Didn't expect a win going in to the game but it hurt just the same after I got my hopes up that they would pull it out.
Another thing I felt going in was that if we play Detroit again with our OL intact down the stretch we will be the better team. The Rams playing them that tough with depth tackles strengthened that opinion for me. Lions better hope they don't see us again this year.
Stafford is probably the best QB in the league right now. I don't think many QBs would have us in that game with that OL play we saw tonight. He threw some shitty passes. But given the protections and what he did overall to keep us in this game I forgive him those throws.
Speaking of the OL, they got noticeably better the minute Limmer came in. Edges still sucked, particularly Arcuri who was totally overmatched, but the interior settled down significantly. I expect Limmer is our new starting Center.
On that final drive in OT the Lions duo'd Fiske into the ground. Felt like he had a lot of doubles, though of course I am sure all that will come out in the week of people going through the film.
Overall quite happy with our defense, who kept us in it until they got tired in OT. That is an extremely well coached unit. Also I like that they got some stops on the opponent's side of the field. That was nice.
I expect there will be some juggling of depth chart after this game, and I think that was always going to be the case. Reeder for example played well, but I think he is on borrowed time. Rozeboom also played well, but he may be as well. Limmer. Starting three wideouts are probably Kupp > Johnson > Robinson. Wasn't too great a game by Robinson by the way, but it's not like Tutu will do anything about that.
Speaking of which is there a reason to have Tutu on the roster. Kept asking this in preseason when the Rams were hiding him like he had a diamond up his ass or something. But the guy is not even remotely someone you want on the field ever. Over anyone on that depth chart. And he can't do shit for special teams either. Why he got that roster spot I will never know, as we cut returners to keep his ass around.
Noteboom had a couple decent run blocks but the guy was trucked in pass pro all night prior to getting hurt. At this point Arizona should be licking their chops and planning an assault on whoever is in there for us. Even if he returns, which I think is possible, as I suspect the guy doesn't have the highest threshold of playing through pain. I will give him that Arcuri was worse, which I was not sure would be the case, but still I cannot recall a player for whom there was more belief by the team and staff than Joe Noteboom, when he in fact rarely delivers good results if he's got a rusher with any power on him.
Glad to see Durant out there to finish the game. At least I think I saw him after the reports he was hurt. That dropped INT was disappointing but overall I don't think the corners hurt us too bad. Given that we were playing a loaded and explosive offense at home.
Honestly I don't think the Rams had any business being in that game like they were. So nice job by the staff and the players showing well, gonna forget this shit and move on and hope AJ realizes his fucking decisions affect the team and that shit is considered when you pay a franchise LT.
