Marrone is going to be fired. I actually think Gruden is a good OC, but he's gone too. The Jaguars will get to pick their next HC and GM based on Lawrence being their guy (assuming they don't fuck it up). They have a very good HB, an OL that is almost quality (they're missing one piece imo), and at least one good WR (Chark).

They still have the owner to concern themselves with. I wouldn't trust Khan with leading a latrine digging party, let alone leading the way to pick a good head coach and general manager. He and the entire brain trust in the organization are like a long dead fish that washed up on a beach on a sunny day.

As a person born and raised in the South, I have no interest in living in NYC. And I wouldn't want to be part of the dysfunctional Jets organization. If Lawrence is as good as we all believe he'll be, money is no object. Do you think he'd rather play close to where he grew up for a franchise that is less dysfunctional than the Jets (especially with Coughlin gone) or for the Jets in a totally different area culturally?

Well, I’d say it’s a toss up as anyone over the last few years with a lick of talent basically fakes injuries so they don’t have to play so they can get shipped out of Jacksonville. In the meantime that other dysfunctional team just beat our ass. They already had Cower inquire about the job and would have had their pick of coaches.
I don’t love the big city either but in regards to exposure you know being a Ram fan how that works. Jacksonville is a black hole.

I think the Johnson’s learned their lesson and would have let their new GM make the coaching call. Unfortunately we’ll never know because this poor kid is going to be stuck in Jacksonville with Khan and his nutjob son.

how many times do you have to be told there was a defender right on top of him?

.

Putting the ball on Reynold's body or outside shoulder away from the inside leverage is still the better decision here sorry.

And the defense "got it done"? Couldnt stop the Jets from making a 1st down, TWICE on the last drive?

Yep. How about them giving up a TD to the Jets on the first drive of the second half? That was the one thing we couldn't have happen at the start of the half. We needed a stop and then a TD. Instead, they put us in a 20-3 hole. We almost climbed out of it (and would have if not for the fucking refs). And then they immediately went out and gave up a FG on the second drive of the half (letting the Jets have the ball for 11 of the 15 minutes in the 3rd). Had our defense been their usual selves and gotten two stops, we'd have been leading at least 17-13 going into the 4th. But they did not play a good game.

I don't think Khan is the issue. If anything, he gave Caldwell and Marrone too much rope. And picking Coughlin to run the FO made sense. Who could have known Coughlin would be so toxic? Again, if anything, he waited too long to fire Coughlin. We'll see what hires they make.

I wouldn't want anything to do with Cowher in the modern NFL. That dysfunctional team did beat us, and the Jaguars beat the Colts earlier in the year (who have a better record than us). The FO issue in Jacksonville has been solved (Coughlin is gone). We'll see if they get it right this time. Either ways, you have two messes. I think Papa Khan is less likely to interfere, even if his son does have some involvement in the FO.

Going to Jacksonville is the worst thing that could have ever happened to Lawrence, why on earth that's viewed as a preferred landing spot is beyond me.
But again, I dont think coaches and players will lose on purpose. The Colts sure didnt when they drafted Manning and Luck. Each year they had the number 1 overall locked up and won 2 of their last 3 games to jeopardize it.
Because the players still play

Put it this way, the Jags aren't gonna let Belichick and his fuckery make them win a game. Bet.

When they close out the season, it'll be the worst game of hot potato ever, but the Jags will find a way to lose. Bank on it.

And come next year, no one will care and the Jags will have him for a decade or more.

Meanwhile in Gotham... the Jets will suck...still.

Lawrence was so unenthusiastic about playing for the Jets, that he said on camera that "it sucks" and considered going back to school.

Lawrence, his new bride and his family has to be THRILLED.

Shahid Khan: I’m gonna buy the Rams
Stan: no, I’m going to block that cause I’m moving this team to LA
Khan: My lawyers tell me that we can tie this up in litigation for long enough that you won’t be able to
Stan: look, this is happening but stay out of the way and let’s just say I’ll owe you a favor.

2020:

Khan: Stan, about that favor.

I'll have to disagree. Even with Coughlin gone, they still saw Yannick leave for nothing. Their drafting has been atrocious, and I don't believe in Khan's ability to find a decent GM or HC. Hell, Khan is a shady son of a bitch who likes to interfere, much like Snyder of Washington; he's the one who brought in Coughlin in the first place because he thought that the team wasn't "motivated enough". Do you trust an owner like that to run anything like, say, Kroenke has?

ehh while i agree he needs to do better with timeouts.

It had little bearing on the end of this game... we had 2 timeouts plus the two minute warning and couldn't stop them.

With a timeout left we could have gotten the ball back with 30 secs left and no timeouts IF we stopped them which we hadn't done twice already.
Well, we would have played it differently if we had all three.

Cower through his current job could navigate the NFL fine. He would be hired strictly for his leadership-like Vermeil. The strength would be in the coordinators he would attract and hire.

when was the last time john johnson made a play?

Last time i remember him near a play was when he dropped a int against the 49ners.
He made a nice one tonight.
Pulling Perryman back away from the end zone. It looked like an easy TD, but JJ played it perfectly

yeah our passing game has really gone down hill.. all we can do is dink and dunk...

It's a combination of many different factors but its bad...
Its also a huge part of clock management, that McVay has clearly made paramount.
It appears that he is focusing on owning the time of possession.

The whole Yannick situation blew up because of Coughlin, though. There was nothing they could do when Yannick was on Twitter trashing the team and saying he wouldn't play.

I think Cowher would be like Fisher in today's NFL. The game passed by him years ago.

Our ILBs are putrid in coverage and AD needs to be more unselfish not trying to make splash plays instead of playing his keys and not going upfield too fast leaving gaping running lanes for running backs to exploit and for the QB to step up in. Run heavy and play action teams that pass heavily to their backs and tight ends in the playoffs will destroy us (Saints, Chiefs, Colts, Bucs, Cards-if Murray is healthy, Seattle). One and done most likely

No way. Fisher wished he had Cower’s resume. Like I said, like Vermeil Cower would have his pick of great assistants and he’d be fine. Cower had the success he had because he knew how to adapt. Fisher was old school and too stubborn to change-that’s why he never got past a certain level.
