle and straight as an arrow. He's more than likely going to have to trust him from that distance in the playoffs at some point anyways. AND, I don't really want to rehash the TO wasting again but DAMN! How do you come out of a TO on the field and have to burn one yourself? That crap is maddening. After all this venting, we do have to realize all our disdain is with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight and the Ram's coaching staff knows their opponents a tad better than we do from the couch so............... I'll try not to whine too much about the timing of the flags on us but, again, DAMN! With all this said, I think you'll see a different Rams next week in Seattle. We throttle them and take 1st place back again. Now that's not to say we don't give it back the next week against the Cards because, well, that's just what we like to do this year. GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
